Day 2 of Round 8 saw newcomers Chhinga Veng FC squaring off against champions Aizawl FC in an evenly contested affair. A beautifully struck effort from Ricky Lallawmawma in the 45th minute proved to be the difference between the two sides.
It was evident from the off, that both teams came into the match intent on 3 points. Both sides playing with intensity rather than fluidity. Aizawl FC got a chance through Bright Mends which he struck over the crossbar. For all their hustle, Chhinga Veng FC struggled to find any rhythm in their play to conjure up a clear chance. But on the opposite end, centerback Emma looked assured and dominating for the newcomers.
Chhinga Veng FC finally paid for their error-strewn first half on the brink of halftime as Aizawl FC struck on the counter and Ricky scored from a gem of a long range effort. The newcomers, eager for an equaliser started the second period brightly with captain Joseph and Khawpuimawia combining well only for the latter to see his effort come close.
Aizawl FC found it increasingly hard to cope with a resurgent Chhinga Veng. But in a similar story to the first half, Chhinga Veng struggled to pose a real threat in the final third. Aizawl FC on the other hand, found space on the counter-attack on a couple of occasions with winger Brandon coming close near full-time.

The final fixture of the opening round of phase 2 saw bottom-table strugglers Dinthar FC battle against a Bethlehem Vengthlang FC side with only a solitary loss in Phase 1. Dinthar FC, coming off a huge morale-boosting transfer window saw three out of state players in their starting line-up and it paid dividends.
They dominated from the off and duly got their reward after 9 minutes, when Lalruatpuia finished off a freekick from Mala which Bethlehem Vengthlang FC struggled to clear. About a minute later, Dinthar were at it again as they regained possession, broke forward and striker Michael Lalremruata rounded goalkeeper Mala to grab their second.
The second half saw Bethlehem Vengthlang FC looking to pull one back early on but to no avail, as they were thwarted by a bouyed Dinthar FC time and again. Dinthar FC's Saitea saw his effort fumbled by Bethlehem Vengthlang FC's Mala. But the goalkeeper recovered in time before being punished. The best chance of the second half came from substitute Samuel for Dinthar FC, coming close in the dying minutes. Goalscorer Michael Lalremruata was awarded the Man of the Match for the goalscoring shift he put in.

Chanmari West FC and newcomers Ramhlun North FC kicked off the second phase of MPL5 yesterday in a 5 goal encounter with Chanmari West FC coming out on top thanks to a brilliant effort from Laldampuia. Chanmari West are now on third position with 16 points.
The match itself saw little action early on as both sides look tame in manner coming off from a short break in the season. The match livened when Ramhlun North took an unsuspected lead 10 minutes into the game. Isaac Lalremruata finishing easily after Sawmtea mistruck a well-timed ball from David Tlau.
Chanmari West FC, although dominant in possession struggled to create clear cut chances. But did have opportunities through Muanzuala and Dampuia. They eventually draw level through Muanzuala when the midfielder directed Reuben's cross into the net.
They eventually took the lead seconds before halftime as Lianzama set up Dampuia perfectly to score a brilliant equaliser. The second half saw Chanmari West FC again dominate possession, but it was Ramhlun North again that threatened first as Chhaia's bounced off the woodwork.
Chanmari FC consolidated their lead as Muanzuala took advantage of a confusion between the backline of Ramhlun North FC on the 66th minute. Ramhlun North FC, down but not short on belief, were dealt another blow when goalkeeper Rinpuia had to be taken off after using all their substitutions, resulting in them finishing the game with 10 man. They pulled one back though, when Lalremruata scored in the latter stages of the game to bring respect to the scoreline.

The second fixture of matchday 8 saw former champions Chanmari FC battle with Zo United on a beautiful fall night. The former champions grabbing three points with another brilliant showing from Fela Zote - Chanmari leads the table with 17 points from eight matches.
Chanmari FC got off to a bright start with livewire attacker Fela Zote in amongst the action right away. New signing MS-a also came close early on for Zo United as well. Chanmari FC spurned further chances through Rammawia and Notea in the first half. Their opponents were guilty of profligacy as well with Jesse wasting a glorious opportunity to give his side the lead.
The second half saw Chanmari FC bring on Muanzova and it paid dividends in their attack. Fela Zote broke through on the counter and was brought down in the box. Malsawmfela duly converting the resulting spot kick. Desperate to find an equaliser, Zo United FC pressed on but looked vulnerable on the counter. And Chanmari FC duly hit when they find a break with winger Vanlalbiaa setting up Fela Zote for a brilliant finish.
Zo United pulled one back late in the game when substitute Dinliana Varte set up Isak Vanlalpeka for a simple finish. Chanmari FC midfielder Lalrinchhana was awarded Man of the Match for his industrious performance.

The evening fixture of round 6 of MPL 5 saw a Aizawl FC dominating play against Dinthar FC only to come short and held to settle for a point by a resolute Dinthar FC defence. Defending champions Aizawl FC have not found it easy this campaign after losing consecutive matches before salvaging a win in round 5 only to drop points again against a Dinthar FC side languishing at the bottom of the table.
The match itself was a one-way affair with Aizawl FC dominating proceedings and conjuring up scoring opportunities time and again only to be thwarted by last ditch tackles and wayward finishing. Dinthar FC, on their rare ventures forward could not threaten properly with striker Ruatpuia looking isolated.
Aizawl FC tried to find their winner till the last minute but had to settle for a point after failing to find the back of Dinthar FC's net. Aizawl FC failed to score in three of their last MPL matches. Dinthar FC's defender Lalremtluanga was awarded The Man of the Match.

Round 6 of MPL 5 saw league leaders Bethlehem Vengthlang FC square off against newly-promoted Chhinga Veng FC yesterday with BVT FC needing a second half stoppage time winner to grab three points. BVT remain at the top if the table with 16 points from six matches. Chhinga Veng FC, playing under a new manager with an injury hit squad, fought valiantly and at least deserved a point or more for their efforts and will certainly feel hard-done by the result. Both teams started the game cautiously and looked wary of each other, boith content to play a patient game. It was Chhinga Veng who had then gained the upperhand with Paul Ramfangzauva and Khawpuimawia looking threatening. Chhinga Veng continued to threaten their opponents in the second half as well, with BVT FC looked to hit back on the counter-attack. As the scoreline looked set for a draw, it was sheer grit from BVT FC that earned them 3 points as Lalrammuanpuia found himself on the end of a team move near 2 minutes into stoppage time. Goalscorer Lalrammuanpuia was duly awarded The Man of The Match for his effort.
