Mizoram football League 2014 - kolkatafootball.com The second leg of the Mahindra 2 Wheelers Mizoram Premier League (MPL) final was played last night at AR Lammual between Luangmual FC and Chanmari FC. Chanmari FC came out on top with a 3-0 win on the night and 4-2 on aggregate.

Chanmari FC had a great season, winning the MFA Super Cup, Independence Day Football Tournament, MFA Cup and now they are the champions of the Mizoram Premier League II. They have created a new record by winning all these trophies.

Chanmari FC R.Malsawmtluanga, H.Lalmuankima and Jerry Mawihmingthanga scored a goal each on the night while two Luangmual FC players were given the marching order in the second half. The match had to be halted by the referee for a while by the end of the match as Luangmual FC fans started to throw bottles and other stuffs into the ground.

Luangmual FC XI : Lalngaihzuala, Dinthangpuia, MS Dawngzela, Lalnunpuia, Lalramchullova, H.lalbiakthanga(Lallawmsanga), Reuben Zosangpuia, B.Malsawmzuala, MC Malsawmzuala(Laldingngheta), PC Zosangliana(Isaac Lalrinngheta), R.Lalthantluanga.

Chanmari FC XI : Lalawmpuia, R.Lalrinsanga, Zothanpuia, C.Lalrosanga, Lalruatthara, Lalruatfela, Rochhingpuia( C.Lalnuntluanga), R.Malsawmtluanga, H.Lalmuankima, MS Dawngzela( Vanlalrinchhana), Jerry Mawihmingthanga(K.Lalchhanhima)

Luangmual FC had the advantage going into the second leg as they won the first leg by 2-1and it was arguably one of the best performances of the season by Luangmual FC. They are known for their team work and they usually manage to score goals against any opponents.

Chanmari FC Head Coach Thlanga said, "We will go out and try to win the match by 2-0". Chanmari FC have enough quality to make a comeback and their ambition to play the I-league next season will be massively boosted if they managed to win this tie.

The match started with a great atmosphere and the ground was fully packed by the crowd who expect nothing but entertainment. At just 4 minutes C.Lalrosanga had the chance to put Chanmari FC ahead and Luangmual FC replied immediately with Captain B.Malsawmzuala who missed a very good opportunity.

Chanmari FC were slightly dominant and were given a penalty when attacking minded right back Lalrinsanga was brought down in the penalty area. The right back had also won a penalty in the dying minutes in the first leg. R.Malsawmtluanga stepped up to take the penalty at 37 minutes and struck the ball with perfection into the left corner of the goal giving no chance to the goal keeper who was wrong footed. Chanmari FC fans were on the feet singing and shouting! It was 1-0 at half time.

The second half brought much hope for both the teams as the aggregate score was 2-2. If the score is tied, the match will go straight to tie-breakers as extra time will not be played. Chanmari FC created many chances from the side and their crossing created havoc among the Luangmual FC defenders. But Fela and Jerry could not find the back of the net.

At 52 minutes Chanmari FC winger Fela crossed the ball which found the unmark left winger Mka who made no mistake with his effort to give his team the lead on aggregate! Luangmual FC were slow to recover after conceding the second goal and Chanmari FC scored another goal as promising youngster Jerry Mawihmingthanga scored a wonderful goal which was down to the hard working Dawngtea.

Luangmual FC players were protesting about a handball leading up to the third goal but two of their players - Lalnunpuia and Captain B.Malsawmzuala were sent off by the referee. The enthusiasm of Luangmual FC players after being reduced to nine men was enough to hold Chanmari FC who won the match and the league with 3 goals on the night.

TEN MEN AIZAWL FC GOES DOWN TO CHANMARI FC :: Michael Lalremtluanga

16.04.2014: Chanmari FC 2-1 Aizawl FC
CFC : H. Lalmuankima 25'; MS Dawngliana 60'
Aizawl FC : B. Zoramthara 49' MoM: MS Dawngliana, CFC

Mizoram football League 2014 - kolkatafootball.com. A team of quality players face off on a Thursday evening when Chanmari FC defeated Aizawl FC by 2-1. H. Vanlalthlanga's team had won all their matches in the Phase 2 and their total of 32 points is a new record for the highest point in a season. Chanmari FC will play the final as a Mahindra 2 Wheelers Mizoram Premier League leader and their opponent could be confirmed as soon as tonight.

