Mohun Bagan came from a goal down to defeat Abahani Limited Dhaka 3-1 in a Group E encounter on Tuesday and register their first win of tihs season's AFC Cup. Abahani had taken an early lead, with Welsh midfielder Jonathan Brown turning home Nabib Newaj Jibon’s neat cutback after 21 minutes.

Shortly before the break, though, Mohun Bagan levelled matters thanks to Jeje Lalpekhlua, with the striker seizing upon Sony Norde’s (pictured right) knockdown to fire low into the net.

Straight after the interval, Balwant Singh gave Mohun Bagan the lead for the first time in the clash. A fine pass from Japanese playmaker Yusa Katsumi created the opportunity and with the goal at his mercy, Balwant made no mistake.

There were to be no late scares for the hosts, with Norde displaying some neat footwork to create and add a third in the game’s final moments to round off a fine individual performance.

Preview: With a 3-0 win against I League defending champion Bengaluru FC, Mohun Bagan looks to register their first win in their AFC Cup campaign this year. Mohun Bagan lost their first AFC Cup match against Bengaluru FC in 1-2 on March 14.

Abahani Limited, Dhaka making their debut in AFC CUp this year with a 2-0 defeat against Maziya FC of Maldives at home. Abahani Limited will miss the service of Ghanian defender Samad Yussif due to visa issue though they have Nigerian forward Emeka Onuoha and Welsh striker Jonathan Brown who represent his country at U-17, U-19 and U-21 levels.

Just a win in 3 days ago and a very important I League Kolkata Derby just after 4 days, Mohun Bagan looks to rotate their squad with an eye to win this I League. Coach Sanjoy Sen also shared his view that his prime focus is on I-League.

Sony Norde is in prime form in his last match but his ex-teammate in Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi like Mohammad Mamun Miah, Sohel Rana knows him very well. Croatian coach of Abahani Limited Drago Mamic also an Ex-coach of Churchill Brothers in 2011. He also have a good record against Kolkata sides, won his first match in India against Mohun Bagan and also have winning records against East Bengal as well as another kolkata side United SC.
