Bank of Baroda becomes first National Supporter for the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 Bank of Baroda becomes first National Supporter for the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 < 19.12.2016 : Bank of Baroda became the first Indian company to sign up as a national supporter for the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017, the first FIFA Event to be hosted in the Subcontinent.

Chairman of the Local Organising Committee and the President of the All India Football Federation Praful Patel said, “We are pleased to welcome Bank of Baroda as the first Indian company that will be associated with the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017. As an organisation that has a long affiliation with sports, Bank of Baroda shares our enthusiasm to develop and strengthen football in India.

As President of the AIFF, I am committed to ensuring that football development in India gets the support it deserves, and I believe that this new partnership with Bank of Baroda is a very concrete step in the right way to continue the growth path that the sport has had in India”.

Tournament Director Javier Ceppi was not surprised by the keen interest in the National Supporter slots. "This is a landmark event in Indian sport. The first ever FIFA tournament to be hosted in India with India being one of the participating teams. This is a unique opportunity to be partners in making football history in this country.

Joining in at this early stage, Bank of Baroda will have the added advantage of ten months of exposure with the FIFA U-17 World Cup."Increasing awareness and participation in sports has become a key focus for the leading state-owned bank which positions itself as India’s International Bank.

“We are highly motivated to promote football across the country and to inspire a new generation of youngsters. Partnering with the FIFA U-17 World Cup India, 2017 was a logical choice for us, as there is no bigger sporting event that the country will see next year.

With the signature of the agreement, Bank of Baroda has thus become the first of the six National Supporters that the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 can have. The Tournament will be held from October 6th to 28th, 2017.

But the FIFA ranking of Indian football are yet to be at the desired level. Though the FIFA President Gianni Infantino feels India is the fastest developing football nation and U-17 World Cup will open a new milestone in Indian football.

"India is now the passionate giant" this is the reaction of FIFA President Gianni Infantino in a media interaction at Goa this evening. Gianni Infantino are in a two day tour in India after is elected as the President of FIFA. Infantino had an eventful discussion with the rank and file of All India Football Federation headed by the President Prafulla Patel.

Infantino is pleased to see the passion for football in the sub continent as he answered while interacting,"India has always been always mentioned as the ‘Sleeping Giant’ But from what I have seen here I am sure that India is now the passionate giant of Football,” Infantino is pleased to see the activities of AIFF for the development of football in India. He is impressed by the development of football in India and the passion for football among the fanatics are increasing steadily year after year. The development are reflecting in graph which is really impressive. Though Infantino are of the opinion that result won’t be immediate, but it will follow in coming years.

While answering to a question Gianni Infantino opined that U-17 World Cup in India will surely open a new era in Indian football. As the FIFA President says ,“The FIFA U-17 World Cup is a new chapter in the history of Indian Football and we need to make sure that it is one of the best FIFA tournaments ever held in the World. The passion for Football has the ability to take us forward from the U-17 World Cup and we need to capitalize on that. The Mission Eleven Million which the AIFF is working on to indulge the youth is commendable.”

While summing up Infantino added, “I like the Indian Football Federation being called the All India Football Federation. It has the feeling of the magnitude of India and embracing everyone. India is a Continent which is developing and Football will become the No. 1 sport in the Country.”