Aizawl FC started the match well but suffered from losing their keeper MS Dawngliana who was sent off at 17 minutes. Chanmari FC took the lead through H. Lalmuankima at 25 minutes and it was equalized in the second half by Aizawl FC's B. Zoramthara but MPL Season 1 Top Scorer Chanmari FC's MS Dawngliana's goal at the hour mark proved to be the winner as he was the man of the match. In the injury time Chanmari FC keeper Lalawmpuia saved a penalty giving his team the maximum points.

The two teams have quality players and as expected, the quality of the game was good and the match was exciting right from the start. Aizawl FC Rohmingthanga dribbled his way into the dangerous zone and he was brought down by Chanmari FC defender Lalrosanga who was only given a yellow card. Aizawl FC David Lalrinmuana's freekick almost found the back of the net. Aizawl FC controlled the game but Chanmari FC were dangerous on the counter attack and Rochhingpuia's brilliant ball almost found winger Lalruatfela but Aizawl FC keeper MS Dawngliana touched the ball with his hand outside the penalty area and was sent off for the offence. Chanmari FC midfielder Malsawmtluanga's effort hit the post and MK-a missed the rebound. Chanmari FC took the lead at 25 minutes when MK-a's effort found the back of the net from the corner.

Second half began in an interesting fashion when 10 men Aizawl FC scored the equalizer with Thara finding the back of the net at 49 minutes with a great effort giving no chance to keeper Lalawmpuia. Chanmari FC Ruatthara assisted for Dawngtea in the 60 minute which was the decisive goal of the game. MPL Season 1 top scorer Dawngtea managed just two goals this season with his effort in this matc. MPL leaders Chanmari FC conceded a penalty in the injury time because of a hand ball. Aizawl FC forward Michael Lalremruata stepped up to take the spot kick but it was saved by keeper AwP-a and Chanmari FC won the match by 2-1.

Chanmari FC have won six matches in a row now. And they have not lost in the last twenty one matches. Under Coach Thlanga Chanmari FC played twenty eight times and won twenty five of them, drawn two matches and lost only once. They scored eighty three goals in twenty right matches conceding only sixteen goals. Aizawl FC did not have the best of times in the MPL Season 2 Phase 2 as they have not won any of their last six matches. Aizawl FC have conceded a goal against Chanmari FC on five occasions after 80 minutes that changed the whole complexion of the game.

POLICE DEMOLISHED FC KULIKAWN :: Michael Lalremtluanga
16.04.2014: : Mizoram Police FC   7-0   FC Kulikawn
MPFC : V. Laltanpuia 9'; Lalbiakhlua 32'(p), 50'; F. Lalrinpuia 57'; Lalfakzuala 61'; Lalnunmawia 72', 75'
MoM: V. Laltanpuia, MPFC

It was raining goals in a rather poor match between Mizoram Police and FC Kulikawn on a Thursday evening match. Mizoram Police scored seven goals against bottom side FC Kulikawn. Police players Lalbiakhlua and Lalnunmawia scored a brace each while V. Laltanpuia, F. Lalrinpuia and Lalfakzuala scored a goal each. Mizoram Police captain T-a was the man of the match.

Mizoram Police dominated the match right from the beginning where their forwards kept missing chance after chances. Biaktea scored a brace in which one was from the penalty spot and he missed two penalties in this match. He missed many chances in this match but he remained the leading goal scorer in the league with eight goals in this season. Valpuia and substitute Nunmawia also missed a handful of chances but could not convert most of them. Police had more than thirty chances to score in this match and were successful with only seven goals.

FC Kulikawn forwards were able to threaten Police defenders on several occasions and they too were not sharp when the chance was presented to them. There was a gulf in class between the two teams and the match was of low quality. MPL Season 1 best forward Valpuia had to be stretchered off at 79 minutes due to an injury.

