Chanmari FC passed up an opportunity to top the table after failing to overcome a resilient Zo United FC in today's afternoon draw. Both teams looked vibrant as they started the match with Chanmari FC nearly conceding after an error from goalkeeper MS-a. Chanmari FC despite gaining an upper hand on possession, failed to conjure up proper chances, while their opponents looked threatening on the counter-attack.

Zo United looked like the side more likely to make something happen in the first half as Chanmari FC looked out of sorts in attack without the enterprising Fela Zote.The second half saw a much improved Chanmari FC after making two changes at the break. This resulted in more penetration from Chanmari FC with Muanzova looking particularly threatening.

But it was not their day as they were thwarted time and again by the heroics of Zo United FC goalkeeper Lalmama, who was awarded Man of the Match for his efforts.Chanmari moved down to second in the table with 11 points from 5 matches where as Zo United moved up to seventh spot with three points.

The final fixture of MPL5 Round 5 saw Chanmari West FC come out on top against MPL newcomers Ramhlun North FC in a rain soaked battle.Both teams found it dificult to find proper rhythm at the start of the match after some heavy rain had drenched the pitch. But Chanmari West FC gradually gained the upperhand and looked to create something trying to hit their opponents on the break.

They duly got their reward on the 21st minute with fleet-footed winger Danmawia setting up Dampuia to give his side the lead. The second half saw a delay in play because of fog but as play commenced Chanmari West FC looked more comfortable on the ball, although Ramhlun North FC, looking for an equaliser looked threatening at times.

Ramhlun North FC tested Chanmari West FC's goalkeeper Lalmama a couple of times but it was Laldampuia of Chanmari West FC again, who pulled the trigger as he slotted past Ramhlun North FC's custodian with ease to put the result beyond any doubt.Two goal hero Laldampuia was duly chosen as Man of the Match.

Undefeated Bethlehem Vengthlang (BVT) lead the table with 13 points from five games, where as Dinthar FC remained at the bottom with just two points. In what was somewhat a mundane first half display from both sides, chances were few and far to come by with Dinthar FC having the best chance of the half after a mistake from BVT FC's Dinpuia allowed a shot on goal. To add more bad news for Bethlehem Vengthlang FC, Dingngheta and defender Dinpuia were both taken off because of injury.

The second half saw Bethlehem Vengthlang FC come to life displaying more rhythm in their moves with Hruaia and Amoia both coming close to break the deadlock for BVT FC. BVT FC eventually took the lead through Lalmawizuala, who guided home a glancing header from Apuia after Zama Fanai delivered a freekick from the middle of the park. Lalrammuanpuia then sealed the points to become league leaders with a well taken goal 2 minutes into stoppage time. Hmingthanmawia, Bethlehem Vengthlang FC was chosen as the recipient of the Man of the Match Award.

The evening fixture saw struggling champions Aizawl FC finally end their recent slump of consecutive defeats as a late winner salvaged them 3 points.Both teams in desperate need for a win, set out looking for an early goal and duly got their chance. Aizawl FC fail to capitalise on their opportunity but Chhinga Veng FC duly converted theirs as Vanlallawma pounced on a rebound from a Khawpuimawia shot to take the lead on the 4th minute.

Spurned on their fans and their lead, Chhinga Veng continued to be the better team of the half as Aizawl FC struggled to create clear cut opportunities, while Chhinga Veng FC looked threatening on the counter-attack.The second half saw a rejuvenated Aizawl FC picking their opponents backline apart with typical precision. They duly got their equaliser through Lalramchullova on the 78th minute after constant pressure. The defender converting captain Rohminga's delivery.

As the game looked set for a draw, it was substitute Lalnuntluanga who made the difference from the bench, scoring the winner on the 90th minute to give his side a much needed win.Aizawl FC's Lalramchullova was awarded Man of the Match for his important goal and dominating display from the back. Aizawl FC moved upto third spot with six points from four games where as Chhinga Veng FC moved down to fourth with five points.

The third round of the McDowell's No 1 Mizoram Premier League Season was kicked off today with Chanmari West FC facing former champions Dinthar FC in a thrilling encounter.

Both teams desperate for points, started the match in a lively fashion, searching for an early goal. After some end-to-end stuff from both sides Chanmari West FC got their breakthrough from Lalbiakhlua when he headed in Laldanmawia's fine cross to give his side the lead. Looking for an equaliser, Dinthar FC tried in vain to catch their opponents on the break as Chanmari West FC, buoyed by their lead, held firm.

The second half saw Chanmari West FC double their lead after just 5 minutes with the provider of the first goal Laldanmawia now on the receiving end of a Lianzama cross for their second goal. Dominant Chanmari West FC then got another on the 64th minute with Danmawia clinically finishing Dampuia's cross into the box.

A mishap from Dinthar FC's defence saw the best player of MPL1 Danmawia capitalising on an error and grabbed himself a deserved hattrick on the 77th minute to end all hopes for Dinthar FC. Hattrick hero R. Laldanmawia was duly awarded Man of the Match award for his three-goal heroics.

Holders Aizawl FC began their McDowell's No 1 Mizoram Premier League Season 5 campaign today after reaching the semi-finals of the Durand Cup, seeing of opponents Zo United FC with relative ease.

Favorites Aizawl FC took the lead after just three minutes when Bright Middleton Mends was brought down for a foul in the penalty area. Lalramchullova duly converted the resulting spot-kick to give his side an early lead.

