PFC PRESS RELEASE : Pune FC opened their home I-League campaign in style defeating ten-man Mohun Bagan AC 2-0 in an I-League 2013-14 Round-4 encounter at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Mhalunge-Balewadi, Pune on Thursday. Second half strikes from substitute Thongkhosiem Haokip (72nd minute) and winger James Meyer (81st) handed Pune FC all three points. The visitors were reduced to ten men after defender Celestine Anyiche received his marching orders for a second bookable offence in the 53rd minute....... SCROLL DOWN FOR LIVE PLAY BY PLAY

With this win Pune FC jump back to the second place with seven points from three games while Mohun Bagan drop to tenth place with two points from three games. Coach Mike Snoei made one change to the team that faced Shillong Lajong in Round 2 with striker Raul Fabiani - back after his suspension - replacing winger Velington Rocha.

The hosts went on the offensive straight from the word go and had attempts from midfielders Douhou Pierre and Arata Izumi blocked by the Bagan defense. Both sides thereafter settled into the game and kept on pushing for the opener. The hosts went close in the 28th minute when defender Gurjinder Kumar's brilliantly chipped cross into the box from the left found Fabiani, whose volley went just wide.

Seven minutes past the half-hour mark, Bagan went close through striker Eric Muranda. Playmaker Yusa Katsumi's freekick from the left flank was flicked on by the Pune FC defense and found Eric at the far post. However the Kenyan striker's attempt was saved brilliantly by Amrinder Singh.

The hosts went close a minute into first half when Fabiani's header off defender Calum Angus' corner went just over the horizontal. Both teams went into the break tied at goalless. The hosts had a close moment a minute into the second half when Bagan striker Eric pulled clear after 'keeper Amrinder misjudged a long ball and hit from inside the box. However defender Angus saved the day for Pune FC with a well-timed tackle to block the shot.

Six minutes into the half the visitors were reduced to ten men. Pune FC striker Fabiani tried to control a long ball ahead of Anyichie who went down claiming Fabiani's boot had struck him. However when the 6'6" tall Pune FC striker tried to show sportsman spirit by giving him a hand, the Nigerian hit him prompting the referee to show him his second yellow of the match.

Pune FC capitalized on their one-man-advantage and took the lead midway through the half. 20-year-old substitute striker Haokip - promoted from the academy and on for the injured Fabiani - headed in defender Angus' pinpoint freekick from the left flank at the far post to give Pune FC the lead. Ten minutes later, Meyer doubled Pune FC's advantage with a calm finish. Right-back Othallo Tabia's cross in from the right wasn't properly cleared and Meyer lurking in the box slotted home.

Substitute Anthony D'Souza, on for Nikhil Kadam, almost made it three in the final minute of the game for Pune FC. Haokip showed brilliant control in the box and laid off for Anthony whose curling shot was saved by Bagan keeper Sandip Nandy.

I-League: Bengaluru FC's dream run continues Beat Mohammedan Sporting 2-1 To Stay On Table Top

10.10.2013 : KFC. | www.kolkatafootball.com HOME PAGE

BFC PRESS RELEASE : Bengaluru FC made it three wins in as many games and continued their unbeaten stay on the top of the I-League table with a 2-1 win over Mohammedan Sporting, at the Bangalore Football Stadium, on Thursday. Bengaluru FC's opening goal had a very familiar story that's bordering on the famous now. A corner won in the 12th minute saw the hard-working Beikhokhei Beingaichho whip in a delightful ball that Johnson sent crashing home. Johnson was at it again minutes later, releasing Thoi Singh with a perfect ball only for the winger to falter with the cross....... SCROLL DOWN FOR LIVE PLAY BY PLAY

If Beingaichho's delivery from the corner was precise, his setting up of Bengaluru's second goal was sheer gumption. Sent into space on the right, the winger darted down, took out a defender with some skill and sent in the perfect cross for Sean Rooney to calmly place his header at the back of the net.

Mohammedan, without the injured and influential Luciano Sabrosa, had their best chance in the half when Josimar Martins found himself in the box with the ball only to fire tamely at Pawan Kumar. The Kolkata club threw in a recharged second half show where Ashley Westwood brought on Sunil Chhetri and Rino Anto for Malemnganba Meitei and Vishal Kumar respectively. Mohammedan started attacking with more purpose and Josimar, who looked like the only player from the opposition to score, justified his bulky frame while heading home from a corner in the 78th minute.