Police have hopes of reaching the final with 22 points but a win for Dinthar FC against Reitlang FC on Saturday will end their hope of reaching the final. FC Kulikawn had a slim chance of surviving in the MPL and even a win against Aizawl FC in the final round will not be enough if Reitlang FC get a single point from their remaining two matches.

ZICO STARS FOR DINTHAR FC
-Michael Lalremtluanga

April 10 : Chanmari West FC   0-1   Dinthar FC
DFC : Zico Zoremsanga 88'
MOM : Zico Zoremsanga (DFC)

10 April: Dinthar FC's quest to reach the MPL final was helped by a star perfrmance from Zico Zoremsanga. The footballer from Khuangleng proved the difference yet again and under his captaincy, Mizoram has lifted the Santosh Trophy scoring important goals in the final.

On a Thursday evening, Dinthar FC took on Chanmari West FC in the Mahindra 2 Wheelers Mizoram Premier League and the winning goal for Dinthar FC came at 88 minute and the goal scorer Zico was the man of the match.

Chanmari West FC was the brighter of the two teams as the match started and Vanlalbiaa did create some problems for the Dinthar FC back line but not enough to trouble keeper Zothanmawia. Chanmari West FC dominated the game without creating much chance to score and Dinthar FC created more chances to score but Danmawia and Mawitea could not take advantage of the chances that came their way.

The second half was totally different thanks to the continuous support of the fans, the game was exciting. The two teams played with an intention to get the maximum point and Dinthar FC introduced forward Samuel Laltlanthanga while Chanmari West FC introduced Lalremruata (Arapa) and Lalvensanga. Dinthar FC winger Mawitea's wonderfully struck freekick was saved by keeper Laruatpuia and Chanmari West FC Mabiaa was a constant threat at the other end.

Dinthar FC could not seem to take the chances they have created and Mawitea was not sharp enough while it was not a lucky day for Danmawi either. MPL Best Player failed in a one on one situation with the keeper Mama. At the 88th minute keeper T. Mawia's long ball somehow found Zico who made no mistake to score the all important goal for Dinthar FC. Chanmari West FC gave their all to get a goal but Zico's goal was enough for Dinthar FC to register a 1-0 win.

April 10 : Aizawl FC   1-2   Mizoram Police FC

MPFC : Lalnunmawia 83', 86'
MoM : Lalnunmawia, MPFC

10 April: Aizawl FC were in the front foot for 80 minutes and a win for them would have crushed Mizoram Police FC's title aspirations. But substitute Lalnunmawia scored two goals in 3 minutes and Police came from behind to beat Aizawl FC by 2-1.

Mahindra 2 Wheelers Mizoram Premier League match on Thursday night between Aizawl FC and Mizoram Police FC was of the highest quality. Aizawl FC playmaker David Lalrinmuana's freekick at 41 minutes was equalized by Nunmawia at 83 minutes and he went on to score the winning goal at 86 minutes. Nunmawia came on from the bench at 63 minutes and become the hero and was rightly named the man of the match.

The Players: Aizawl FC fielded two Nigerian defenders Emmanuel Chigozie and Eric Obiora Angingo while there was a place for three of the most talented Mizo footballers - Rohmingthanga, David Lalrinmuana and Malsawmfela in the starting eleven. Keeper Vanlalhriata was missing in the Mizoram Police FC squad while Lalfakzuala, Lal?hathanga and C. Zothantluanga were all left out of the squad due to injury. Santosh Trophy champion player F. Lalrinpuia, Lalbiakhlua, V. Lal?anpuia and Lallawmzuala were in the starting eleven.

The match began in an exciting fashion and Aizawl FC playmaker David tested the keeper from 30 metres and his powerful effort was well saved by Police keeper Lal?anpuia. Aizawl FC displayed a very beautiful passing game, moving the ball around quickly. Aizawl FC showed their quality with their possession but the Police always made an effective counter attack whenever they have the chance. Captain ?-a led his team with determination and the Police players Valpuia and Biaktea well guarded with extreme caution by the Aizawl FC defenders. Aizawl FC took a well deserved lead at the 41st minute when David scored his first goal in the MPL Season 2 from a freekick. Aizawl FC Struck the crossbar at the Injury time while Police defender Lalremruata was stretchered off the ground because of an injury. It was 1-0 at halftime.

