FC MUMBAI CITY MEDIA RELEASE - 27.07.2016: Mumbai City FC today announced the signing of two South American players from Argentina and Uruguay for the third season of the Indian Super League. These overseas stars are all set to strengthen and reinforce the squad and will be excellent additions to the squad for the upcoming season.
Gaston Sangoy, a 31 year Argentinian striker has previously won the Cyprus Cup in 2009-10 and more recently, the Polish I Liga in 2015-16. Having represented some of the major clubs throughout his career including Sporting Gijon, Apollon and Boca Juniors to name a few, Sangoy has continually shown fortitude when it has come to his performance. Be it in the toughest leagues and competitions such as the La Liga and the Europa League, Sangoy is now set to enthrall football fans in India.
Joining Sangoy, would be Uruguayan center back, Walter Ibáñez who has spent a major part of his career playing for the top divisions in South America. Ibáñez has been the recipient of the Peru Copa Inca in 2014 and the Top Chilean League in 2014-15 and is looking forward to bringing home the cup for his new team Mumbai City FC this year.
CHENNALYIN FC MEDIA RELEASE - 26.07.2016: Indian Super League champions Chennaiyin FC is delighted to announce that they have retained experienced Italian central midfielder Manuele Blasi for the third season of the ISL. The former Roma, Juventus, Napoli and Fiorentina midfielder joined Chennaiyin in 2015 after the expiry of his contract at Italian Serie B club AS Varese.
Blasi went on to play a key role in Chennaiyin’s title success, making 13 appearances including starts in both legs of the semi-final against Atletico de Kolkata and the final with FC Goa. The midfielder, who was capped eight times for Italy at international level, brought a lot of solidity to Chennaiyin’s midfield with his tenacity and work rate and was also a very popular figure in the dressing room. The 35-year-old had a stint at Italian third tier outfit Ischia after ISL 2015 and is now joining Chennaiyin on a free transfer.

CHENNALYIN FC MEDIA RELEASE - 22.07.2016: Indian Super League champions Chennaiyin FC retain Brazilian defender Eder Monteiro and goalkeeper Pawan Kumar. Eder joined Chennaiyin last year but his campaign was hampered by injuries and he could only make two substitute appearances. The 32-year-old from Sao Paolo joined I-League side Salgaocar after ISL and made 12 appearances.
Former I-League winner Pawan was signed by Chennaiyin on loan from I-League’s Mumbai FC in place of injured custodian Nidhinlal Maloy through the 2015 ISL season and went on to be a part of the ISL winning squad. Pawan made 11 appearances for Mumbai in the I-League and has now signed for Chennaiyin on a permanent deal.

Points Docking of FC Goa Revoked
In response to FSDL’s appeal against docking of 15 points of FC Goa ahead of ISL season 2016, the ISL Appeals Panel found merit in FSDL’s argument “to keep football fans interest above all matters, and to provide a level field for all teams.” The ISL Appeals Panel in its judgement revoked the sanction on 15 points docked on FC Goa, thus allowing FC Goa to start their ISL 2016 campaign on par with other teams in the League.
Ban on FC Goa’s owners lifted
ISL Appeals Panel has revoked the respective ban on two of FC Goa’s owners, viz. Dattaraj Salgaocar and Srinivas Dempo. The decision was taken basis letter of regret submitted by the owners and Elano Blumer, to the ISL Appeals Panel, terming the incidents as something that happened in the heat of the moment.
Since it was a first time offence and based on the regret letters received, the Appeals Panel has revoked the respective bans on the owners. The Appeals Panel noted that players, Club officials and all others associated with the League need to display behaviour that is an example for the fans and public.
FC Goa to pay Rs 6 crore to FSDL
Appeals Panel has reduced the FC Goa’s financial penalty to Rs. 6 crore from the earlier Rs. 11 crore. The Appeals Panel also stated that this amount to be paid to FSDL, should be utilised for investments solely in grassroots development programmes for football in the country. Appeals Panel also set aside Rs. 1 crore penalty levied on FC Goa to be paid to Chennaiyin FC as part of the latter’s legal expenses.
