PREVIEW-ISL PRESS RELEASE : The return of marquee player Helder Postiga means Atletico de Kolkata will have a spring in their step when they take on the might of Delhi Dynamos in the Hero Indian Super League clash in Delhi on Saturday.

Postiga scored two goals in his team’s 3-2 win over Chennaiyin FC in the ISL opener on October 3 and was stretchered out due to injury. He has not played since then but has now rejoined the team, although it was not clear whether he has got the all-clear to start playing competitive matches again.

“We were all waiting for him,” Atletico de Kolkata coach Antonio Lopez Habas said during the pre-match media briefing where the marquee player himself was also present and said he was glad to return to Atletico de Kolkata. “I am at this moment in my last phase of recovery. I am happy to be here. I hope to get more fit,” said Postiga, who was recovering in Portugal and watched all ATK matches in the ISL.

“For me, this is the best team. I have lot of confidence in my friends and my coach and I hope the team wins the last games and qualify for the play-offs. I hope I can help in the next games,” said the Portugal striker.Delhi Dynamos coach Roberto Carlos said he was happy that a good player like Postiga was back in the ISL. “For the opponents, it's a moment to be happy,” he said.

The Brazil legend will also be pleased that his players on international duty will return to the Delhi Dynamos camp and he will be able to pick them against the defending champions. While Carlos did not speak about the other players, he confirmed that striker Robin Singh, who scored India’s only goal against Guam in the World Cup qualifier on Thursday, will start the match.

“Tomorrow, I am considering to start (Adil) Nabi with Robin Singh. We will be attacking and want a win. I will see what is the best. I will position the team so that Robin and Nabi can play together,” said Carlos.

Asked whether he himself will take the field, Carlos said, “It depends. It's possible. For me I feel very happy when I am on the pitch. I have fun when I play football.”Dynamos won the away clash in Kolkata by a solitary goal scored by Brazilian Gustavo Dos Santos in the 90th minute.

Delhi Dynamos have 14 points from eight matches and can move to the top of the table with a win. Atletico de Kolkata, who have 13 points from nine matches, can also move to the top with a victory that will take them above FC Goa (15 points from nine matches).

PREVIEW - ISL PRESS RELEASE : Nicolas Anelka is worried about his team’s unpredictability as Mumbai City FC gear up for the Maha Derby against FC Pune City in a 10th round clash of the Hero Indian Super League in Navi Mumbai on Friday.

Mumbai City are placed sixth at the moment with 11 points from eight matches. With a match in hand, they are just four points adrift of league leaders FC Goa but Mumbai’s marquee-player-cum-manager is more concerned about how unpredictable his team has fared in the first leg of the league.

“I believe we can do better than the away game we had in Pune but the Mumbai team is unpredictable. We can be very good on our day and we can also be very poor. That's not a good point but I hope we will see the very good face of Mumbai against Pune tomorrow,” said Anelka on the eve of the match.
For the opening round away match against FC Pune City, Mumbai City had missed the service of Sunil Chhetri and Subrata Paul. Anelka once again finds himself in similar situation with his star striker and goalkeeper on national duty. To add to his woes, Sony Norde too has flown back to join his national duty and will miss two match.

“They are good players, so of course we will miss them. But the team is ready and we will try our best to do the job without them," said the former Real Madrid and Chelsea star. nelka himself has not been at his best this season and promised to do more in the second phase. "I have been training well and think I will need more minutes on the pitch to be fitter. But, yes, you can expect to see more of me in the second part of ISL," explained Anelka.

FC Pune City's away form has been of concern as they have been unable to win any of their three matches played away from home. They lost against Chennaiyin FC and drew against Kerala Blasters and FC Goa. Manager David Platt, though, is not worried.

"We have only played three games away from home and it has been difficult. In Chennai, although we could have been out of the game in the first half, we finished well and could have got something. In Goa again we finished well. The only real performance we have had all season that displeased me totally was Kerala away, but it was our fourth match in 11 days with three of them being away," explained the former Manchester City assistant coach.

Pune City made a good start to their campaign and were largely expected to steal their place in the semifinals ahead of others. That has not happened and Pune find themselves in second place behind FC Goa and tied on points with Delhi Dynamos.

