GFA PRESS RELEASE : Goa Football Association to host the South & West leg of the tournament at the Sesa Football Academy. Nike today announced the start of this year's south and west leg of its grassroots football initiative the Manchester United Premier Cup (MUPC) in India.

In its 20th year globally and eighth year in India, Nike's MUPC is all set to witness some of the country's best teams vie for a position to represent the country in the regional finals in Malaysia this June.

Nike's annual MUPC tournament that is held under the aegis of the All India Football Federation will witness 20 best I-league and state teams from across India compete to be crowned MUPC India Champions in Goa on May 09th 2013.

This year the U-15 tournament is held in two stages, the teams from the North and East regions of India battled it out in Jamshedpur while the teams from the West and South zones will compete at the Sesa Football Academy. The first phase of the tournament will kick off on April 29th at Jamshedpur and the second phase on May 3rd in Goa.

Speaking on the occasion, Avinash Pant, Marketing Director, Nike India Pvt. Ltd. said, "Nike MUPC is an effort to provide young footballers in India the opportunity to compete against the best teams in the country and later at a global stage. MUPC is today one of the most anticipated U15 tournament in the country; we thank AIFF for helping us elevate MUPC India to this level. This year being the twentieth edition of MUPC globally, we promise to make this memorable for the teams participating."

Over the years, Nike's MUPC tournament has become a strong platform in India to unearth football talent at the grass root level and to enable young footballers to get an opportunity to represent India at a global stage.

In the twentieth global edition of MUPC, the India edition of the tournament promises an extraordinary level of competition, training and opportunities for young footballers to elevate their game. Nike's Manchester United Premier Cup India leg will provide a rare opportunity for young footballers to play alongside two of the biggest Indian football athletes in an exhibition game in Goa on May 9, 2013.

Bangladesh Women's Football Team to play agaist IFA XI AND 8 TEAMS WOMEN TOURNAMET FROM 25TH MAY.

Bangladesh Women's Football Team, the national team of Bangladesh has 
proposed to play 2-3 friendly matches  against IFA XI. 

The tentative dates and venues of the matches are 

6th May-   Kalyani (3.30pm)
7th May-   Kanchrapara/ Tribeni  (3.30pm)
9th May-   MB/CFC    (3.30pm)

IFA have plans to organize a women's football tournament so that they get
 to play another tournament and  enhance their skill and also so that they 
are able to use the prize money for developmental purpose.

The Syam Sundar Gold Cup will be played from 18th - 25th May (tentative).
 This knock out women's football  tournament will be played by the 
top 8 teams in the Howrah Stadium. 

The Prize Money distribution is as follows.

Royal Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim al-Khalifa of Bahrain has been named Asian Football Confederation's new presidentA

The 47-year-old royal Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim al-Khalifa has been named Asian Football Confederation's new president, replacing Mohamed Bin Hammam. He beat Yousuf Al Serkal of the United Arab Emirates and Thailand's Worawi Makudi. He also get honour as Fifa's executive committee. He is the Bahrain Football Association president (since 2002). Mr. Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim al-Khalifa was the Fifa Disciplinary committee deputy chairman (2003-2009) and also is the Fifa 2014 World Cup committee member.

The ex Bahrain Football Association vice-president (1998-2002) Sheikh Salman takes charges upto the next election in January 2015. Fifa president Sepp Blatter said Asian football still had to work to heal its divisions and rebuild its reputation.

Shaikh Salman has been involved in football for many years dating back to the 1980s when he played in the youth team of Bahrain Division I team, Riffa Club.
