29.07.2016: One the most important day in the club calendar is 29th July when Mohun Bagan Day is celebrated every year. It was on 29th July 1911 ,when Mohun Bagan lifted the IFA Shield for the first time in pre independence era defeating East Yorkshire Regiment in the final.
In a glamours function at the club ground Mohun Bagan felicitated Sayed Nayeemuddin with "MOHUN BAGAN RATNA" and a cash award of one lack.The award handed over to Sayed Nayeemuddin by the General Secretary of Mohun Bagan Mr Anjan Mitra. It was really a proud moment for Nayeemuddin, who honored with "ARJUNA" and "DRONACHARYA AWARD" by the Government of India . The "FOOTBALLER OF THE YEAR" awardee Sony Nordi and Jeje Lalpeklua were not present to receive their awards.
In the afternoon two exhibition matches played where the ex footballers participated.The second match played between Sports Journalist and the film stars of Tollygunj Film Industry.
27.07.2016: Mohun Bagan Day to be celebrated on 29th of July at the club ground in Kolkata maidan. Mohun Bagan will going to felicitated footballers along with the personal from the other disciplineof sports on 29th evening.
The ex-footballer and coach Sayed Nayeemuddin will be awarded with "MOHUN BAGAN RATNA" while Jeje Lalpeklua and Sony Nordi will be felicitated with the "FOOTBALLER OF THE YEAR" award for their outstanding contribution in the recently concluded season.
Sayed Nayeemuddin can be rated as one of the successful central defender in Indian football. In the young age Nayeem was under the guidance of S.A.Rahim, one of the legendary coach at Hyderabad. Nayeem was introduced in Kolkata by J.C.Guha of East Bengal and later played in all the three big clubs of Kolkata- East Bengal, Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan Sporting quite successfully. Nayeem represented India in a number of important international matches.
Sayed Nayeemuddin was the coach of India National team as well as the three giants of Kolkata. He is rightly awarded with "DRONACHARYA AWARD" by Government of India in 1990 for his contribution to sport in India. He is also the recipient of the prestigious "ARJUNA AWARD".
Syed Nayeemuddin remains one of the most educated coaches in Indian football is known to be a strict disciplinarian and expects.
