The Pune side kicked off things on a high note as they had most of the ball & troubled the Salgaocar defence line. But Eder Fernandes & Leny Pereira did well to deal with the oncoming threats. The Greens didn't take long to get on the front foot as in the 11th minute as Gilbert Oliviera sent a low ball into custodian Subrata Paul's gloves. In the very next minute the home side came close as Calvin Mbarga sent in a well-timed pass to Alesh Sawant who wasn't able to tap it right & sent it out.

The visitors had their first clear shot on goal in the 23rd minute as Baljit sent in a powerful shot which was deflected in time by Jackichand Singh. Being able to maintain the pressure & drew first blood in under 2 minutes via Baljit. The goal came after Zohib Amiri went blazing past Gurjinder Singh on the right flank & sent in the ball for Baljit who did well to tap into the corner of the goal.

It wasn't more than 5 minutes since that Duffy was able to grab the equalizer after Jackichand sent a well-timed pass to the former who blasted it into the back of the net. The Greens had a chance to go ahead when Jackichand sent a lob ball for Duffy ahead of the DSK defense but the striker couldn't capitalise as he took too long to set up his shot allowing Sandesh Jhingan to block his attempt. The rest of the half saw both the team make some fine runs towards each other's posts but it ended the with the 1-1 score line.

The second half resumed with just as much intensity as both sides were looking to get ahead. In the 51st minute Jackichand made a long range attempt which flew just inches above the horizontal. The visitors were successful in mounting the pressure as a penalty was awarded after the referee saw the ball land on Lenny’s hand but the ensuing attempt by Asier Dipanda was saved by a diving Karanjit Singh who was awarded the Hero of the Match. The remainder of the match did not see a lot of action from either side as the score line remained 1-1 until the end. With this Salgaocar FC are now 6th on the table with 13 points in as many games.