FSDL management accepts Appeal Panel’s order. FSDL is delighted for the fans of FC Goa as the Panel today revoked verdict on docking of points. Goa has come together in unified colour since the inception of ISL. The fans’ unwavering support for FC Goa has only helped the growth of football in the state.

19.07.2016 : Mumbai City FC today announced the signing of two overseas players from Brazil and Romania for the third season of the Indian Super League. These overseas stars are said to be strategic additions to further strengthen the defense of the team. Their experience will provide a rock-solid base for Mumbai City FC in the upcoming season.
Roberto Volpato Netto, originally a Brazilian Goalkeeper, was part of the team that finished runners-up in the CONMEBOL Copa Sudamericana in 2013. Netto has amassed a lot of on-field playtime, garnering valuable experience in top Brazilian and Portuguese leagues, including having played for pedigreed clubs such as Vasco da Gama. At 6' 4", the commanding goalkeeper makes for a formidable figure at the goal post.
Lucian Goian, the former U-21 centre back for his home country has spent the majority of his career playing in the top division of the Romanian League and emerged a two-time Romanian Cup Winner, including the most recent one in 2015-16. Goian recently played under new coach Alexandre Guimaraes at the Chinese Super League side Tianjin Teda. He has played for top clubs such as Dinamo București in the UEFA Champions League, and comes in with a lot of experience at the best level.

Chennaiyin FC sign Nallappan Mohanraj and Dhanpal Ganesh
19.07.2016 : Indian Super League champions Chennaiyin FC have signed the Tamil Nadu-born duo of Nallappan Mohanraj and Dhanpal Ganesh on one-year deals. Left back Mohanraj spent the first two ISL seasons with Atletico de Kolkata and won the tournament in 2014. Mohanraj got his early football education at SDAT Madurai Sports Hostel and SAI Chennai Hostel before appearing for India at various age group levels.
The 27-year-old made 11 appearances for Atletico de Kolkata over the first two ISL campaigns with his first goal in the tournament coming last season against Kerala Blasters. Mohanraj also had a spell at Pune FC and had been part of the India senior national team setup under Bob Houghton since 2008 with the senior international debut coming in March 2011 during the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers.
Central midfielder Ganesh was signed by Chennaiyin on loan from Pune FC last season but Ganesh suffered an ACL injury while on India team duty in September 2015 and thus missed the entire ISL. Chennaiyin have now signed him on a permanent basis. The 25-year-old made his senior India debut in June 2015 and regularly featured in current India coach Stephen Constantine’s plans before suffering an unfortunate ACL injury during a match against Iran last September.
“Ganesh was very unlucky to be injured last year. We hope to have him at his best this season. Mohanraj is already an ISL winner and has the quality to make a big difference in our title defence,” said Chennaiyin FC head coach Marco Materazzi. ongly.

ATLETICO DE KOLKATA TO PLAY THE HOME MATCHES AT YUBABHARATI
17.07.2016: Atletico De Kolkata to play the home matches at Yubabharati Kriangan ( SALT LAKE STADIUM) in the forth coming Indian Super League. Yubabhati is under renovation for the U-17 World Cup which is schedule in 2017. Sources said that FIFA already intimated to the All India Football Federation that matches of the ISL can be organised at Yubabharati without effecting the renovation that are underway in the stadium.
According to a reliable source that some parts of the stadium will be close which is under renovation.
But it is not clear till now regarding the home matches of East Bengal and Mohun Bagan in I League. The top two teams in Indian football were forced to play I League matches at Barasat stadium and even at Siliguri in the last edition of the competition.
17.07.2016 :Indian Super League champions Chennaiyin FC is delighted to announce that they have signed permanent deals with Harmanjot Singh Khabra and Raphael Augusto.
Khabra was on loan from East Bengal to Chennaiyin in the first two ISL seasons but has now signed a one-year deal with the Chennai-based franchise on a permanent basis.
Brazilian Augusto joined CFC on loan from Brazilian giants Fluminense during ISL 2015 but has now signed for Marco Materazzi’s side on a free transfer for the 2016 ISL campaign.
