EAST BENGAL DAY OBSERVED IN A COLOURFUL FUNCTION
1.8.16 :East Bengal club celebrates "EAST BENGAL DAY" on the occasion of their 97th birthday. At Khudiram Anushilany Kendra East Bengal feliciated some sports personality in presence of the chief guest, Chief Minister of West Bengal,Mamata Banerjee and a host of dignitries ex-footballers and fanatics.The East Bengal football team along with coaching team were present at the function.
Milkha Singh the "PADMASHRI" awarded athlete, reckoned as 'The Flying Sikkh' won gold medal in Commomwealth Games and Asian Games were awarded with "BHARAT GAURAV" for his extraodinary achievement in sports feild. The award was handed over to his Secretary as Mikhla Singh unable to reach Kolkata due to his illness. The two footballers of Yesteryear Shyamal Ghose( Bomkesh Bose Memoria Trophy) and Shyam Singh Thapa(Dr Ramesh Chandra Sen Memorial Trophy) feliciated with "LIFE TIME ACHIEMENT AWARD" , while Do Dong Hyun, the Korean midfeilder were awarded with "FOOTBALLER OF THE YEAR"(Banwarilal Memorial Trophy).
The match officials were also feliciated by East Bengal. Football referee Mriangshu Bhattacharjee and Anamika Sen recieved Pratul Chakraborty Memorial Trophy and Pankaj Gupta Memorial Trophy repectively.
The fifth edition of the "FOOTBALL ALMANAC were released by the chief guest Mamata Banaerjee. While addressing in his speach Mamata Banerjee promised to grant an amount of two crores to East Bengal for the devolopement of the infrastructure within the next two years. She assured that the remaining work of East Bengal ground would compelte within a short span.
Earlier in the morning, Red and Gold flag waisted by the General Secretary of East Bengal Kalyan Mazumdar and Head Coach Trevor James Morgan at the club premises in presence of the footballers.
