English Premier League trophy reaches Goa.

DEMPO PRESS RELEASE : The iconic Barclay's Premier League trophy was on display at the Channel-V Indiafest 2014 being held at Baga on Friday. This is the first time that the EPL trophy has reached Goan shores.

The English Premier League, which is one of the biggest and continuous annual global sporting events in the world, is broadcast in millions of homes over 200 countries. The Premier League trophy offers an opportunity for the football fans in Goa to get up close and get a feel of the 25 kg glittering cup made from silver. And for those who follow Manchester United passionately, they have a chance to get an autograph and pose for a photo with the legendary MUFC player 'Denis Irwin'.

Irwin played who played as a full back during his long and successful career at Manchester United from 1983 to 2004 was highly regarded by their ex-coach Alex Ferguson as his best ever signing.

The President of Goa Football Association and Chairman of Dempo Group of Industries, Mr. Shrinivas V. Dempo was invited to witness an exhibition match between Dempo Sports Club and Indiafest V. Later on, he was taken for an exclusive tour of the Premier League trophy and also posed for photographs with Denis Irwin and the Dempo SC team.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Dempo said "The fact that the Premier League trophy has come to Goa highlights the popularity of football in Goa and in India. I hope more youngsters take up to the beautiful game and ensure steady flow of talent that translates into success for India internationally. I do hope that someday an Indian player will be a part of an EPL winning team".

The trophy will be on display till 8th February.

SLFC PRESS RELEASE : After the grand finale of the Aircel 5 A Side campus football held in May 2013, Shillong Lajong selected 5 boys from the 5 teams (Meghalaya, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland) who qualified for the final round to represent their state. These boys were judged to be the best from their team by the Shillong Lajong Coaches.

All these boys were invited to train at the club facility namely Haobijam Dayananda Singh from Manipur, Zosangliana Khiangte from Mizoram, Uttam Kumar Das from Assam and Ynpynkupbor Nongbsap from Meghalaya. The player from Nagaland unfortunately could not make it for the training camp.

The one week training session kicked off from the 27th of January 2014 and successfully concluded on the 1st of February 2014. The young and talented footballers made full use of this once in a life time opportunity as they trained with the players from the Club which is currently placed fourth in the I-League table.

Shillong Lajong hosted the players and provided them a lot of insights to the game which helped the youngsters gain a lot of knowledge including immense exposure and confidence.

All the boys trained alongside the junior players of Shillong Lajong and also played friendly matches against the senior players during their one week training in Shillong.

The boys were very grateful for the opportunity given by the Club and even though the training was for one week, they admitted to have learnt a lot from the Shillong Lajong Coaches and players.

AIFF PRESS RELEASE : The FIFA Players' Agents Regulations Examination will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2014. The examination material will consist of the following documents. Last date of application be subimitted within February 28, 2014. The shortlisted candidates would be intimated by March 4, 2014.
