16.08.2015 : INDIA U16 --- 1-0 --- Nepal U16 ( FT)
IND : Rahim Ali 20'
The Indian U-16 Colts progressed into the Finals of the SAFF U-16 Championship 2015 as they defeated Nepal 1-0 in the semi-final clash of the Championship on Sunday (August 16, 2015) at the Sylhet District Stadium in Sylhet, Bangladesh. The Indian Contingent will now face hosts Bangladesh, who earlier had edged past Afghanistan 1-0, in the Finals on August 18, 2015 at the same venue.

Coming off a 1-2 defeat against Bangladesh in the Group Stages, the Indian Colts showcased acumen and finesse in the arena as they mounted pressure on their opponents from the word go. With both Teams jostling for possession, the match became an end-to-end affair.

The Indian Contingent jotted together an array of passes, which also led to the opening of the goal scoring tally for the colts. In the 20th minute of the match, Rahim Ali latched onto a defence splitting ball by Amay Avinash, slyly evaded his marker, danced past the opposing defenders in the penalty box and exquisitely tapped home his opportunity to give the Indian colts a solitary goal advantage.

Leading 1-0 at halftime, the Indian colts held onto the solitary goal lead and disrupted the attacks of their opponents, whilst showing sheer determination and character, with utmost ease and grace. The score-line remained the same at the end of time, in favor of the Indian contingent.

13.08.2015 : INDIA U16 --- 1-2 --- Bangladesh U16 ( FT)
IND : Rahim Ali 48'

The Indian U-16 Colts qualified for the Semi-Finals of the SAFF U-16 Championship, currently being held in Sylhet, albeit suffering a 1-2 defeat against the host Nation, Bangladesh, on Thursday (August 12, 2015) in Sylhet District Stadium. A penalty for Bangladesh in the dying embers of the match cropped the hope of being undefeated in the Group Stages for the Indian Contingent.

After trailing by a solitary goal at Half-time the spirit of the Indian colts was seldom deterred and Rahim Ali blasted the ball in the back of the net in the 48th minute to equalize the deficit. With both Teams jostling for possession, the match became an end-to-end affair.

In the 82nd minute of the match Bangladesh earned a penalty kick and scored, as Reamsochung was tripped inside the box. At the end of full-time the score-line reflected 2-1 in favor of Bangladesh.

The Indian Colts thus finished second in Group A with three points out of a possible six, and hence qualified for the latter stages of the competitions. The Indian contingent will now clash swords against the winner of the Nepal versus Afghanistan tie on August 16, 2015.

09.08.2015 : INDIA U16 --- 5-0 --- SRI LANKA U16 ( FT)
IND : Saurav Mehar - 3, Self(Jersey No. 6 of Sri Lanka), Mohammad Sahajahan
India U-16 National Team got off to a winning start in the SAFF U-16 Championships when they defeated Sri Lanka U-16 boys 5-0 in their first Group League match at the Sylhet District Stadium, Sylhet, Bangladesh on Sunday (August 9, 2015). The Indian colts led 1-0 at the interval.

The first goal came in the 31st minute when Saurabh Meher provided the perfect finish to Rahim Ali’s defence splitting pass as he pushed it past the Goalkeeper. The second goal came in the 48th minute, three minutes after resumption. It was an own goal when a rival defender hit it into his own net trying to intercept a cross from Shahjahan.

India scored their third goal a minute later. Rakip flicked Shahjahan’s corner to Saurabh who slammed it in. The Indians continued their domination and soon scored their fourth. Shahjahan took his name to the score sheet when he tapped in the rebound after the rival Goalkeeper had failed to collect Saurabh’s long ranger. An opportunistic Saurabh completed his hat-trick in the 74th minute. He capitalised on the rival Goalkeeper’s failure to punch away Saqlain’s shot and put it into the net.
