East Bengal to play in AFC Cup Qualifiers

East Bengal Club to participate in the qualifying stages of the AFC Cup 2015 to qualify in the final rounds of the tournament. Churchill Brothers failed to fulfill the AFC licensing criteria and as the second team in the I League East Bengal selected to participate in the AFC cup. The teams are selected on the basis of their performance in the national level as well as in the AFC Competitions over the last four years.

Meanwhile AFC has decided to withdraw the President's Cup from 2015 which is currently the third ranked tournament conducted by AFC. East Bengal has been placed in the East Zone in the AFC Cup qualifiers. Importantly, India has qualified to play in the AFC Champions League and AFC Cup play off matches.

A group of AFC delegates today visited East Bengal Club to inspect the process of AFC Lisensing criteria. The team was headed by Steve Kim and the delegation includes Kevin Org, Manager Accounts, Mahajan Nair, designated as the chief man of the club lisensing who closely monitored the infrastructure of the club and the the process of developments of different age group teams including the youth developments.

The delegation talked with the coaches and with the staffs regarding the development process. After assessing the criteria the delegation discussed the process of youth devolopement, AFC's new regulations including personal and administration. The AIFF CEO Sunanda was present on behalf of Indian parent body.

AIFF MEDIA RELEASE : The President of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Mr. Praful Patel Chaired All India Football Federation's Executive Committee Meeting in Mumbai on August 28, 2014 (Thursday).

Besides, AIFF General Secretary Mr. Kushal Das, Senior Vice-President Mr. Subrata Dutta, Treasurer Mr. Hardev Jadeja, Vice-Presidents Mr. K.M.I. Mather, Mr. Larsing Ming and all other Members except Vice-Presidents Mr. Shrinivas V. Dempo and Mr. Subhash Chopra, Ms. Sara Pilot and Commodore Pushpendra Kumar Garg, attended the Meeting.

The Executive Committee welcomed Kalyani Group as the new Member in the forthcoming edition in the I-League and wished them success. "I believe they will bring in more professionalism in the League. Let's not forget the manner Bengaluru FC came as a breath of fresh air in the I-League last season. The value of the I-League can be gauged from the interest it has generated among top Corporates of India, that too for two years in succession," Mr. Patel said.

The Committee endorsed Mr. Patel's decision and discussed at length India's preparations for the 2017 U-17 FIFA World Cup. It was agreed the Coach of the Indian National Team for the 2017 U-17 FIFA World Cup will be signing a Contract soon for him to have a look and scout probable Indian Players for the World Cup from the final phase of the Coca Cola Cup which is to be held in November-December 2014.

The venue/dates for various upcoming Domestic Tournaments which were finalised in the Meeting stay as follows:

1. Federation Cup to be held in Goa from December 28 to January 10, 2015.
2. Senior Women's National Championship to be held in Orissa.
3. Final Round of the Santosh Trophy to be held in Uttarakhand.

Furthermore, as proposed by Mr. AR Khaleel, the Committee decided to name the Winners Trophy of the proposed U-15 League as Mir Iqbal Hussain Trophy. Meanwhile, the Committee confirmed the minutes of the last AIFF Executive Committee Meeting which was held on May 14, 2014 at Football House.

AFC - A - LICENSE COURSE RESULT OUT

AIFF MEDIA RELEASE : The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) have declared the results of the AFC A-Certificate course which was held in Goa from May 5 till 31st May, 2014. The course was conducted by Mr. Lim Kim Chon and Mr. Vincent Subramanium from Malaysia and Singapore respectively.

Twenty four candidates attended the course from all across the country. Six candidates have passed the course with 2 Pro-Pass candidates who would be required to sit for their theory re-test. The following candidates have successfully cleared the course:

1. Satheevan Balan 2. Priya PV 3. Gift Raikhan 4. Umer Mutawalli 5. Caetano Pinho and 6 Floyd Pinto

AFC Inspectors visited Goan side Sporting Goa Club.

AIFF MEDIA RELEASE : Sporting Clube de Goa was visited by AFC inspectors who carried out checks as part of the AFC club licensing criteria, on Tuesday, the club informed in a statement. The experts took a close look at the training ground facilities at Don Bosco ground, Panjim before heading to the SCG headquarters in Campal to carry out interviews of the staff and coaches.

The criteria which was being assessed was Infrastructure, Sporting, financial, legal and personnel/administrative. Head of AFC research and support services Steve Kim presented AFC's new regulations for participation in AFC competitions. He was accompanied by AFC Manager of Accounts Kevin Org and AFC Head of Club Licensing Mahajan Nair.

I-League CEO Sunando Dhar and I-League club licensing manager Roma Khanna were also present on behalf of the AIFF.