Khabra is the joint-most capped Indian player for Chennaiyin with 27 appearances and has four assists over the two seasons. Although primarily a central midfielder, the 27-year-old from Punjab has also featured as fullback for CFC and is considered to be the club’s Mr. Versatile.
Augusto was instrumental in Chennaiyin reaching the playoffs in ISL 2015 as he made 12 appearances and was rated third among most successful tackles. The 25-year-old’s all-round game from central midfield was second to none in the league so it was unfortunate that he got injured in Chennaiyin’s last home match in the league stage against Mumbai City FC and missed the rest of the tournament.
Coach Materazzi regularly picked the central midfield pairing of Khabra and Augusto last season and he expressed his delight on retaining the duo for the title defence.
16.07.2016 : Nelo Vingada, the coach from the Euro 2016 Winner Portugal signed ISL team Noth East United as head Coach. Nick-named "The Professor" Nelo Vingada has coached extensively in Asia and comes to India with a proven track record of winning.
In the 1996–97 season, Vingada became the manager of the Saudi Arabian national team, winning the Asian Cup in 1996, and qualifying for the 1998 FIFA World Cup. In 2005 he became the head coach of the Egyptian national U-23 football team. He was Assistant of Carlos Queiroz and the Iran national football team during the qualifiers of the 2014 FIFA World Cup and became the manager of the Iran Olympic team, signing a two-year contract until the 2016 Summer Olympics.

15.07.2016 : The winner of the inaugural edition of ISL, Atletico De Kolkata today introduced their Head coach Jose Francisco Molina Jimenez in a media meeting at Kolkata. Molina came in place of Antonio Lopaz Habas who managed the Kolkata franchisee of the Indian Super League in the first two editions.
Jose Molina was not new in Kolkata. In fact Molina came to Kolkata as a member of Kitchee FC of Hong Kong to play in the AFC Cup against East Bengal.Jose Molina has been successful manager for clubs like Villarreal B and C divisions, Getafe B division and in Kitchee FC. While interacting with the media Molina said that he is confident enough to perform well in third edition of ISL. He know some of the footballers especially of East Bengal who played against him during his tenure with Kitchee FC.
Atletico De Kolkata will start their pre season training camp at Madrid on and from 22nd of August. As Molina said that he will have a close look to his footballers at the training camp at Madrid and plan his stategy.
Atletico De Kolkata are yet to finalize their marquee footballer. The co owner of the Kolkata franchisee Sanjib Goenka said that the decision regarding marquee will be finalize shortly. Atletico De Kolkata unveiled their official team jersey in the media meeting.
15.07.2016 :Indian Super League champions Chennaiyin FC is delighted to announce that the trio of Karanjit Singh, Mehrajuddin Wadoo and Thoi Singh have signed one-year extensions with the club
Goalkeeper Karanjit and midfielder Thoi were bought by Chennaiyin in season two during the player auctions while Wadoo joined Chennaiyin on a free transfer after playing for FC Pune City in the inaugural ISL campaign.
Karanjit proved to be a great understudy for ISL 2015 Golden Glove winner Apoula Edel Bete as the Punjabi goalkeeper won the Emerging Player Award on his first two ISL appearances with the penalty save in the 1-1 draw with Kerala Blasters being the highlight.
Thoi started in 16 of Chennaiyin’s 17 matches, providing three assists and he made the most successful tackles (71) in the league. The Manipuri midfielder’s workrate and consistency also won him as many as five individual awards.
Wadoo was undoubtedly one of the most consistent defenders of ISL 2015 and was ranked third in the category of most blocks. The Kashmiri’s solidity and experience at right back brought a huge improvement in Chennaiyin’s defending in the second season compared to the first and it was his long ball that brought the equaliser against FC Goa in the dramatic final, which CFC won 3-2.
“Thoi, Wadoo and Karanjit played important roles in our success last season. We are happy to have them back for our title defence,” said Chennaiyin FC head coach Marco Materazzi. After the ISL, Karanjit and Wadoo had loan stints at Goan clubs Salgaocar and Sporting Clube respectively. Karanjit inspired Salgaocar to survival while Wadoo played his part in Sporting’s fourth-placed finish.
