JAYDIP DASGUPTA : Mariners to meet the Dempo Sports Club of Goa in a crucial encounter at home tomorrow at YBK from 5.00 PM. It is almost the mid session of the 2013-14 I-League, but neither of these two giants of Indian football has proved their supremacy. Dempo who are the champions of NFL/I league are in the process of rebuilding their team as they have engaged a number of young and talented footballers in the squad. Mohun Bagan on the contrary are depending on the individual brilliance of some footballers especially on Odafa who is yet to be at his peak to showcase the magic.

After a improvised win against the United Sports ,Bagan equalized the deficit against the Mumbai FC in their last match almost at the flag end of the game. Karim is utilizing some of his young footballers along with the experienced campaigners. But what Mohun Bagan is lacking is the consistency of performances which is required to be one of the utmost thing in a tournament like I league.

The cohesion and the connection between the midfield and the striking line up are the major set back which is proved to be negative in Bagan's performances. Mohun Bagan is required to perform as a team rather than the some one's individual sparkling. The injury of the Nigerian goal machine has effected a lot and Odafa has to be back in his pick which will help the Mariners to regain their lost glory. The newly recruited striker Christofer had scored a brace in his first match against United Sports, but he failed to prove impressive against Mumbai in his last match.

Dempo has came to Kolkata without their foreign recruits, held goalless against Mohammedan in the last match. This is basically a young Goan side now and it is the task for Maricio Alfanso to rebuild the team. Except the match against East Bengal at Kalyani, Dempo's performance in the I league are not to the required expectation.

The marshal in the Dempo midfield Beto is nursing his injury. This experienced Brazilian along with Clifford Miranda controls the Dempo midfield and the absence of Beto is a real set back. Beto generally controls the midfield and works as a pivot and at the same time he plays in front of the central defenders to stop opponents attack. Though Dempo has concentrated on team game, but has to develop a lot to regain their supremacy.

Karim and Maricio must have in a target to earn full points which is the prime requirement at this stage of I league in order to climb the ladder.