Zo United FC, for all their efforts could not seem to take advantage of an Aizawl FC side shorn of match fitness after their Durand Cup campaign. And soon their opponents made them pay the price as Brandon VL Remdika doubled his side's lead with a superb volley from outside the box on the stroke of halftime.

The second half was pretty much a tamed affair with Aizawl FC dominating play and Zo United struggling to create something when they get the ball. Substitute William then sealed three points for Aizawl FC after scoring their third goal on the 82nd minute to ensure his side begin their title defence with a win.

Defender Lalramchullova of Aizawl FC was duly awarded Man of the Match Award for his commanding shift.

Brilliant exhibition of attacking football as Bethlehem Vengthlang rally after falling behind

The third fixture of the second round of MPL5 witnessed a thrilling display of attacking football with Chanmari West FC squaring off against Bethlehem Vengthlang FC with the latter staging a comeback to victory after falling behind.

Bethlehem Vengthlang FC leads the table after Round 2 with 6 points where as Chanmari West FC are yet to open their account after going down twice in their first two matches.

A bright start by both teams saw some brilliant vibrant football from the opening minutes with both teams looking for an early advantage. Chanmari West FC got their break through after 22 minutes when R. Laldampuia scored a beauty to give his side the lead.

Bethlehem Vengthlang FC, determind to reduce their deficit, hassled and harried their opponents and looked to hit on the break. While their opponents, looking for a second goal before halftime did not seem to want to take their foot off the gas.

The second half saw much of the same with both side creating chances in an end-to-end all action stuff. Bethlehem Vengthlang FC got their equaliser on the 58th miunute through Lalhlimpuia's brilliant curler.

With the score level at one a piece, both sides were looking for the kill but in vain. United on the 75th minute Lalhlimpuia produced yet another magnificent strike to gice his side all three points.

The two-goal hero Lalhlimpuia was duly awarded Man of the Match for his two goal-heroics

Former champions Chanmari FC and Dinthar FC met in the first fixture of the second round of the Mcdowell's No.1 Soda Mizoram Premier League and were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw.

The favorites Chanmari FC started the match more brightly and created chances but ultimately failed to convert them. As the two teams battled back and forth, the first breakthrough of the match happened in the dying minutes of the first half. Chanmari FC's Reuben converted a beautiful freekick to give his side the lead at halftime.

The second half saw Chanmari FC again dominating play as Dinthar FC tried in vain to get back level. Dinthar FC reap the rewards of their brilliant counter-attacking strategy as Michael Lalremruata equalised 11 minutes from time. Dinthar FC's Lalhmachhuana was duly awarded Man of the Match award for his rock solid performance.

Independence Day Football finalists Ramhlun North FC are fast building their reputation as giant killers as they see off a valiant Dinthar FC in a 1-0 victory at Mc Dowell's No. 1 Soda Mizoram Premier League Powered by Gionee played at Lammual.

An eventful match up began with Ramhlun FC immediately on the front foot. Zosangliana took a freekick and Lalthlamuana's glancing header at the end of it went in, only to be ruled offside by the officials.

Dinthar FC also had their turn when Michael's header had gone in but was ruled a foul. Video replays show that there was little wrong doing, much to the dismay of the Dinthar FC players.

Ramhlun North FC got their breakthrough on the 27th minute with Zosangliana converting Jerry's fine delivery to give his side the lead. Both teams had their chances on goal with Biaknia coming close for Dinthar FC, while Ramhlun North FC hit the bar courtesy of a Thlamuana strike.

Things gone from bad to worse for Dinthar FC as Ruatpuia got a second booking 14 minutes from time, making a late comeback next to impossible for the former champions. Goalscorer Zosangliana was deservedly took home Man of the Match award.

Afer Round 1 of MPL5, two newly promoted teams Chhinga Veng FC and Ramhlun North FC are at the top of the table with three points each, where as former champions Aizawl FC and Chanmari FC are yet to play their Round 1 match because of Aizawl FC's participation at Durand Cup.

MPL press release : Newcomers Chhinga Veng FC showed they should not be taken lightly as they disposed of Chanmari West FC in clinical fashion.

Chhinga Veng FC, whose performances in the I-Day and MFA Super Cup tournaments have been well below expectations, began the match brightly and dominated proceedings early on against a well-drilled Chanmari West FC side.

Both sides playing off on the counter-attack resulted in an end-to-end action although neither of them could come up with a clear cut chance to score. Chhinga Veng FC eventually took the lead through striker Lalkhawpuimawia on the 29th minute. Chanmari West FC trying to get back into the game, struggled on to find space in their final third.

The second half saw much of the same action with Chhinga Veng FC getting tighter at the back and looking to attack on the break. They duly got their reward on the 68th minute as Lalkhawpuimawia doubled their lead and grabbed himself a brace.

Desperate to find an answer to both goals Chanmari West FC dug deep but could not break down the organised backline of CVFC.

MPL press release : The opening fixture of the 5th edition of the Mizoram Premier League was contested tonight by Zo United FC and Bethlehem Vengthlang FC in a thrilling encounter. In a display of bright attacking football, both sides began vibrant and full of urgency with Zo United FC initially in control of the game. As the game wore on however, Bethlehem Vengthlang FC grew into the game and it was an even battle between two finely matched teams.

The second half saw a different Bethlehem Vengthlang FC as they dominated their opponents in a brilliant display of counter-attacking football. They got their breakthrough on the 69th minute with a header from PC. Zosangliana giving them a much deserved lead - he headed home after Hmingthanmawia's shot hit the crossbar which rebounded on to his way.

For all their efforts Zo United FC could not come up with an answer as BVT FC kept on pushing their opponents on till the final whistle.
