Chennaiyin FC appoints Tony Warner as goalkeeping coach PART- 77 (ISL) 15.01.2017 : Chennai, October 14 2017 – Chennaiyin FC is delighted to announce the signing of 43-year-old Tony Warner as their goalkeeping coach for the 2017-18 campaign of the Hero Indian Super League. Warner joins head coach John Gregory’s coaching staff which already includes assistant coaches Mark Lillis and Syed Sabir Pasha and sports scientist Niall Clark.

The former goalkeeper had a playing career spanning more than two decades with the majority of it having spent in English football. He has had spells at Liverpol, Hull City and Fulham and played over 200 league games for Millwall, having also reached the FA Cup final with them in 2004.He also represented Trinidad and Tobago at international level.

Outside England, he also had stints with New Zealand’s Wellington Phoenix in Australia’s A-League and Floriana FC in Malta. As a goalkeeping coach he has worked at Bolton Wanderers in the past.

“I am delighted to have joined Chennaiyin’s coaching staff and grateful to the club and John Gregory for giving me this opportunity. I have already enjoyed working with the keepers here and look forward to help them develop and have a great season ahead,” Warner said from Chennaiyin’s pre-season training base in Hua Hin, Thailand.

Minerva Punjab FC sign Senegalese Attacking Midfielder Kassim Aidara for the upcoming season PART- 76 (I-League) 02.10.2017: MPFC PRESS RELEASE : Northern powerhouse Minerva Punjab FC complete the signing of German born Senegalese Attacking Midfielder Kassim Aidara for the upcoming Hero I-League season 2017-18. 30 year old Kassim Aidara who was born In Germany holds dual citizenship of France and Senegal. The Attacking Midfielder who will marshall the Pide of Punjab's midfield honed his skills at Germany's Jenfelder SV, SC Concordia von 1907 and France's Ligue 2 regulars Paris FC in his initial days.

He was soon roped in by New Zealand's Wellington United AFC nicknamed The Diamonds, which competes in The Capital Premier League. after a successful spell at the Island nation he moved back home to Germany's Niendorfer TSV which played in Hamburger Oberliga. The following season he signed for Hamburg based USC Paloma playing in the same league. He later moved on to Lüneburger SK Hansa in Northern Germany to play in the Regionalliga Nord.

His rocksolid performance soon earned him a call from Estonian Esiliiga club JK Tallinna Kalev where he spent a season but his stay was cut short by City Top flight team JK Sillamäe Kalev and FCI Tallinn who signed him for country's top flight Meistriliiga for the following two seperate seasons. However he returned back to JK Sillamäe Kalev for the 2017 season after which he was North India's I-League Club Minerva Punjab FC came knocking.

It would indeed be a treat to watch the midfield duo of Kassim Aidara and former Middlesbrough FC's U-23 midfield sensation William Opoko in the upcoming season of the Hero I-League.

If rumours are to be believed Hero I-League is set to begin from the first week of November, Northern heavyweights who are the only representative of the region in the top flight of India Football are on a signing spreen as they boost their defensive backlinet with 28 year old Côte d'Ivoire defender Guy Eric Dano for the upcoming season. Guy Eric Dano joins from Ligue 1 (Top Division of the Fédération Ivoirienne de Football) team Jeunesse Club d'Abidjan who boost the likes of former Côte d'Ivoire Goalkeeper Vincent Angban and Guinea National Team striker Demba Camara.

Previously the team from Punjab announced the signing of Japanese midfielder Toshiya Hosoe from Maldivian Premier League Champions Maziya SC, Belarusian attacker Dzmitry Kowb from Meistriliiga (Estonia Top League) team JK Narva Trans FC, and 20 year old Ghana Junior National Team & Middlesbourgh FC's U23 midfield sensation William Opoku Asiedu.