The second half was not as exciting as the first half but the two teams played to win. At the 63rd minute, Police manager B. Lalneihsanga took off Vanlalthanga for Nunmawia and the decision proved to be the difference of the game. Aizawl FC are yet to register a win in the Phase 2 and they seemed to lose concentration by the end of the match as usual. The Police showed their character and the 83rd minute corner from Biaktea was headed into the goal by Nunmawia for the equalizer giving no chance to keeper Msa. Aizawl FC failed to settle their game and three minutes later Nunmawia popped up again to make it 2-1 for the Police.

It has been a testing time for FC Kulikawn and their poor run of results did not help. They failed to win any points in the phase II so far conceding 18 goals already and they failed to score a single goal. They have conceded an average of 4.5 goals per game and failed to score in 360 minutes of football.

Luangmual FC did not start the phase II as they would have liked, getting four points from four matches. Winning their last match against an in-form Reitlang FC is a real confidence booster for them. And if they want to reach the final, they cannot afford to lose any points against FC Kulikawn and a win will be enough for them to leapfrog Dinthar FC who have a game in hand.

Luangmual FC dominated right from the start and the gulf in class was there to see. They were given a penalty at 5 minutes and their new recruit from Shillong Lajong Lalrinzuala stepped up to make it 1-0. Luangmual FC doubled their lead through star winger Laldingngheta at 18 minutes.

FC Kulikawn had a chance to pull one back from Lalchhuanawma's freekick but the woodwork denied them the goal. Luangmual FC scored another goal at 29 minutes and this time it was MC Malsawmzuala who make it 3-0. The score remained this way at half time.

At 55 minutes substitute Laldinpuia who came on for Lalramchullova scored the fourth goal for Luangmual FC. Luangmual FC missed quite a few chances until IsaacLalrinngheta’s 82 minute effort was enough for Luangmual FC to win the match by 5-0.

Mizoram Police FC have not found their form yet in the Phase 2 but they have quality enough to break down Dinthar FC in this match. Dinthar FC midfielder maestro KC-a was ruled out due to an injury.

The ground was rather wet as it had been raining before the match and it was slippery as expected and as expected, the match was exciting right from the start. Top scorer R.Laldanmawia was presented a half chance as early as the 3rd minute but keeper Hriata did well to save it. But Dinthar FC eventually scored and took the lead at 12 minutes when Zautea struck a wonderful freekick from the right side with his left foot and the ball went straight into the back of the net.

There seemed to be a misjudgment between the defenders and the goalkeeper which led to the goal. MPL ROUND 11 REVIEW
COURTESY: Michael Lalremtluanga
After the Round 11 of the Mahnindra 2 Wheelers Mizoram Premier League Season 2, the results are interesting and the matches are exciting. All the eight teams have three matches each to play and the result of the remaining matches will eventually decide who would be relegated and who would play the final.

Who will play the final? ------------->> Chanmari FC hammered FC Kulikawn and they need a point each from their remaining matches with Reitlang FC, Aizawl FC and Dinthar FC. They can slip up but Chanmari FC are the firm favorites to reach the final. And the interesting thing is who will be there at the final to face the team that won a maximum 12 points from their last four matches. Dinthar FC won the important Round 11 match against Mizoram Police FC and Ramfangzauva's goal can prove a vital one for this campaign. Luangmual FC's win against Reitlang FC in the Round 11 brought them back on track to play the final this season. Mizoram Police FC fell short and they were beaten by their title rival Dinthar FC but mathematically, the Police have hope of reaching the final too.

Who will be relegated? ------------------>> FC Kulikawnin failed to win any points in the Phase 2 and being hammered by Chanmari FC in the Round 11 can see one of the oldest local clubs FC Kulikawn to relagation from the MPL but a win against Luangmual FC, Mizoram Police FC and Aizawl FC and depending on the negative results of Reitlang FC could see them give a fighting chance through the relegation playoff. And it is a slim chance indeed.