“I would like to thank Chennaiyin for showing faith in me again. I gave my best whenever I got a chance to play last season and this year I am going to work even harder to make Chennaiyin champions again,” said Karanjit.
“Being at Chennaiyin was like being with a family. I enjoyed my stint last season both on and off the field and so I am delighted to have renewed with them again. I would like to thank Marco and the owners for giving me another chance at Chennaiyin and my aim will be to perform even better than last season,” Wadoo stated.
Thoi was on loan at Bengaluru FC after ISL 2015 and he went on to win his second I-League title to cap off a memorable season.
“I am delighted to sign an extension with Chennaiyin. The coach, owners, staff and fans supported me a lot and that brought the best out of me. However there is plenty of room for improvement so I have to raise my game further and help keep the trophy in Chennai for another year,” said Thoi.
13.07.2016 :Kerala Blasters FC today announced that it has signed Pratik Chaudhari for the Indian Super League 2016, which will also mark his debut in the league.
Currently playing as a defender, Pratik Chaudhari’s football journey from his student days at St. Sebastian, Chembur in Mumbai to the ISL has seen him working at a call-center in the night shift while playing for Bank of India and Union Bank of India.
It was his passion for football that kept him going before he joined Air India, representing it in the 2011 I-League against Prayag United. An unfortunate knee injury kept him out of action when he was shortlisted for the Indian team probables for friendly matches to be played against Singapore and Vietnam in 2012. After a stint with Rangdajied United FC, he was signed up by Mohun Bagan in August 2014. He made 13 appearances for Mumbai FC in the I-League 2015-16.
12.07.2016 : Indian Super League champions Chennaiyin FC are delighted to announce that they have retained defender Bernard Mendy for the third season of the ISL. The Frenchman is set to play for Chennaiyin for a third straight campaign, having been an inspirational figure for the Chennai-based ISL franchise in the past two seasons.
With 28 appearances, Mendy is Chennaiyin’s most capped player and has also netted three goals including the famous bicycle-kick strike against Kerala Blasters in 2014. A huge crowd favourite at the Marina Arena, Mendy made it to the team of the season in both ISL campaigns besides winning ten individual awards and lifted the trophy in Goa last December.
“Retaining Mendy endorses our club philosophy of valuing continuity. He has been one of the best players in the ISL’s first two seasons and is an icon in our city of Chennai. We believe he will once again inspire our team both on and off the field,” said Chennaiyin FC co-owner Mrs Vita Dani.
“We are very happy to have Bernard at the club for the third consecutive season. His class and experience were instrumental in our consistency in the first two campaigns. 12.07.2016 : Mumbai City FC announces the signing of Leo Costa for the Indian Super League (ISL) Season 3. Ashutosh Mehta and Albino Gomes have secured their spot in the team following strong performances last season. With this signing, Mumbai City FC is putting together a challenging squad for the upcoming season with eyes firmly set on the trophy.
The 30-year-old Brazilian, Leo Costa is comfortable playing multiple roles as an attacking midfielder, winger, as well as a striker with an eye for the goal. Having played at the highest level in Brazil and Czech Republic, Costa brings in great experience and quality with him to the Mumbai City FC camp.
Ashutosh Mehta, a highly versatile defender who provides solidity at the back and creativity while going forward. He is an I-League regular for Mumbai FC and figured prominently throughout the last few seasons. At 25, Ashutosh has gained a lot of experience in a short span of time. Having played for Mumbai City FC last year as well, he is eager to help the club reach the playoffs this year.
The 22-year-old Albino Gomes is a promising young goalkeeper having represented India at the U-23, U-19 and U-16 levels. He is a Gold medal winner with the Goa-India team at 2014 Lusofonia Games. Gomes has been part of Salgaocar FC in the I-league for four seasons in a row, and with an appearance under his belt for Mumbai City FC last year, he'll be looking to further grow with the team in season 3.
07.07.2016 : Indian Super League champions Chennaiyin FC are delighted to announce that they have retained Marco Materazzi as their manager for the third season of the ISL. Under the coaching of Italian World Cup winner Materazzi, Chennaiyin FC finished top of the league stage in the inaugural edition of the ISL and became the first-ever franchise to reach the semis, where they narrowly lost in the semi-finals to Kerala Blasters.
