SAFF SUZUKI CUP : AFGHANISTAN ARE THE FAVOURITES: CONSTANTINE
PREVIEW : 02.01.2016 : India to face the strong challenge of Afghanistan at the final of the SAFF Suzuki Cup. In fact Afghanistan is rated as one of favorites in the competition. The finalist are yet to face a defeat promises to be an entertaining match on Sunday evening . .
Indian coach Stephen Constantine are of the opinion that the Afghanistan are much more superior than the Indians . In the pre match media meeting at Trivandrum the India coach said "Afghanistan are the favorites because they have 15 Players who play mostly in Europe. There is a huge gap between Asian and European Players.Though we will be playing at home and I hope the fans cheer behind us and we can use it as an advantage . While answering to a question Stephen Constantine opined ,"We will fight form the first to the last minute. If we play at our best and they dont have a good day, we can win."
India will be miss the service of injured Robin Singh.A lot will depend on the combination of Jeje Lalpekluia, and Sunil Chetri in the upfront. As Stephen Constantine said, "Sunil is an important player as is Pritam Kotal, Narayan Das, Arnab Mondal, Augistine Fernandes and all the others including the substitutes. One is useless without the other. If Sunil plays well and others dont, he wont get much of the ball. Sunil is a great Captain and Leader but I never focus on one player".
The coach of Afghanistan Peter Segrt are optimistic regarding his team. In the pre match press meeting the Afghanistan national coach said , "Both Teams are in the Finals of the Tournament to win and it will be a new day for both the teams. The Indian Team is very strong and I have the utmost respect of their Coach, Players and all the staff. We will not take them lightly. If we have to win tomorrow against India, we need to be focused and will have to give our full effort on the pitch ."
Undoubtedly, it will be a hard task for the young Indian contingent on Sunday evening. But the team game of the Indians can do a magic in their favour.
