Mohammedan Sporting Club has decided not to participate in any tournaments in the current season

It is indeed a sad news for Indian football. One of the oldest football club of the country Mohammedan Sporting Club has decided not to participate in any tournaments in the current season. It means, the club will not play the upcoming Durand Cup in Goa and the I-League's second division tounament. The more than 100-year-old club was unable to pay wages to its staff for the last three months. The club President Sultan Amhed declared the decision of the club's managing committee at Kolkata today. While interacting Sultan Amhed said that the club are without a sponcer and in acute financial crisis. The governing body of West Bengal football, IFA told that they were yet to inform about the such matter from the club, but If this happens, it will be unfortunate and painful for the Indian football fans.

Mohammedan Sporting will going to release most of their footballers, will going to concentrate to develope their infra structure and will be back in 2015 season. Sultan Amhed added that they are also protesting the activities of AIFF, who denied them to play the I-league due to Club Licensing.

The 123 years football club has a rich history in Indian Football. Distinguished by their famous black-and-white shirts Mohammedan Sporting founded in 1887 as the Jubilee Club which now formally known as Mohammedan Sporting from 1891 and have their fans and supporters world wide. Mohammedan is the first club in Indian football to win a crown continuously for five years (from 1934 to 1938). The club has the honour of winning all the tournaments in India except the I-League. Mohammedan Sporting are the defending champions of Durand Cup and IFA Sheild in the 2013-14 season. They also qualified for the I-League first division but were once again relegated to Tier Two.

Mohammedan Sporting the only Indian club to reach the semi-final of the Nehru Club Cup in 1990, the only international club held in India.
