KFC NEWS DESK - 27.03.2017: The "MACCA OF INDIAN FOOTBALL" Kolkata, to host the final of the U-17 World Cup Final. This was officially announced by Javier Ceppi, the Tournament Director after a week long inspection in different venews within the country. The 21 member FIFA delegation lead by Jaime Yarza, Head of Events, along with the Local Organizing Committee had a detailed inspection regarding different aspects at Delhi, Kochi, Goa, Navi Mumbai, Guwahati and Kolkata. Finally, the delegation declare Vivekananda Yubabharati Kriangan of Kolkata as the venew to host the final of the mega event on the 28th of October . In fact Kolkata will be the head quarter and main operational center for the most prestigious event ever organise in India.

The tournament will start in New Delhi and Navi Mumbai with the first double headers being held on 6 October. The quarter-finals will be in Goa, Guwahati, Kochi and Kolkata, while Guwahati and Navi Mumbai will host the semi-finals. The last match at New Delhi will be on 16th October as there are always a high rate of pollution during Dewali festival. The Head of Events, Jaime Yarza while addressing to the media said, “The FIFA U-17 World Cup is an exciting milestone for the growth of football in India and it has now reached a very important stage. The match schedule has been created following a thorough analysis of players’ health, competition format, team movements, weather, local festivities, geography and other factors. Each venue will host at least eight matches, and we took existing infrastructure into account, as well as local enthusiasm, when allotting the matches.”

The LOC Tournament Director Javier Ceppi added while introducing the official slogan: “This is the first time that India is hosting a FIFA tournament. It will be also the first time an Indian team will play in a FIFA competition. In recognition of the increasing excitement about the beautiful game in India, ‘Football Takes Over’ was the first and most fitting choice as the official slogan for the tournament. Soon we will open ticket sales and fans will have great opportunities to attend matches at discounted rates. We are expecting huge interest from football fans in this historical FIFA U-17 World Cup in India.”

The draw for the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 will take place on 7 July in Mumbai.



KFC NEWS DESK - 24.03.2017: The 21 member FIFA delegation while inspecting the D Y Patil stadium for the U 17 World Cup expressed their satisfaction with the progress of work. The delegation stated that D Y Patil stadium in Mumbai should be treated as benchmark for other venues in the country.

Jamie Yarza, the head of the delegation while interacting with the media said, I said last year that I was happy with the stadium and I haven’t changed my mind. It is a fantastic stadium and most of the works which we have requested to be able to host four teams and all the logistical organisational aspects of the World Cup have been completed. In that sense we have no worry everything will be in place. The new dressing rooms are of very high quality and we are very happy with all the preparations. This will be one of the best stadiums in the country to the host the matches and we are proud to be here. ”

The Prime Minister's office are in touch with the preparation of the stadium and they are receiving reports every Monday. DY Patil is the only venue inspected so far, that has got a positive review from FIFA . The delegation had earlier raised various concerns after inspecting venues at New Delhi and Kochi. Jamie Yarza refrained from confirming whether DY Patil Stadium would be awarded a marquee game or possibly the final of the tournament.



KFC NEWS DESK - 23.03.2017: The U -17 FIFA World Cup are now at the door step as a 21 members of FIFA delegation and the Local Organising Committee are inspecting the probable venews for the World Cup. This is most important part of the inspection by the FIFA technical committee to check all the important aspects for the mega tournament which is expected to be kick off at October.

The capital city of India, New Delhi being finalize as one of the venew for the U 17 World Cup. A 21 member delegation lead by Jaime Yarza, are inspecting the venews for the U 17 World Cup to assess the progress of preparations for the tournament. In the media meeting after inspecting Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and the other important places at New Delhi Jaime Yarza said, “There has been some work which has gone on to the stadium and that is very commendable. However, now that the tournament is less than 200 days away, work needs to gather pace, especially at the training sites."

The tournament Director of the Local Organising Committee, Javier Ceppi added, “There has been a fair amount of work and improvement in Delhi since the last FIFA visit. We are very thankful to the Sports Authority of India for all the work that has been put into the renovations of the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and the two training grounds”.

The Jawharlal Nehru Stadium at Goa are one of the important venew for the U 17 World Cup. Goa is a football lovable state and the Government headed by the chief minister Manohar Parrikar promised to give full support to devolope the infra structure for the tournament. While talking to the media the chief minister said, Goa is known for its love for football and we will ensure that no stone is left unturned in preparations for the tournament. It will be a wonderful opportunity for all Goans to witness a spectacle such as the World Cup."

Jaime Yarza, the head of the tournament for the U 17 World Cup was pleased with the progess of the work as he said, “I am pretty excited to see the way the stadium has shaped over the last year – since I last came here, it played host to the World Cup Qualifiers and from the reports, I gauge that the authorities here did a great job at it."

Kochi in Kerala is one of venew for the U 17 World Cup. The FIFA delegation are not satisfied with the progress of work in Kochi. Though Kochi is a football crazy state but the work are at the satisfactory level which was marked by the FIFA delegation during their inspection at the stadium. The Head of Tournaments of FIFA, Jaime Yarza said in the Press conference , “I was here last February and, to be honest, while some work has happened, it’s by far not enough, which is a matter of deep concern. The State Government must get involved, giv us an unrestricted support and get the urgency of the situation, because there are a lot of changes that need to be made to the stadium.

The works need to be done by 15th May and given the large amount of renovation that must happen, works have to go on full speed. Also, the situation of the stores is quite concerning: from a Security standpoint they cannot be opened during the tournament. There are stores with fuel tanks, which is a grave safety and security concern, so their equipment also need to be taken out. Overall, work needs to happen, and State Government needs to make them happen fast.”

The FIFA delegation will inspect the stadiums at Novi Mumbai, Guwahati and Kolkata. Sources said that Yubabharati Kriangan at Kolkata will going to declare as the main venew of the tournament. The Government of West Bengal are doing a splendid job to devolope the stadium as one of the finest with all the modern facilities that are required for a successful tournament.
