AIFF PRESS RELEASE : A five-member Club Licensing Appeals Body will meet at the Football House, All India Football Federation (AIFF) Headquarters next Wednesday (August 21, 2013) to decide on the exemption pleas of all the 14 License Applicant Clubs for the Football Season 2013-14.

The five-member Committee comprises of Chairman of the Committee Justice N.K. Sud, Former Justice Punjab & Haryana High Court, Mr. Sanjiv Paul Vice-President Corporate Services Tata Steel Ltd., Prof Ratnakar Shetty, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Mr. Vikas Chawla, Vice President - Coca Cola India and Mr. Neel Ratan, Head of Management Consultancy, Pricewaterhouse Coopers Private Limited.

The Committee will take a call on the exemption to be granted to 14 License Applicant Clubs for the upcoming Football Season. Previously, all the fourteen License Applicants failed to clear the first Licensing Test when the five-member Club Licensing Committee - First Instance Body (FIB) - met at the AIFF Headquarters on August 2, 2013.

The 14 Clubs are Dempo SC, Pune FC, Salgaocar SC, Churchill Brothers, East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, Sporting Clube de Goa, Prayag United SC, United Sikkim, Mohammedan Sporting, Mumbai FC, Rangdajied FC, Shillong Lajong FC, and Pailan Arrows. The decision was based on the various documents at the Committee's disposal.

Today the Indian Football Association(IFA) organisd the 33rd edition of "Football Lovers Day" alongwith the Association of the Voluntary Blood Donors West Bengal at the Netaji Indoor Stadium between 9 am and 7 pm. Last year total 795 Fans donated their blood in Kolkata while more 250 Fans donated blood in different camps at Kulpi, Rupnarayanpur (Burdwan district), Purulia, Taki Aryan Club, Siliguri and at Chittaranjan (Burdwan district). A total of 1045 people donated blood last year. What happened in the year 1980 the day of 16th August?

JAYDIP DASGUPTA : The 16th of August 1980, is the tragic day ever in the history of Kolkata football. In a kolkata league matche between the two Giant clubs of Kolkata East Bengal and Mohan Bagan at Eden Gardens, 16 football lovers had to sacrifice their life following an incidence.

The Indian Football Association (west Bengal) along with the Association Of The Voluntary Blood Donors West Bengal observed the day as the football lovers day and organized blood donation camps on the memory of the sacrificed football lovers from 1981 onwards. This will be the 33rd Edition of Blood Donation camp organised by IFA.

In the year 16th August 2013 : 704 Football Fan donated blood at Kolkata while 504 donated in various Districts and Sub division of Bengal.

The 16 ill fated Fans who died on 16th August 1980 When the referee Sudhin Chatterjee showed the red card to Dilip Palit and Bidesh Basu for a foul which occured a ballttle field in the gallery. Till this day it remains the darkest day in Indian football.

SAFF Cup Nepal 2013: Espn may telecast the matches..

...The 2013 South Asian Football Federation Championship will be the tenth edition of the SAFF Championship, the football championship of South Asia. It will be held in Nepal, a decision the SAFF Executive Committee took at a meeting held at Sri Lanka in September 2012.[2] It will be the second time Nepal are hosting the tournament, the latest being in 1997.

It has been learnt that ESPN has bought the rights to telecast SAFF Championship 2013 matches live in India. The SAFF Cup 2013 kicks off on 31st August with an encounter scheduled between Nepal and Bangladesh at 6:15 pm IST. The matches will be played in the Dasarath Rangshala Stadium and the Armed Forces ground.

India will play their first match against Pakistan on the 1st of September.
