Liverpool FC International Academy and DSK Shivajians Launch Player Development Centre in Pune.
05.10.2016: DSK PRESS RELEASE : Liverpool FC International Academy – DSK Shivajians is delighted to announce the launch of their Player Development Centre in Pune, India. The Player Development Centre will be the first official Liverpool FC coaching programme in India, outside of the year-round Liverpool FC International Academy – DSK Shivajians residential programme. The Centre will be based out of HotFut Turf, Mundhwa, Pune, where the programme will run three times in a week in addition to experience days hosted once a month at the DSK Dream City fields.

Throughout the course of the programme, players shall get exposure to the official Liverpool FC International Academy curriculum. Over the years, this proven formula has produced football greats such as Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher. Also, it has guided the development of talented players in India at the Liverpool FC International Academy – DSK Shivajians, a group that comprises of 9 international level players across various age groups including Lallianzuala Chhangte and Jerry Mawihmingthanga who have both scored goals with the Senior Indian team and the Indian Under-23 squad respectively.

The motive of the Player Development Centre is to help kids aged 6 to 14 years learn to play "The Liverpool Way" in a safe and fun environment with an aim to develop players into good human beings both on and off the pitch. The Player Development Centre will also play a vital role in improving the players' skills with a focus on developing the technical, tactical, physical, mental and social aspects of their game. Furthermore, the Centre will serve as the base of the DSK Shivajians FC player pathway pyramid providing talented youth footballers with the opportunity to graduate into the Liverpool FC International Academy – DSK Shivajians residential program.

Shirish Kulkarni, President of DSK Shivajians Football Club, expressed his delight on the launch of the Player Development Centre. He said: “The success of the LFC-DSK Academy over the last two years along with the interest from the people of Pune has encouraged us to initiate the Player Development Centre in association with our technical partner Liverpool FC. I am confident that this project will help kids develop their football and life skills over the course of time. Hopefully, we will also identify local talent in the process that can go on to represent DSK Shivajians FC in the future. ”

Experienced Englishman Chris Ochwat, an FA qualified coach from Liverpool FC, will head up the Player Development Centre. Ochwat, who has previously led international coaching projects for LFC, will work with his team of coaches to bring Liverpool FC’s world class training methodology to the pitches of Pune next month.

Ochwat added: “This is a great opportunity for young players in Pune and its surrounding areas to be part of the Liverpool FC family, and begin their journey in the game. We have a fantastic programme ready for the participants which will provide a unique insight in to how we coach our players at the LFC Academy. We’re really looking forward to the start of this exciting project next month.”


DSK Shivajians FC add Chris Ochwat to Academy fold.
03.10.2016: DSK PRESS RELEASE : DSK Shivajians Football Club is delighted to confirm the appointment of Chris Ochwat as Head of the Player Development Centre and Grassroots Programme of the Liverpool FC International Academy – DSK Shivajians. The 28-year-old will be involved with the Academy full-time and will oversee DSK Shivajians FC’s grassroots programming.

Chris, who has 10 years coaching experience, has acquired qualifications such as FA Coaching Level 2 and FA Youth Module. He also possesses an Advanced National Diploma NSCAA and has worked with Liverpool FC since 2013. His projects with the Liverpool FC International Academy include being the Lead Coach for Soccer Schools in the United Kingdom and Scandinavia, Head Coach for LFC International Academy South Africa and Assisting Liverpool FC Academy Main Groups.

The Englishman, representing the LFC International Academy, has journeyed globally spreading the Liverpool Way in countries such as China, Malaysia, Sweden and the United States of America to name a few. Dave Rogers, First Team Manager of DSK Shivajians Football Club, welcomed Chris on board as he said: “I’ve worked alongside Chris for the last four years at Liverpool FC so I am delighted to have him become part of our family and long term vision of DSFC. His coaching qualities and his personality as a human being stand him apart from others and make him the ideal candidate to take up this role. I look forward to Chris developing into our system and have no doubts he will live up to the expectations that we aspire at DSK Shivajians.”

Shedding light on his decision to take up the challenge at Liverpool FC International Academy – DSK Shivajians, Chris claimed: “I am absolutely delighted to be part of this exciting project here at the LFC-DSK Academy. The meeting with the DSK Management team back in Liverpool before making the trip out to India confirmed the fact that the Club has a unique group of people sharing the same vision to improve football here in India.

“There is a real buzz around the club and I hope my addition helps to continue the success of youth development already accomplished by the LFC DSK team. My role as the Head of Player Development Centre will be to create a special experience for the youth of India under the guidance of qualified coaches.

“We will not only provide the opportunity for players to improve as footballers but also extend the tools to become better human beings. I can wait to get started in this special country and embrace the culture of the local communities and more." Chris has begun his new role at the Academy with immediate effect.
