MOHUN BAGAN AND BANGALURU FC ARE IN THE RUN FOR THE I LEAGUE TITTLE

The I League is heading to a dramatic finish. The defending champions of I League, Bangaluru FC are now one of the contenders of tittle just behind Mohun Bagan who are leading the I League table. The win against East Bengal at home placed the Corporate team in the second position with 31 points challenging Mohun Bagan, who are at 32 points in the league table.

Bangaluru FC today registered their first win against East Bengal at home as they crashed the Kolkata side by a convincing margin of 3-0. Bangaluru were leading by a goal scored by Shaun Rooney at the breather and increased the tally at the second session through Sunil Chetri and Robin Singh. But, it is really surprising to note the strategy of Elco Schattorie which really can be blamed for the performance of East Bengal. The Red and Gold played a numerous passes in the middle third but failed to create any impact to John Johnson and Curtis Oceano.

In fact it has been observed that Dudu Omegbemi to play as a withdrawal role in the middle third rather than to help Ranty Martins in the up front. The central defense comprises of Raju Gaikwad, Gurwinder Singh and Deepak Mondal were unsettled in front of the speedy and well combined attack of Bangaluru FC. Except for the last ten minutes East Bengal played an ordinary brand of soccer without any target , which made Bangaluru FC to dominate over their opponants.

Bangaluru FC qualified to play the knockout stages of AFC Cup in the maiden appreance are targeting to repeat the history in the I League. Though Mohun Bagan are leading the table and had an impressive performance in the competition so far.

Asthley Westwood can be complimented, who not only proved himself to build the team as a unit, but simultaneously made the physical conditions of the footballers up to a desired level to play in a same pace for the entire ninety minutes utilizing the modern infrastructure of Bangaluru FC.

Undoubtedly, the last lap of the I League are heading for a close finish. Mohun Bagan as well as Bangaluru FC will be in a target to earn full points from their remaining matches. A loss of point will going to change the contenders of the tittle.
