BRAZIL TO FACE ENGLAND IN A HIGH PROFILE SEMI FINAL AT KOLKATA KFC NEWS DESK - 24.10.17:The first semifinal of the U 17 World cup will be played between the two contenders of the tournament England and Brazil at Vivekananda Yubabharati Kriangan , Kolkata on Wednesday evening. It is a great challenge for FIFA aswell as for LOC to organise such a high profile match within a very short time as the match was forced to shift from Guwahati. The first semifinal was scheduled at Guwahati but due to the bad condition of the pitch at Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Guwahati, FIFA has taken this decision following consultations with both teams in order to safeguard the players’ health and to ensure the best playing conditions. After a win against Germany in the quarter final at Kolkata Brazil is now set to showcase an improvised performance against England in the semifinal and earn a berth for the next phase. The team from the Latin America showed their class in the the previous matches. The Brazilians rely on the team efforts change their strategy as and when required. SEMIFINAL AT KOLKATA SHIFTED FROM GUWAHATI FIFA MEDIA RELEASE- 23.10.17 : Following a thorough assessment of the pitch conditions at Guwahati’s Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, which has been affected by severe rainfall over the past few days, FIFA has decided to move the venue of the semi-final between England and Brazil, due to be played on 25 October 2017, to Kolkata’s Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, where the match will kick off at 17:00. Despite the great efforts by all involved parties, including the authorities of Guwahati, to preserve the pitch, FIFA has taken this decision following consultations with both teams in order to safeguard the players’ health and to ensure the best playing conditions. The second semi-final on that day, between Mali and Spain, will still kick off as planned at 20:00 at the Dr. DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Fans with a valid ticket for the semi-final originally planned to take place in Guwahati will be entitled for a refund .
