East Bengal and Mumbai FC held goal less in one of the most crucial encounter today at Goa, in a Group A league match of the 36th Federation Cup. Both the teams required a win for a berth in the semi final, but the calculations are getting more tougher to decide who will going to join Dempo Sports Club as the second team in the knock out stages.

The match was evenly poised as both the teams had the chance of scoring. Though East Bengal had the more ball possession, but the Nigerian strikers of East Bengal, Ranty Martins and Dudu Omegbemi failed to create any impact in the Mumbai FC's central defense. In fact the cohesion and combination between the two Nigerian strikers are yet to combine.

Mehatab Hossain and Leo Bartos had a good match, had some positive passes in the middle third, but Ranty and Dudu were under the shadows of Justine Stefen and Chikawali. Expect for once, when Dudu had a clear chance to score at the 4th minute of the match, but the Nigerian kicked straight to Justine Stefen instead of placing it in the goal. In the second session Kunal Sawant, the Mumbai Fc goal keeper saved Mehtab Hossain's low powerful shot brilliantly.

Mumbai FC had a clear chance to score in both the session. Subhasish Roy Chowdhury was the savior of Red and Gold in both the occasions. In the first half Subhasish saved a powerful shot from Josimer Di Silva from a very close range. Subhasish was rightly adjudged Hero Of The Match as in the second session he saved a measured header from Chikawali of a corner.

East Bengal, MumaiFC are on four points now from three matches, but Mumbai FC had scored two goals, whereas East Bengal had scored only a goal, which only proves that they have came to Goa for the Federation Cup without much preparation. Time will tell that whether they will qualify for the semifinal or not, but the fact is that they will have to depend on the results of the other matches of the Group.