Chennaiyin retained Materazzi as manager in the second season also with the legendary former defender guiding the Chennai-based franchise to ISL glory. On their way to the title, Materazzi’s side created a new ISL record of winning five straight games before beating FC Goa 3-2 in a memorable final.
“From the day we signed Marco as our manager in the first season we have always believed in him and that faith has only been strengthened over the two campaigns. We are very happy to have retained him for the third season and this decision is in line with our club philosophy of continuity. We look forward to continued success and progress under his guidance in the upcoming ISL season,” said Chennaiyin FC owner Mrs Vita Dani.

Anwar Ali - Last Played 4 matches for Mohun Bagan in I-League 2015-16. 2013-14 he was a player of Mumbai FC. A talented Indian Defender recognised for his dominance in aerial battles kicked off his senior career with Punjab Police, then switched to JCT where he made a bright start by bagging the Most Promising Player award in the Durand Cup 2006. His dominant performances in Dempo and Mohun Bagan got him selected into the national team where he was the rock at the center of the defence that propelled India on a winning spree in the late 2000’s.
Pronay Halder - For Mohun Bagan in I-League 2015-16 Played 10 Matches and also played in AFC Cup 2016. Represented Mohun Bagan in the 2015-16 I-League as a defensive midfielder and is one of the promising Indian players around signed by Mumbai City FC. Halder has represented India at the under-19 and under-22 levels and has been an integral part of the Indian National team ever since he made his debut under the tutelage of Stephen Constantine last year. The Tata Football Academy graduate first created waves in Indian footballing circles with AIFF developmental side Pailan Arrows and then went on to represent Goan giants Dempo SC in the I-League and FC Goa in the ISL.
David Lalrinmuana - The Aizawl FC Captain in I-League 2015-16 got 5 times Man of the Match award. who will turn 24 in November this year, was the captain for Aizawl FC in the 2015-16 I-League season. Lalrinmuana helped Aizwal FC get promoted into the top division of Indian Football and was even adjudged Mizoram Premier League "Player of the Year" 2015 and 2016. Nominated for the FPAI Fans Player of the Year for the 2015-16 season, he will be seen bolstering the midfield this season for Mumbai City FC.
Sena Ralte - Lalhmangaihsanga Ralte,.widely known as Sena Ralte, started his career from the Esthar Academy and later went on to join Royal Wahingdoh promoting his team to the top division in 2013-14. Playing in the I-League, the left back developed a good rapport with Jackichand Singh and helped his team finish third in I-League 2014-15. 07.07.2016 : Kerala Blasters announced today its new signing of Thongkhosiem Haokip for the upcoming edition of the Indian Super League 2016. Popularly known as ‘Semboi’, the 22 year old gifted striker, who had a fabulous run last season scoring four goals from six appearances for FC Goa, will now don the yellow jersey for Kerala Blasters.
Thongkhosiem Haokip started his career with the Pune FC youth academy where he became the first academy player to net a hat-trick in an under-20 match. His fondness for scoring hat-tricks can be seen from his performance in the I-League 2014-15 season where he scored three times within 15 minutes against Shillong Lajong. He finished the season as the highest Indian goal scorer with seven goals in 18 matches. He repeated the hat-trick in the previous season of ISL becoming the first Indian player to score a hat-trick both in the ISL and the I-League.
Thongkhosiem Haokip said, “I am excited to be part of Kerala Blasters and hope to justify the faith put in me by the coach and the management. I am looking forward to meet and train with my new teammates and coach Steve Coppell.”

05.07.2016 : 2006 FIFA world cup winner ITALIA team member Gianluca Zambrotta has been appointed as new coach of ISL side Delhi Dynamos. In press meet he said "It's an absolute pleasure to coach Delhi Dynamos. By working together, we can be successful". Zambrotta played in 3 editions of the World Cup and 3 editions of the UEFA European Championship.
