b>12.11.15 : Kareem Omolaza Nurain to lead Mohammedan Sporting Club in the forth coming second division I-League. Mohammedan Sporting to play the first round of Eastern Conference which is schedule from the 14th of November in home and away basis. Mohammedan Sporting President Sultan Amhed today announced the name of the 25 footballers who are registered in the tournament.

While interacting Sultan Amhed said that Mohammedan Sporting included eleven new footballers in their squad which consists of two foreign recruits. Mohammedan to play the first match against Guwahati FC , a team which is being managed by one of the experienced coach of the country – Subash Bhowmick.

10.11.15 : Mohammedan Sporting Club of Kolkata will going to start their campaign in the second division I League on and from the 14th of October against Guwahati FC at Vidyasagar Kriangan, Barasat. In fact Mohammedan Sporting is the only club from Kolkata or West Bengal to participate in the current edition of the tournament. The Kolkata club are grouped in the Eastern Conference, have to face the challenge of Gangtok Himalayan SC, Fateh Hyderabad, Guwahati FC and Nekrosa FC. Mohammedan SC Home Ground AT BARASAT STADIUM.

Mohammedan Sporting coach, Subrata Bhattacharjee [jr] while speaking with the media after a practice match at the club ground said, “ Mohammedan Sporting will put up a decent fight with limited resources . The squad is a mixture of youth as well as experienced footballers. So, I feel Mohammedan Sporting are one of the contenders of the second division I League. Fans will see a completely improved side in the tournament”.

Mohammedan Sporting played a practice match against Chittaranjan Locomotive today at the club ground as the match ended in a goalless draw.

Minerva Academy Football Club All Set For 2nd Div I-League

 i-league 2nd division team - Minarva AFC 2015 10.11.2015 - MAFC Press Release : The 2nd Division I-League kicks off from November 14 with 11 teams from different parts of the country taking part, vying for a spot in the I-League, the official league of the country. I-League 2nd Div has been an annual affair but was never part of Chandigarh’s life and culture with no representation. But this time around, with Minerva Academy Football Club qualifying, the people’s favourite game will be back in the region.

Though its a debut season for Minerva Academy FC, they have been Clubbed in the Western Conference with 5-time champions Dempo SC, league favourites DSK Shivajians, PIFA FC, Kenkre FC and last season’s runners up, Kashmir FC. It will be a tough ask for the club but the team is high on confidence after signing some good players from around Punjab and adjoining regions.

“We have managed to build a formidable team and have been training together for over a month now. The team looks good and most importantly boys are confident of a good show,” said head coach Surinder Singh. The team is now into its last phase of preparations, and as the coach terms it, “It’s icing on the cake” phase as the nitty-gritty of the team is worked upon. The club kick start its campaign against DSK Shivajians in an away match on November 14 at the Balewadi Stadium in Pune before facing Kenkre FC on November 19.

After the two away games, the team would return to host Kashmir FC in its first home match at the Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana on November 29 followed by Dempo SC on December 6.“We have been compel to play our home matches in Ludhiana as Chandigarh doesn’t have a stadium which fulfils the Licensing Criteria. It’s a big minus point for us as we will not have the backing of our passionate home fans. But still, being the only club from this region, we are still hoping a decent support in Ludhiana as well,” said club director, Ranjit Bajaj while urging fans from every part of Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana and even Uttarakhand to come and support Minerva Academy FC.

“We are doing everything within our capacity to make Minerva Academy FC the people’s club of the Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana and Uttarakhand region. This being our first season, we have some limitations and its also a learning experience for us. But we have got a long term plan in place and once the season ends, we will take no time in implementing our grassroots programs and reaching out to the people of all these regions,” said co-owner, Henna Singh.

As of now, the focus is on the I-League 2nd Division as the team departs to play its first away match on November 10.

FATEH HYDERABAD
There was a time when Hyderabad was a major hub of Indian football. Boasting of players like Peter Thangaraj, Syed Nayeemuddin and Tulsidas Balaram, Hyderabad has produced a lot of players in the past who have gone on to play for the national team. In fact, the national team, which ranked 4th in the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, had as many as 8 players from Hyderabad. But in the recent past, the city has vanished from the football map.

With the intention of reinstating Hyderabad’s glory, Fateh Hyderabad was launched and the newly formed side look forward to play in the 2nd Division I-League. The club has been established with its emphasis on grassroot.The club would endeavour to hone the skills of budding footballers, particularly in the Under-13, 15, 18 and 20 years age-group so that they could rise up the national ladder.

“It’s classic, ornate, reflects the city’s diversity, referring to its 400-year history, culture and faith. The crown stands for the regality of the Nizams, tri-colour draping the state of Telangana, the two deer, the state animal, standing guard. The archer symbolises the goddess Artemis, prioritising intelligent physicality over brute force. Names in English, Telugu, Urdu and Hindi mirror the melting pot of languages,” said Yogesh Maurya, co-owner.

Selection trials to make it to the club’s various squads in different age groups met with an overwhelming response, as many as 700 footballers turning up for the same. The Polo ground in Secunderabad served as the lab with full backing from the Hyderabad Polo and Riding Club.

Eighteen players from across the country have been signed up for the All India Football Federation’s annual tournament.
