3rd QIA Champions League - QATAR 2015

FC GOA (QATAR)

Qatar Indian Football Association (QIA) invited to the Goan Community to field a Goan football team in 3rd QIA Champions League - QATAR 2015, where the Football loving Goan Community "FC GOA (Qatar)" is participating.

John Desa Convener - FC GOA (QATAR) told, Tournament is being held from 9th April to 22nd May 2015 at the Doha Stadium in the heart of Doha City. 8 Teams are participating, divided in two groups of 4 teams each. He added that, the Goan Community in Qatar and FC Goa (Qatar) is delighted to have 15 year old Wendell Fonseca an upcoming young Goan Boy as their Striker.

Wendell is born in Qatar to Goan Parents Cedric Fonseca and Winnifred Gonsalves hailing from St. Estevam and Dona Paula respectively. He plays for Qatar Sports Club in the under 16 Qatar League and is under extensive training at Aspire Academy. He has represented Qatar in under 15 tournaments in Turkey and Spain. He is a quiet and hard working boy. We wish him all the best for his future career.

3rd QIA Champions League - QATAR 2015 FC GOA (Q) is scheduled to play as follows

1st Match - Thursday 9th April – 7:30 pm FC GOA (Qatar) 0-1 BIN YOUSEF CARGO

2nd Match - Friday 24thApril - 6:30 pm FC Goa V/s Ali International

3rd Match - Friday 8thMay - 6:30 pm FC Goa V/s Nadam Doha

2 teams from each group qualify for the Semis which will be played at 7pm and 8:30 pm on 15th May 2015 Finals will be played at 7 pm on 22nd May 2015. Most of the players from FC Goa (Qatar) have played in Goa in the past either in Senior, 1st or second division Goan League. Some players are born and raised in Qatar.

14.04.2015: As the 7th match day will come to an end on 16th April, 2015, Second Division League will be shifted to Golaghat, Assam to make the Assamese taste the Indian football. Three stadiums in the likes of Bokakhat Stadium, PTC Stadium Deragaon and Golaghat Stadium will host the 7 rounds of matches (Round 8 to Round 14).

Round 8 will kick off on 21st April, Tuesday and the second division round 14 will conclude on 9th May, Saturday. After 19 days of gruelling football in Assam, one of the eight teams will finish it off to secure a berth in the next edition of I-League.

While Aizawl FC, Chanmari FC were the likely contenders, Lonestar Kashmir FC received accolades from every Indian football connoisseur for their dynamic football so far. Once they hold their nerves till the end, none can dare to write them off. After some lacklustre performances in first couple of matches, Mohammedan SC regrouped well and registered thumping victories against Kenkre and PIFA, having gained much needed confidence to go all out in the next stages.

Kenkre and PIFA have little to take home from SIliguri, but they can start from the scratch while they travel to Golaghat, Assam. An I-League berth is a distant dream for them, but they might dish out some exemplary football as they have nothing to restore but their pride. Tad shade of complacency against these Mumbai teams might be futile for the biggies.

Come 21st April, Kenkre will have a faceoff with Chanmari FC at Bokaghat Stadium while Hindustan FC will get underway with their Golaghat sojourn against PIFA at PTC Stadium, Deragaon. Aizawl FC, the table toppers at the moment will start their second spell against Kolkata-based United SC and Lonestar Kashmir FC will have a late kick-off against Mohammedan SC. Barring the last tie, which is scheduled at 6 PM at Golaghat Stadium, all are due to kick off together at 3 PM in three aforementioned stadiums.
