Ballon d'Or 2016 : Cristiano Ronaldo wins for the fourth time

12.12.2016 : PORTUGAL AND REAL MADRID STAR Cristiano Ronaldo has won the Ballon d’Or award for the fourth time with 745 Votes. Ronaldo is now one short of his Barcelona rival Lionel Messi’s 5 times winning record of Ballon D'or. Messi finished second this time with 315 votes. Atlético Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann came third with 198 votes. Ronaldo's Real beat Atletico Madrid in May to become European champions for a record 11th time. Ronalodo's Portugal won Euro 2016 in France to lift a major trophy for the first time. He has scored 48 goals in 52 games for club and country in 2016.

Diego Maradona Nagaland visit postponed

11.12.2016 : The visit of Ex – Argentinean world super star football Diego Maradona has been postpone to January, 2017. “Yes his visit is postpone till January, 2017” this was confirmed by Khriehu Liezietsu, Nagaland’s Parliamentary Secretary, Youths Resources and Sports(YRS) to today. “We don’t know why his visit was postpone” he added.

Earlier last month, Nagaland department of youth resources and sports said Maradona will play an exhibition match with an under -16 team on December 12 at Local ground, Kohima , adding Nagaland Chief minister T.R. Zeliang was to host a dinner for Maradona, who will be a state guest during his stay. A NGO based in Mumbai, Northeast for Child Rights, is helping the state government to arrange the soccer icon's visit to Nagaland.
