MANIPUR GIRLS ARE THE WINNERS OF JUNIOR NFC 2016-17
17.07.2016: Manipur proved to be too strong for Haryana in the final of the Junior National Football Championship for girls as they overpowered their counterparts by an unassailable margin of 4-1. Ratanbala Devi scored on the either side of the break and Hemolata Devi nailed a second-half brace for the Highlanders whereas Renu scored the solitary goal for Haryana.
Mr. Sudam Marndi, Minister of Sports & Y.S, Govt. of Odisha; Mr. Asirbad Behra, Hony. Secretary, OCA; Mr. Debashish Samantaray, President, Football Association of Odisha & Honourable MLA, Barabati-Cuttack and Mr. Sanjay Behera, Secretary, FAO were present among the dignitaries to hand the medals over to the girls.
PRESS RELEASE AIFF : 17.07.2016 : The Indian U-16 National Team presently on an exposure Tour in Europe defeated TSG Hoffenheim U-16 2-1 in a practice match on Saturday (July 16). The match was played in three halves of 30 minutes each with an interval of 5 minutes in between the halves.
After a barren 30 minutes which was evenly contested, Hoffenheim replaced their entire starting XI with 11 new Players at the 45th minute mark.India surged into the lead in the 48th minute off a free-kick – Sanjeev’s left-footer from outside the 18-yard box curled into the net beating the rival Goalkeeper.
Thereafter despite Hoffenheim enjoying more ball possession, the Indians kept their defence compact and depended more on counter attacks. However, Hoffenheim restored parity in the 81st minute making it 1-1.
But it wasn’t long before the colts scored the match winner. Boris Singh dribbled past three defenders and laid it for Aman Chetri. The latter foxed the rival defence with his dummy enabling Komal Thatal to gleefully place it into the net.
12.07.2016 : The Indian U-16 National Team presently in Europe for an exposure Tour as part of their preparatory process for the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup defeated Saarlandauswahl U-18 Team 5-0 in a practice match. For the winners, Aman Chhetri scored a brace while Komal, Sanjeev and Amarjit scored one apiece. India led 3-0 at the half-time.
In what was an one-sided match, the Indian colts coached by Nicolai Adam opened the scoring in the 7th minute through Komal Thatal. Amarjit playing in the Central midfield flicked it for Komal who made no mistake.The second goal came some 10 minutes later. Amarjit essayed a defence splitting pass to Aman who placed it past the onrushing rival Goalkeeper.
India made it 3-0 four minutes prior to the interval – in the 41st minute. Amarjit found Komal on the left flank and the latter got past the defender and laid it for Aman to place it in.Changing over, it took another 13 minutes for India to score again when Sanjeev curled it in from a free-kick in the 58th minute.
Amarjit completed the rout in the 69th minute. Ninthoi dribbled on the right flank and tried to find Komal. The latter’s dummy run foxed the rival defence enabling a cool Amarjit to slot it home.