Reitlang FC maintained their fine form to get out from the bottom even though they lost the Round 11match against Luangmual FC. They are yet to face a tough battle with the likes of Chanmari FC and Dinthar FC in their next fixtures. Even if they fail to get any points out of these two matches, a win in their last match against Chanmari West FC will see them avoid the playoff.

Aizawl FC and Chanmari West FC played out a draw in the Round 11 and this result gave the two teams a chance to go through the relegation playoff. The interesting part is when the title contenders face the teams from the relegation zones and a lot can change after the Round 12 too.

Goals in MPL Season 2 -------------------->>> In this season 121 goals have been scored so far with an average of 2.75 goals pergame. In the MPL Season 1, 150 goals were scored with an average of 2.68 goals per game. After the Round 11 of the season 1, 111 goals were scored with an average of 2.52 goals per game. MPL Season 2 have more goals and is undoubted more exciting than last season.

In the second season, we witnessed the success of the MPL Under 17 as Chanmari West FC forward Vanlalbiaa and Chanmari FC forward Jerry Mawihmingthanga began to fulfill their potential. Jerry scored a goal each in three consecutive matches and is yet to score since Round 9 while Mabiaa scored 6 goals with the likes of Mizoram Police winger Lalbiakhlua and Dinthar FC winger R. Laldanmawia. These three players have 6 goals each to their name and all of them are wingers. The strikers do not score enough goals in this season and last season's MPL top scorer Chanmari forward MS Dawngliana had just a goal to his name. MPL best forward F. Lalrinpuia scored a brace in the first match and has so far suffered a goal drought .

Among the top scorers, MPL Season 2 debutants Luangmual FC forward Laldingngheta and Reitlang forward Cho Tsering Lepcha were the prominent ones. In the round 11 when Reitlang FC and Luangmual FC faced each other, Dingngheta came to the fore to score the important goals and even though Cho did not score in this match, he still managed to score 4 goals for the season so far.

20.10.2014: GOODBYE PETER BIAKSANGZUALA

FROM Michael Lalremtluanga :: Picture Courtesy : Ropuia ( MIZORAM)

Bethlehem Vengthlang FC midfielder Peter Biaksangzuala lost his fight for survival after he suffered a fatal injury while celebrating his goal. It has been a sad day for Mizoram football and the demise of the footballer shook his teammates, footballers and fans alike all over Mizoram. Peter's club Bethlehem Vengthlang FC will retire his jersey no. 21.

On Sunday at around 7:00am in Aizawl Civil Hospital, Peter was pronounced dead five days after that fateful night while playing for his team in the Mizoram Premier League. The Club and fans paid their last respect for the lad from Khawzawl at Bethlehem Vengthlang YMA Hall. Then they moved on to Peter's current residence in Aizawl Venglai before they left for his hometown, Khawzawl in the evening.

Peter was a defensive midfielder who had always been aggressive and hard working, a true team player. Like most defensive midfielders, he was excellent at reading the game, breaking up attacks and protecting his defenders. He was not known to score many goals. In the first season of the Mizoram Premier League in 2012/2013, he was the key player for FC Kulikawn and his talents were recognized by that season champions Dinthar FC who he signed for in the second season. Peter played his role in helping his new club reach the 2013 Independence Day Football final. He signed for a Shillong club Nangkiew Irat before he finally joined the new boys of the third and current season of the Mizoram Premier League team Bethlehem Vengthlang FC.

Bethlehem Vengthlang FC started the campaign better than most expected and after four rounds they have six points and third on the table. On October 14, they faced Chanmari West FC and Peter scored his first goal in the league at 62 minutes which was also the equalizer. He was delighted to score an important goal and celebrated his goal by flipping but unfortunately made an awkward land. He was rushed to Aizawl Civil Hospital.

Peter injury and his condition was one of the most talked about news in the social media such as Facebook and Whatsapp. Fans, players and everyone who knew about the incident were deeply moved by his unfortunate accident and prayed for his recovery and survival. A CT Scan was done right after he was taken to the hospital and the result showed that the injury inflicted on the spinal cord was quite serious. The doctors did their best to help him fight for his life.

