Brazil have won five straight qualifiers since Tite took charge, surging to the top of South American qualifying. Brazil beat arch rival Argentina in the 2018 World Cup finals by 3-0 win to reach in the top of the Table while Argentina dropped into sixth place in the 10-team South American qualifying group. Brazil remain top of the group with 24 points from 11 and Argentina are sixth on 16 points playing same. Top four teams qualifying automatically for the finals in Russia 2018 and the fifth-placed side going into a play-off with the Oceania winners.

In other games, Peru beat Paraguay 4-1, Venezuelan win 5-0 win over Bolivia. Colombia drew 0-0 at home to Chile, Uruguay beat Ecuador 2-1.
