Hill Boys' United FC won their 2nd match in Parsee Club Tournament ..

Hill Boys’ United FC, a club formed in Kolkata by a group of youths hailing from the hills of Darjeeling and Sikkim won its second match of the League stage at the prestigious Calcutta Parsee Club 5 a side Football Tournament.The team sponsored by kolkatafootball.com and co- sponsor by Hill-Queen Travels, won their first match 3 - 0 against Street Ballers Club of Kolkata.

Hills Boys’ defeated Shining Stars Club 3-2 in a hard fought encounter here this evening. The Boys came from behind twice to earn this victory showing in the process that never say die attitude of the Youths from the hills.

Shining Stars took the lead in the first half and it remained that way till the half time. But in the second half Loden Lepcha with a stinging shot brought back the Hill Boys into the game but the equalizer was short-lived as Shining Stars again took the lead.Under Pressure Hill Boys lost momentum for a brief while but Gyaltshen Moktan struck home and brought back Hill Boys into the game for the second time.

When it was appearing that the match would head for a draw.Jigme Dorjee who struck a hattrick in the last match found himself some space in the left half and scored to give the Hill Boys that all important victory. Now even if they draw their last game, Hill Boys will be through to the quarters.

Hill Boys United team manager Roshan Prasad said after the match “ The boys showed their character today and proved that even if we concede an early goal we can come back into the match”. On 22nd April Hill B oys will play against Police-A Team.


It is a club formed by the youths form the hills of Darjeeling and Sikkim with an aim to assist footballers from this region who come down to Kolkata seeking trails as well as to play in different clubs. It also has an objective to help out students who apply in the different colleges in sports quotas.

Hill Boys management is also planning to register the club with the Indian Football Association (West Bengal) which will give them entry into the Kolkata 5th Division League.

Mohun Bagan’s 1911 IFA Shield win among India’s top 10 sporting achievements..

Mohun Bagan’s sensational triumph in the IFA Shield of 1911 has been ranked among the ten greatest achievements of all time in Indian sport in a list brought out by the Mumbai-based All Sports Magazine. The Top 10 list features in its chronicle of the ‘101 Milestones in Indian Sport’ published in its third anniversary special issue of April 2010.

The magazine has also voted Viswanathan Anand as the greatest Indian sportsperson of all time for three world championship wins in chess in different formats and numerous other elite tournaments besides.

The bare-footed Mohun Bagan AC players defeated East Yorkshire Regiment 2-1 in the final of the IFA Shield 1911, the first time a native outfit had defeated a big British team in a major tournament, a feat which not only sparked off frenzied celebrations in the ‘city of joy’ but also nationalist reverberations across the entire nation.

Other footballing achievements that feature in All Sports Magazine’s list of ‘101 Milestones’ are India’s wins in the Asian Games (1951 and 1962), Neville D’Souza’s hat-trick in the 1956 Olympics quarter-final, East Bengal’s twin triumphs in the DCM and IFA Shield tournaments in 1973 against formidable North Korean outfits, Baichung Bhutia’s signing up for Bury FC (1999) as well as Sunil Chhetri’s recent exodus to the Major League Soccer, India’s LG Cup victory under Stephen Constantine in Vietnam (2002), East Bengal’s success in the LG ASEAN Club Championship (2003) and India’s hat-trick of triumphs under Bob Houghton in the Nehru Cup (2007 and 2009) and the AFC Challenge Cup (2008).

Renovation gift by Mohun Bagan Fan Club in Bengali New year..

The supporters and fan's are the main strength of any successful club. Mohun Bagan A.C, which is One of the oldest clubs of India have Billions of Fans and Supporters world wide.Some dedicated supporters of the club formed a fan club in 2009 named "Mariners On The Move" to help their favourite club.

The fan club members who worked hard for a few weeks to beautify and maintain their favourite club's green lawn.They have arranged 12 green metal lights and installed 2 fixed flood lights in order to attract the club supporters during evening time and restructured the caligraphy of the club.The cost of this project was Rs 50,000 which they earned from donations and subscriptions from their members.

Today on the auspicious first day of Bengali New year 1417, the newly built lawnwas inaugurated by Mr. Anjan Mitra ( General Secretary of Mohun Bagan), Debashis Dutta ( Manager Mohun Bagan) in front of huge Fans of Mariners on the Move.

Previously the Fan club published official Annual Calender and arranged a free medical check up for support staff and groundsmen of the club and distributed free medicine among them. Noth only that the Fan club sponsored Life Insurance worth Rs. 1 lakh for each of them.


Six person held, allegedly committing a robbery at AIFF office..

Six person were arrested today including the owner of a security agency,allegedly involved in the robbery of electronic items and fire fighting equipment which worth Rs.5 lakh, from the AIFF office in Dwarka.

The robbery happened in the early mornning of 2nd March this year.Three unidentified armed robbers who had covered their faces with handkerchiefs held two employees of the AIFF hostage at gunpoint and escaped after loading the robbed goods in a Maruti Omni van, which belonged to the AIFF.

Additional Commissioner of Delhi Police (Crime) told that, they have got information about the involvement of Bhupender in the robbery and the others are Birbal Singh (50) and Ashok Kumar (19) along with the owner of the security agency Rai Singh (37) and a scrap shop owner Jitendra Singh (24) who purchased the LCD TVs from the thief.


AKFDC, Pune starts International Referee and Coaching Course..

Bharati Vidyapeeth, Cheshire based International Football company Kick Worldwide, & Liverpool FC, have come together to establish the Abhijit Kadam Football Development Centre in Pune, India, the world’s first centre aimed at creating football industry professionals for the booming Indian football market.

    Dempo and Indian National Football team star Sunil Chettri made his official league debut Tuesday night for the MLS team Kansas City Wizards.He is the first Indian to ever join an MLS club. Chhetri was officially added to the the Wizards squad when they finally received the International Transfer Card.

    But Sunil's team Wizards were knocked out in the first round of MLS qualifying by the Colorado Rapids 1 - 2 .Chhetri who started as central midfielder position supported by striker Josh Wolff.He played for first 45 minutes of the match.
