GOA AND CHENNIYIAN ARE CONFIDENT TO BAG THE TITTLE
PREVIEW : 19.12.15 : FC Goa will going to play the final of the second edition of Indian Super League against Chenniyian FC on Sunday evening at the Jawharlal Nehru Stadium at Goa. It would be a full house at Fatorda as the tension is rising in Goa. Incidentally, these two teams were the semi finalist in the first edition but failed to qualify to play the final at Mumbai.
FC Goa, had an impressive mission through out the competition are confident to bag the tittle. The strikers of FC Goa are in the habit of converting which may add an advantage to the Goan side. On the contrary Chenniyian FC were at the bottom of the league table at one time, but they fought back tremendously in the later part, are one of the contenders of the tittle.
FC Goa lost to Delhi Dynamos by a solitary goal but came back strongly in the second semifinal at home when they demolished their oppornant by a margin of 3-0. Where as the Chenniyian FC had a comfortable win against Atletico De Kolkata at Pune by a margin of 3-0, but had to surrender in front of the speedy attack of Atletico De Kolkata in the second round by a margin of 1-2 at Kolkata.
FC Goa coach Zico will opt to follow the same strategy as he said in the pre match Press meeting, “I think there is no reason to change the game. We have come so far playing this way so we will play the same way. I think we know the team well but we have lost two times. But the final is different. The ground is same, the ball is same. It's 50-50 for both teams”.
The Chenniyian FC striking force are quite promising as Marco Matterezi are planning his strategies involving Jeje and Mendosa in the upfront. The Chenniyian coach feels that the match is evenly poised though they had a record of winning five match out of the last six outings. While interacting Marco said, “We were defeated in the last game. Twenty days ago, we were almost eliminated. We were fighting to survive. Now, despite our win here, it's a 50-50 game.”
Undoubtedly, Goa are waiting for a royal battle, as lot will depend on the strategies and game plan of the legendaries who will control the remote from the dugout.
