Joakim Abranches doubled the magin in the 40th minute when he utilised a misunterstading between Nabi and Luis Bareto and places the ball in an empty goal. Josimar reduced the margin at the 41st minute when he heads home a centre of Nirmal Chettri.

East Bengal didn't really threaten to score but at the 61st minute of the match Chedi Eddeh increased the margin following an arial lob of Abranches. Sueaka was in front of Cheddi but Sueoka didn't touch the ball and allowed an onrushing Chidi, who was onside, to score easily past Barreto.

Mohammedan Sporting one of the oldest football club of India are at the bottom of the I league table at the end of their 20th round with 18 points in their kitty. The Durand and the IFA Shield champions requires points desperately in order survive in the league. In fact Mohammedan requires points in every matches in order to place them in a safer zone in the I league table.

Mohammedan had an impressive start in this season but slowly they are out numbered as the season advances and now they are fighting on the relegation zone. The Mohammedan coach Sanjoy Sen while interacted with the media at Kolkata stated, "It has become a very tough challenge for us. However, we have to fight till the last match. Every game is a do or die for us and so we must give absolutely everything".

On the contrary East Bengal who are at the forth position with 31 points are targetting to be one of the contenders of the I league. A win on Saturday evening will definately place them in a higher position in the league table and put pressure on the top seeded team Bangaluru FC.

East Bengal are in an advantageous position now as they have more matches in their hand than Bangaluru FC, Salgaokar and Dempo Sports Club. The Red and Gold skipper Mehtab Hossain and the Sudanish striker James Moga will be out of the dug out as they are still to recover injuries and it is likely that Baljit Singh will going to start with Chidi Edeh in the upfront.

East Bengal will be inspired by the fact that they are undefeated to the rivals since 20th July,2008 in Kolkata league while in NFL/I League have never lost. East Bengal bagged the home match against Mohamedan Sporting by a margin of 2-1 and are confident to repeat the history in order to advance further in the table.
