The draw for the Group Stage of the 2014 AFC Cup has taken place at AFC House. 12 teams will only be confirmed after the Playoffs for the 2014 AFC Champions League and two Playoffs for the AFC Cup with clubs from Kyrgyzstan and Palestine. In Group H of EAST ZONE Pune FC or East Bengal, any one will get chance.

Indian side Pune FC will play against Vietnam side Hannoi T&T in AFC Champions League play off match on 2nd February 2014.

Pune FC will host Vietnam champions Hanoi T&T in their AFC Champions League Round-1 play-off competition on February 2.Next up for the I-League runners up will be Muangthong United of Thailand, which will be an away leg to be played in Bangkok on February 8.The tough qualifying process of the play off will have Pune FC face off with Melbourne Victory in Melbourne on February 15 to earn a berth in the AFC Champions League.Interestingly, if Pune FC enter the group stage they would be clubbed alongside defeding champions Guangzhou Evergrande (China), Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors (Korea Republic) and the Emperor's Cup champion from Japan. The schedule of the play-off matches was announced at the draw ceremony of the AFC Champions League as well as AFC Cup in Kuala Lumpur.

With India being allocated 2 AFC Cup slots with a caveat that should Pune FC fail to qualify for the main round of the ACL via the play-offs, they will take up one AFC Cup slot with I-League champions Churchill Brothers being the other, the draw placed Pune FC in Group H of the competition.

However, if Pune FC make it to the 2014 AFC Champions League, the door will be open for East Bengal who finished third in the I-League last season.

The future of Goan football was best seen in display as Dempo Sports Club successfully organized its first U-10 Grassroots Football Festival the Duler stadium in Mapusa. Dempo junior coaches along with club volunteer's mobilized to organize the first in a series of football festivals planned by the Panjim based club.

More than 200 boys from all across Goa enjoyed playing at the football festival which was held on a Sunday morning. The chairman of Dempo Group of Companies, Mr. Shrinivas V. Dempo was the chief guest for the function. The festival was aimed at creating a learning environment for 8-10 year old children and to give them an opportunity to learn the best practices on a football pitch.

Matthew Costa welcomed the teams while Gavin Araujo was in-charge of the festival. The stadium was divided into technical zones and playing stations. Each team had to pass through the zones and stations as directed by the volunteers. All the children participated in various activities like shooting, dribbling, passing, throwing and small sided games.

The festival also attracted the parents of the young footballers and were seen cheering for their wards from the stands. Senior players like Roberto Mendes D'silva, Samir Naik, Mahesh Gawli along with others paid a visit to the stadium to cheer the young children. Speaking to the children during a break Beto said that the boys reminded him of his childhood and wished that more such festivals should be conducted to encourage football at the grassroots level.

At the end of the festival all children received souvenirs and also enjoyed the photo sessions along with their parents and coaching staff.