"Every team has gone through a patch where they have not been at their best. The parity in the league means there are no favourites, so others expectations have no consequence with me," said Platt. "Mumbai City will be a difficult game for us, away from home against a team that is there or thereabouts, so we will have to be disciplined in our play and confident to get the result," said Platt.

PREVIEW - ISL PRESS RELEASE : NorthEast United FC face Kerala Blasters, the team who they played in their Hero Indian Super League opener and lost 1-3, although now in a far better and influential position in Guwahati on Sunday.

NorthEast United FC are enjoying a three-match unbeaten streak which includes two victories (Chennaiyin FC and Atletico de Kolkata) in a row away and a convincing draw against Delhi Dynamos. The loss in the opener seems a very long time ago as the team has undergone massive transformation since start of the league.

“All victories and losses are in the past. We are focusing only on this game, which is different and one where all our players are available. When we played Kerala, we missed eight players and we were playing our debut game. Tomorrow, whoever shows up with the best attitude will win and we hope that it will be us,” said Farias.

NorthEast United are placed fifth at the moment with 13 points from nine matches. Depending on other results, a victory over Kerala Blasters can propel them to the top of the table, which will be astounding for a team that lost its first three matches.

“We have to take everything step by step, game by game. The focus now is solely on Kerala Blasters. The team is enjoying its good moments and we have to make the best out of it. We have to take the field with the same intensity as the last three matches. This game is like a final for us. These are very important three points,” said the NorthEast United manager.

NorthEast United interestingly will play four of their remaining five matches at home which Farias pointed out was a “big positive.” Kerala Blasters are at the bottom of the pool with eight points from nine matches but coach Terry Phelan is not giving up hope.

“We have been playing some good football in the last couple of matches and hopefully we can keep going,” said Phelan.Assistant coach Trevor Morgan was also confident that a turnaround is possible.

“We know the position that we are in. We will try to get three points and there will not be any negativity. We have to win four of our last five games. If we do not do that, it will be very, very difficult. Of course in football anything is possible. Unless it’s mathematically impossible, we have to keep believing we can do it,” said Morgan.

“NorthEast United is a good team. They have confidence at the moment and some great players. You cannot afford to switch off. You cannot sit back. We have to take the game forward and take the three points,” said Phelan, who confirmed that new signing Deepak Mondal is available for selection.

PREVIEW - ISL PRESS RELEASE : Delhi Dynamos will have to be sharper infront of goal as they battle FC Pune City in a crucial encounter of the Hero Indian Super League in Delhi on Thursday.

Delhi Dynamos are placed third with 15 points from nine matches but the Delhi club has scored just eight goals, the least in the ISL season 2 so far. League leaders FC Goa have 20 goals to their credit, while even Chennaiyin FC placed at the bottom of the table have scored 11 goals.Delhi Dynamos coach Roberto Carlos knows that they have not scored enough but is not pressing the panic button.

“The goals will come at the right time,” Carlos said at the pre-match media briefing.“I would have been more worried if we were not performing at all. We have to get on the pitch tomorrow against FC Pune City to win the game. My team is doing the best to win,” said Carlos.Interestingly, Delhi Dynamos have also conceded the least number of goals as their defenders have kept it extremely tight at the back.

FC Pune City, who also have 15 points in their bag and are second on the table with a better goal difference of plus one, have a battle on their hands.“Delhi may not have scored a lot of goals but they have won considerable points. Their defensive record is better than the other teams and they are difficult to break down. They are very settled team, not too much of rotation,” said Pune City manager David Platt.

Pune have not won any of their four matches played away from home, drawing two and losing the other two games. They play three of their last four matches away but Platt remained confident that they can get the necessary points that will help them qualify for the semi finals.

“I don’t think playing away is a huge factor how we perform. I don’t look at it as a concern, these four games. I just look at it as another game against another opposition. We can win matches between now and the end of the season, so there is no concern,” said Platt.

“Every single club has been through a patch where they faced problems. Ourselves and Delhi since the start of the season have been in the top four. That’s our immediate target,” said Platt.Platt said he was not attaching any additional importance to tomorrow’s clash which is between the second and third placed teams

“I wouldn’t look at this as crucial. We are all very well blessed (at the moment) as majority of our players are available,” said Platt, adding that there will be a lot of clubs who would want to be in their position.
