IFA TO ORGANIZE KOLKATA FOOTSAL LEAGUE 2016

05.07.2016 : Indian Football Association(West Bengal) to organize Kolkata Footsal League 2016 on and from 8th of July. This is the second instance Footsal being organised by IFA. In 2005, 320 teams ( Para Division, District Div and 6 CFL Super Divn Teams) participated in Footsal organised by IFA. Which's final took place on 28th May 2005 at Ravindra Sarovar Stadium . This year IFA's commercial partner is Jagriti Sangha, a social and cultural organisation based at Mahamayatala, Garia.

The Kolkata Premier Division clubs of Kolkata East Bengal, Mohammadan Sporting, United Sports, Southern Samity, Aryans, George Telegraph, Peerless and Bhawnipur Club will participate. The clubs will be divided into two groups of four teams and the initial phases will be in knockout format. In addition six Women's football team - Taltala Dipti Sangha, Bally Gramanchal, Kolkata Police, Youth footballers Welfare, GS Roy Memorial and Shebayani will be a part of the Kolkata Footsal League 2016.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE TOURNAMENT :

Total players : 5 players, 5 reserves. Change of players by rotaion at any time of the match.
Foreign Player : 1 player are allowed to stay in the feild
Playing area : 42m / 25m

Measurement of goal post: 14 ft/ 4.5 ft

Prize Money : Men's team : Champion - Rs 40,000 , Runners Up - Rs 30,000
Women's team : Champion - Rs 30,000, Runners Up - Rs 25,000

While interacting with the media, IFA secretary Utpal Ganguly said every year Kolkata Footsal League will be organize which will act as a pre season tournament prior to CFL. Mohun Bagan denied to play in the tournament as they are not prepared to participate. The final match of the competetion will be played on the 16th of July.

AIFF CONDUCTS WORKSHOP FOR NATIONAL WOMEN’S LEAGUE

05.07.2016 :In an attempt to bolster the successful launch of the National Women’s League, which is slated to kick-off later this year, the All India Football Federation conducted a Women’s League Workshop at the AIFF Headquarters in the Capital today (July 05, 2016).

The Workshop was aimed to strengthen the Indian Senior Women’s National Team by developing a sustainable and competitive environment for Women’s Club Football. The workshop for the proposed National Women’s League was attended by participants of various Hero Indian Super League Clubs (Delhi Dynamos, Chennaiyin FC, Kerala Blasters, FC Pune City, Atletico de Kolkata) and Hero I-League Clubs (Bengaluru FC, Aizawl FC, Mumbai FC).

Speaking on the occasion, AIFF’s General Secretary Mr. Kushal Das said, “We believe that India has a lot of potential when it comes to Women’s Football and we want to capitalize on that”. “We have the potential to qualify for the AFC Asian Cup and then go on to play the FIFA World Cup in 2019”. “Keeping in mind the planned development of Women’s Football we will launch the Women’s League in October 2016 and this Workshop aims to get a consensus for successful launch of the League”, Mr. Das added.

Explaining the calendar planned for the development of Women’s Football and the National Team, Mr. Das said, “The AFC U-19 Championship will be in October and we will have a National Camp before that”. “Next, we intend to hold the National Championship in November and December, while the final phase of the National Women’s League will be held in January/ February 2017 building up to the Qualifiers in April 2017”

“The Women’s League will also give us an opportunity to identify talent for the Senior Women’s National Team in our quest to qualify for the FIFA World Cup”, the AIFF General Secretary stated. The Workshop also informed the attending Clubs of the AIFF’s National Women’s League Club Licensing criteria, the structure of the proposed National Women’s League and the roadmap for the qualification of the Senior Women’s Team for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2018.

“The Workshop aimed to brief the participants in how we would like to launch the National Women’s League, whilst encouraging their feedback as to how they can make the League better”, AIFF’s Technical Director Scott O’Donell told. He also told “We have done a lot of FIFA Live Your Goals programmes and we have seen the interest in the masses. We want to take this interest even further by launching the Women’s League”

Air India with the Champions Trophy  at the Inter Corporate Rooftop Futsal tournament

04.07.2016 : Air India won the Champion title at the Inter Corporate Rooftop Futsal tournament. Overall twelve teams from the corporate sector participated in the tourney where Air India beat Capgemini by 5-1 to win the title. Tournament played at New Town, Athghara, Rajarhat, Kolkata. A total cash prize was Rs 20000/- with trophy and medals.

Also, H. Napoleon Singh was honoured with the highest scorer award for scoring ten goals and Chandan Ghosh received the best goal keeper award. The team was highly applauded for the finest skills exhibited by its players.

The tournament was on 2nd and 3rd of July, 2016 organised by "Sportszinger", a sports event management company.
