MATCH REPORT - ISL : NorthEast United sealed their playoff berth following their 2-0 win over Kerala Blasters FC in the Hero Indian Super League at the Tilak Maidan, on Friday. Having extended their unbeaten run to nine games, Coach Khalid Jamil also created history by becoming the first Indian manager to have managed three or more league games and still steered his team to the playoffs.

Needing just a point to qualify for their second-ever playoffs, the Highlanders showed no signs of stopping as they attacked from the first whistle. They gained an advantage in the first session through goals from Suhair Vadakkepeedika (34’) and Lalengmawia (45’). Coach Khalid Jamil fielded an unchanged XI from their previous game while Kerala Blasters had just one change with Sandeep Singh preferred over Subha Ghosh.

The Highlanders fashioned a great opportunity soon after the start. Luis Machado sent in a delivery into the box, which was headed out straight back to him. His cross from the right found Dylan Fox but he shot wide. At the other end, it was Kerala who missed getting ahead in the game. Bakary Kone managed to evade his marker and to get to the end of a Jessel Carneiro corner, but his header missed the target.

Though NorthEast were clearly the better side in the first session, KBFC did have their chances. But the Highlanders’ defense stood strong. Then, in the 34th minute, NorthEast took the lead. Khassa Camara slipped in a through ball which Kone failed to deal with. Suhair Vadakkepeedika got on to the ball and got past Sandeep Singh, before rounding off an advancing Albino Gomes, to put his side ahead.

Jamil's men increased their lead just before the breather through an astonishing Lalengmawia strike. Fox set up Lalengmawia, whose well-struck long-ranger bounced off the underside of the bar into the net. Jamil’s ecstatic look at the touchline showed just how good the goal was.

KBFC had a better start to the second session. They created chances through Rahul KP and Gary Hooper, but a finish eluded them. At the other end, Gomes was forced into a fine save when Machado showed his brilliance and on entering the box, tried his luck at goal. Then Deshorn Brown, missed a great opportunity, striking the crossbar.

Despite their chances, NEUFC just couldn’t get their third. Their best chance came when Federico Gallego played a weighted pass to Brown, who managed to evade Gomes. However, his shot from a tight angle found the side netting.

MATCH DETAILS : Kerala Blasters spoiled Chennaiyin FC’s desires of finishing the season on a high after holding them to a thrilling 1-1 draw in the Hero Indian Super League at GMC Stadium, Bambolim, on Sunday. Fatkhulo Fatkhulloev gave Chennaiyin a lead in the 10th minute which was cancelled out by Gary Hooper’s 29th-minute goal from the spot. Csaba Laszlo’s side finished the season with 20 points from 20 games.

 21/02/2021 (ISL : MATCH-102) : KERALA BLASTERS <b><font color=red> 1-1 </b></font> CHENNAIYIN FC

Chennaiyin got off to an electrifying start and created numerous chances in the opening minutes of the match. Anirudh Thapa fired a shot in the first minute forcing Kerala keeper Albino Gomes into an early save.

After nearly creating half-a dozen chances, the Marina Machans were successful in breaking the deadlock. Bakary Kone’s header fell to Edwin Vanspaul, who played it over the left flank to find Fatkhulloev. The forward cut inside before unleashing a powerful strike that beat Gomes.

Chennaiyin almost scored their second but Enes Sipovic saw his header hit the crossbar. Kerala gained momentum in the second quarter and during this period, they pressed their opponents high, putting them pressure. After sustaining a good spell in Chennaiyin territory, Kerala earned a penalty when Deepak Tangri was the culprit of handling the ball in the area. Hooper ensured he converted the spot-kick to get his team of level terms.

Hooper nearly put his team ahead before the break. Lalruatthara diverted Jeakson Singh's lobbed pass into the path of Hooper at the edge of the box. However, his chip shot sailed over the crossbar. The second half saw more balanced play as both teams had identical possession and passes. They matched each other with a much relaxed game plan. Though there were chances being created, it was Vishal Kaith coming with a crucial save to keep the scoreline level.

Hooper’s cross at the farpost found Jordan Murray whose header was parried away by Kaith. Chennaiyin were reduced to 10 men after Sipovic got his marching orders. Prasanth Karuthadathkuni swiveled away from Sipovic. The defender unwittingly stamped Prasanth's foot and the referee deemed that to be bad enough for a second yellow.

Having numerical advantage, Kerala kept searching for the match-winner. Jessel Carneiro struck a goal-bound shot from a distance, but Kaith’s brilliance denied the ball from entering the goal. Chennaiyin defended well in the final few minutes of the game to end their season with a draw.

