India stays talking point in Soccerex Event

PRESS RELEASE - AIFF Media Team : Mr. Sunando Dhar, CEO, I-League represented All India Football Federation in a Soccerex initiative which was held at the Marriott Hotel, Amman, Jordan on May 5, 2014. Besides Mr. Dhar, AFDP Founder, HRH Prince Ali Bin Hussein and Mr. Duncan Revie, CEO, Soccerex, were also present as India stayed one of the key talking points in the function.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Revie announced that Mr. Kushal Das, General Secretary, AIFF would lead a delegation of key stakeholders from Indian Football to the Asian Forum in May 2014. The Forum will be held on May 13-14, 2014 at the King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Centre by the Dead Sea in Jordan.

Speaking at the same Event, Dhar opined that he was very much 'optimistic about India's Football growth in the next 5-6 years.' "India is going through a major transformation and the results of the last decade's work are visible. India is witnessing huge progress on various fronts which include the I-League, the National Team Development Programme and Grassroots Development," he said.

"India has won the bid to host the FIFA 2017 U-17 World Cup which will be a game changer for the Sport in the Country," he added. Mr. Osvaldo Ardiles, Brand Ambassador for Soccerex, also a member of the triumphant 1978 Argentina squad which won the 1978 World Cup was also present at the Event.

The Asian Forum would be followed by the Soccerex Global Convention which will be held in Manchester from September 6-10, 2014 which would be attended by a delegation of around 50 representatives from Indian Football. The delegation would be facilitated by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce (FICCI) along with AIFF.

Garhwal FC U-19 Open Trials An Overwhelming Success

PRESS RELEASE- GFC : Garhwal FC successfully conducted its first open trials of the season for its U19 team on 2nd March 2014. More than 350 young footballers from different parts of the country travelled all the way to showcase their talent. The trials saw players coming from as far as Kerala, Hyderabad, Goa, Assam, Meghalaya and Manipur in addition to neighboring states such as Punjab, Uttarakhand, UP and Haryana.

"We are overwhelmed by the number and quality of talent that was at display and heartily thank all these youngsters for participating in the trials. It has been a very difficult task to shortlist the final few and our coaches had to work hard for over 12 hours along with the boys. The entire Club is impressed at the sincerity and determination of the players who came from so far away.", said MS Patwal, one of the Club's seniormost directors.

Following is the PROVISIONAL list of probables for the GFC U-19 Squad that will participate in the upcoming U19 I-League.

The above players will undergo a 2-week-long training camp in New Delhi with the rest of the GFC U19 team, at the end of which a combined 20-member squad will be selected to represent the Club in the U19 I-League that is to be held at Jamshedpur, Jharkhand from 8th of April 2014.