But while you would have thought that the hosts would sit tight and defend, Westwood's third change - Robin Singh - made sure that wasn't the case. The India striker found himself on goal as many as four times in 20 minutes but acute angles and stubborn defending denied him. The half kept getting faster and the ball was won and lost in the middle rather regularly. But Bengaluru FC kept their nerves to make sure they walked off the pitch with tree points.

Coach Westwood wasn't surprised by the way Mohammedan tried turning things around post the break. "I knew and also mentioned the other day that they would be a tough team. They will be winning more games than losing," said Westwood who was pleased that his boys earned the win without any drama.Bengaluru FC has a little less than two weeks before they host Dempo in a Round 5 fixture. The clubs leads the points table with 10 from four games and are yet to taste defeat in what seems to be a fairytale start to its debut I-League season.

I-League: Rangdajied United Hold Defending Champions To A Draw

10.10.2013 : KFC. | www.kolkatafootball.com HOME PAGE

RUFC PRESS RELEASE : The Rangdajied United FC versus Churchill Brothers SC encounter at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong on Thursday ended with a 1-1 draw. Team Rangdajied is happy with the result but the happiest of all were the crowds, who were treated with an exciting game of football.

The Rangdajied United skipper Eugeneson Lyngdoh gave the home team a lead in the 25th minute just to be cancelled out two minutes later by Balwant Singh. Booming with confidence, the host were right into business, creating two dangerous chances within the first two minutes. First captain Eugeneson Lyngdoh's freekick almost beat Arindam Bhattachary, who had to stretched full length to keep the ball out for a corner.

The ensuing corner by Timothy Lugun was again dangerously headed by David Ngaihte which was deflected off for the 2nd corner. Keeping the pressure on, the home team came close to scoring again in the 9th minute, when a melee inside the box gave Restomwell a chance to have a sneak at the goal. But Arindam came to his team's rescue again.

Just two minutes later, David Ngaihte, the livewire on the team, had another go at the goal when he blasted in a powerful right footer that just missed the right post by an inch. Just a minute later, the Man of the Match, Eugeneson Lyngdoh created space for Sandesh Gadkari to run down the field. Sandesh passed the ball to Restomwell Khriam to the right, whose cross was brilliantly collected by the Churchill custodian.

With crowds continuing to pour in and floodlights slowly taking over, the match became more lively and fast, much to the delight of the crowd, who came in numbers, after the Rangdajied coach Santosh Kashyap had appealed to them on Wednesday. Churchill however were threatening occasionally. In one such instance, they stitched together series of passes before Hugo took a shot from just outside the box to be comfortably collected by Surjay Pariyar.

But the crowd burst into joy in the 25 minute when Eugeneson blast the ball past the Churchill keeper from inside the box to rattle the side netting. The joy however, was short live as Churchill were lucky to level the scoring through Balwant Singh two minutes later off a freekick by Hugo. The match went into the lemon-break with the score board reading 1-1.

Rangdajied once again began the 2nd half with a bang, with David Ngaihte proving to be a thorn for the Goan defenders. In one solo effort, Ngaihte dribbled past three defenders from the left wing to just outside the box, before his right footed shot, went whistling past the woodwork.

The crowds had not settled down yet, but David had another go at the goal in the 52nd minute from the 25 yards. The ball hit the right post to bounce back into play, which was comfortably cleared by the Churchill defenders. Uffff..was the only sound heard, as the crowd could just not believed what happened.

Three minutes later, Churchill got a freekick from the danger area. Hugo took the shot past the wall and the ball dangerously dipped but just to hit the crossbar as it went out of play. Churchill there after created few more scoring chances, courtesy the brilliance of Hugo and Hammed, but they just couldn't beat the Rangdajied custodian, who had a good day in the office.

In the 78th minute, the visitors played some brilliant one touch pass from the centre of the field to the box but failed to do what matters the most, score. With time running out, RUFC pressed harder for the deserving winner. Ngaihte, once again came close to scoring what could be the winner, when his left footed shot from inside the box hit the post and went out of play.

The game ended 1-1 as the happy Rangdajied team exchanged greetings with each other and remained on the field for long time, thanking the fans and well wishers. Rangdajied now have two points from four outings and remained unbeaten at home.