The residents of Bethlehem Vengthlang supported Peter during that past few dark days. The club officials, his teammates as well as caring fans constantly visited him in the hospital and prayed for him. Many players from Mizoram Premier League clubs, the officials from Mizoram Football Association and many people who care about him and local football were there for Peter till his last breath. Mizoram Football Association hired two buses for the friends, families and closed ones of Peter that had taken them to Khawzawl for the funeral.

Bethlehem Vengthlang coach Danny Lalduhawma said, "Peter was a lad with good manner who always maintained his discipline on and off the pitch. I don't think there are many like him". The words of praise from the coach was chorused and echoed by the players who were lucky enough to play with him and the other coaches who worked with him.

In this life, one is required to make many very worldly decisions. Sometimes we take risks and sometimes we take opinions of experienced people. But the only fact on which you will rely when you decide to donate your eyes to the blind, is a good heart. And Peter had a good heart. He donated his eyes for a suffering blind person and he had that desire to help him or her see the world and lead and enjoy a normal life.

Peter while he was in the hospital bed told Bethlenhem Vengthlang secretary Lalruatfela "Sir, I'll be with God'' and the last entry in his diary was from the Bible -2 Chronicles 16:9 - "For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His."

Peter's father Mr. P. Vanlalchhuana said, "I wanted my son to serve God since the day he was born. His interest in football was undeniable so I allowed him to pursue his career in the sport that he loved. I feel he did a fine job and through football he somehow managed to speak to the heart of the people concerned . He maintained his discipline and stayed away from all the bad habits as far as I'm concerned and he set a good example for sportsmen which is important,". Mr. Vanlalchhuana was thankful to the people who mourned the death of his son. Bethlehem Vengthlang FC President R. Lalthatluanga was also thankful to the officials of Mizoram Football Association, the officials and players of the eight Mizoram Premier League clubs, the residents of Bethlehem Vengthlang and all those people who cared about Peter.

As Peter sleeps, the world can rest in the knowledge that someone out there would be able to see and the football pitch will always be one man down. And heaven has gained a defensive midfielder; apart from the hard tackles and the breaking up of attacks, goal celebrations will never be painful anymore. Goodbye Peter.

SHILLONG PREMIER LEAGUE 2014

Shillong Peremier football League 2014 - kolkatafootball.com

Shillong Lajong Junior Reds Crowned Champions of the Shillong Premier League 2014.

30.11.2014 : SLFC PRESS RELEASE : Shillong Lajong Junior Boys defeated Langsning FC convincingly by 3-0. It was the final test for the young guns to beat the odds of the Shillong Premier League being the youngest team in the league with an average age of 19 years. Lajong boys went into the match with a sour taste of defeat against Langsning fC as they beat the Reds by two goals in their last encounter recently. Undeterred by the loss, the Junior Reds were high on confidence. Their desire to win was evident as right from kick off the Junior Reds were on the front foot.

Their excellent team work was rewarded early in the 16th minute when in form midfielder Rupert Nongrum found the back of the net to give Lajong the lead. The young team did not sit back and continued to press in the opponents half. Three minutes later, Rupert doubled the lead after being awarded a penalty. Despite several attempts to create chances, Langsning did not manage to break the defence and hence Lajong went into the break with a two goal lead.

Lajong Junior Coach Alison would have spoken to his players to keep working hard and focus on winning the match. The Reds started the second half as they did the first. They were not relying on a two goal cushion as they continued to dominate the game looking for a third goal. Langsning did create few chances but were not successful in front of goal. Then in the 67th minute, Jacob who scored the winner in the semi final, took a shoot 30 yards away from goal and his strike proved to be a brilliant one as he put his name in the score sheet giving Lajong Juniors a three goal lead.

Impressively, the young boys stayed calm and composed without any silly mistake to ensure they didn't concede a goal until final whistle was blown. As the referee put up his hands, the whole team was already overwhelmed with excitement. Shillong Lajong Juniors finally did it as they lifted the Shillong Premier League trophy in front of the spectators who came to witness the Future Stars of North East.
