The Icon of Indian football Baichung Bhutia felicitated by East Bengal. Bhaichung is the first footballer in the history of Indian Football who honored with the 'AFC HALL OF FAME AWARD " in the AFC's 60th Anniversary at Manila. it was really a great achievement for Indian Football as well as for Bhaichung who has a remarkable record in national and in international circuit.

'East Bengal is my home club, I started my football from this club and now my desire is to bid a goodbye to football from Red and Gold'. Yes, the Icon of Indian Football today declared that he will play for East Bengal in upcoming 2014-15 I-League. Bhaichung has scored 148 goals for East Bengal and his target is to reach a magic figure of 150 goals before he quits East Bengal .

It was in the year 1993 the ex International footballer Surajit Sen Gupta spotted Bhaichung from a camp which was organized by State Bank of India. Due to his initiative the young boy from a remote village of Sikkim, Namchi, joined the Red and Gold, who scored his first goal for East Bengal against Victoria Club in the Airlines Gold Cup.

Though Bhaichung stared his career when he joined Tashi Namgyal Academy at the age of 11.At a function today in front of numerous East Bengal fanatics and footballers club President Dr Pranab Das Gupta and Secretary Mr Kalyan Mazumdar honored Bhaichung Bhutia for his extra ordinary achievement of "AFC HALL OF FAME AWARD".