At the end of the 2011-2012 season, he announced his retirement from Milan; in the four seasons he spent with the Red and Blacks, at the end of which he was no longer under contract, he played 107 games and scored 2 goals.
In March 2013, after having received no attractive offers to resume his athletic activities, he decided to attend the UEFA Pro Master's in Coverciano (started in October 2012) to obtain a licence as a First Category coach.
In 2012, Zambrotta worked as a pundit for the Swiss-Italian broadcasting station RSI. In November 2012, in an interview with Rai Radio 1, Zambrotta revealed that, in the summer, he purchased a family holiday home near Dublin, Republic of Ireland and stated that he would be "open to the idea" of playing in Ireland's Airtricity League. In 2013 he joined as asst coch of Chiasso FC.
In 2014, Zambrotta opened a fitness complex in his hometown of Como, called Eracle Sports Centre. In 2015, he took part in and won the RAI 2 reality television game show Monte Bianco
01.07.2016 : Antonio German and Josue and 6 Indian Kerala Blasters from ISL 2015 join them in the list of retained players-National, Kerala Blasters announced today that Antonio German and Josue Currais Prieto will return to play for the team in the upcoming edition of the Indian Super League 2016. Joining them would be teammates Sandesh Jhingan, Sandip Nandy, Mohammed Rafi, Mehtab Hossain, Ishfaq Ahmed and Gurwinder Singh.
Antonio German found the back of the net six times in nine appearances last season and will look to take the momentum forward into the upcoming season along with his team mates. Antonio German played in the lower divisions of English football, playing for clubs such as Queens Park Rangers, Southend United and Northampton. He is a versatile player with quick feet who is equally effective as a winger and as a striker.
Josue Currais Prieto, also known as Josu, the midfielder from FC Barcelona’s famed “La Masia” football training facility is known for his technique and playmaking abilities. From the Barcelona youth teams, Josu played with Spanish club Olot before going on to play in Finland, Italy and Poland. While he played for most of his youth career as a defender it was in Finland on his coach’s advice that he started to play as a creative midfielder, a move that has paid off for him.
Mohammed Rafi, the mercurial striker from Kasargod has four goals from nine appearances in the Indian Super League. The former Indian striker shares the record of being the highest Indian goal-scorer ever in the I-League and National League along with Baichung Bhutia and Chhetri with 14 goals in the 2009-2010 season, a feat that saw him adjudged as FPAI’s Player of the Year.
Defender Sandesh Jhingan’s stellar ISL performances prompted a call up to the national team and the young footballer has already raked up four international caps. He was also named the Emerging Player of the Tournament in the inaugural ISL. Sandesh’s strength and ability to deal with aerial balls, and his calmness in a high pressure situation make him a valuable addition to the team.
Sandip Nandy is the goalkeeper for Kerala Blasters and is known as the team’s ‘silent guardian’. His successful professional career for both club and country began with his winning debut for Mohun Bagan in 1999. He has played for various clubs including Tollygunge Agragami, East Bengal, Mahindra United and Chirag United. The much-decorated goalkeeper was adjudged the best goalkeeper at the prestigious ASEAN Club Championship in 2003. In the last season of ISL, Nandy had an impressive save percentage of 86.66%.
Mehtab Hossain is one of the kingpins of Indian football having played for both club and country. A quiet man off the field, the defensive midfielder is known to completely change once he wears his football boots, fearing no one on the field. He has been voted FPAI Best Indian Player of the Season, Best Midfielder, and Fans Player of the Year. Mehtab will be hoping to improve on the nine outings he had for the Blasters last season.
A product of the JCT Academy, central defender Gurwinder Singh started his career with JCT in 2004. He has been a consistent performer on the domestic circuit playing for East Bengal. He earned a call up to the Indian National Football team preparatory camp in 2011. An excellent team man, his club level international experience will come in handy for the team in the current season.
Ishfaq Ahmed began his professional career with HAL, excelling in his first season. He then went on to represent clubs like Dempo, Mohun Bagan, Salgaocar, East Bengal and Mohammedan Sporting, winning several honours and titles. The versatile winger with good dribbling skills has the ability to fit into any position across the midfield. Ahmed featured a total of nine times for the Blasters last year.