MATCH DETAILS - ISL : They knew they were being watched by their closest playoff rivals, NorthEast United and FC Goa. They needed a statement of intent to make their top-four ambitions clear. And Hyderabad FC did just that as they outclassed Kerala Blasters 4-0 in the Hero Indian Super League at the Tilak Maidan Stadium on Tuesday.

A brace from Fran Sandaza (58, 63’) and goals from Aridane Santana (86’) and Joao Victor (90’) helped Hyderabad climb to third on the table. The result meant Kerala Blasters are now mathematically out of the playoff race.

16/02/2021 (ISL:MATCH-96) : HYDERABAD FC - <b><font color=red> 4-0 </b></font> - KERALA BLASTERS

Kerala were on top for the majority of the opening half, registering four shots on target compared to Hyderabad’s zero. Hyderabad looked livelier towards the end of the first half but it only showed when Joel Chianese shifted from the flanks towards the middle. However, inefficiency in the final third from both sides meant that the scoreline remained goalless at the break.

A howler from Kerala keeper Albino Gomes in the 21st minute almost gifted Hyderabad the opener. He made a mess while attempting to clear a long ball before Costa Nhamoinesu cleared it out of danger. Seconds later, another big chance went begging for the Nizams. Victor whipped a teasing cross in the box for Santana, who blazed his header over the bar.

While Hyderabad eventually grew in the game, a defensive mistake from them in the 39th minute almost handed Kerala the opening goal. Prasanth Karuthadathkuni pounced on a miscued backward pass by Akash Mishra before firing a shot that went straight to Hyderabad custodian Laxmikant Kattimani.

Throughout this season, Hyderabad have always come out stronger in the second half, scoring more goals after the break. And they did that again. Hyderabad broke the deadlock when Sandaza stabbed home from close range after a miscommunication between Bakary Kone and Costa. Four minutes later, another blunder from Gomes saw Hyderabad double their advantage. Chianese latched on to a poor back pass from Kone before being clipped by Gomes inside the box. Sandaza converted the penalty with a calm panenka finish.

Hyderabad continued to pile on the pressure and their efforts would be rewarded soon. Santana joined the party late on after heading in Lluis Sastre’s freekick, yet another set-piece goal for the Nizams. In injury time, Santana turned creator, flicking the ball on from a cross towards Victor, who scored a simple tap-in.

MATCH REPORT-ISL : Kerala Blasters FC once again squandered a winning position, playing out a third successive draw after being held 2-2 by Odisha FC in the Hero Indian Super League at the Fatorda Stadium on Thursday. Odisha's Diego Mauricio (45', 74') netted a brace while Jordan Murray (52) and Gary Hooper (68') were on the scoresheet for Kerala.

11/02/2021 (ISL : Match 90) : ODISHA FC - <b><font color=red> 2-2 </b></font> - KERALA BLASTERS

Kerala desperately needed a win to revive their playoff hopes but couldn't find a way past Odisha, a side they are yet to beat. The result meant ninth-placed Kerala are now level on points with SC East Bengal, who have a game in hand. Odisha headed into the break with their noses in front after punishing Kerala for a defensive error. Kerala started bright and saw more of the ball in the opening half but failed to create clear-cut chances.

After dominating possession in the first quarter, Kerala missed a gilt-edged opportunity to grab the lead in the 31st minute. Sahal Abdul Samad intercepted Steven Taylor's misplaced pass and found Gary Hooper in the box. The Australian beat Jacob Tratt with his first touch but his shot missed the frame by inches.

Minutes later, Kerala failed to capitalize on another defensive mistake from Odisha. Arshdeep Singh was at fault this time as he played the ball to Hooper right outside the box. The Australian squared the ball towards Juande whose first-time shot sailed over the bar.

Those missed chances would cost Kerala as Odisha scored against the run of play. Jerry Mawihmingthanga's lob found Mauricio in the box, and he held off two markers before finding the back of the net.Kerala came out strong after the break and it didn't take them long to find the equaliser. Hooper saw off Tratt and skipped past Arshdeep, before squaring the ball for Murray, who got ahead of Sajid Dhot and blasted his shot into the net.

Kerala's intent in the second half would bear fruit as they would take the lead for the first time in the game.Vicente Gomez played a long ball to Sahal, who controlled the ball and picked out Murray with a reverse pass. The Englishman kept his calm and slotted past Arshdeep with ease.

But just when it seemed like Kerala were on the up, they would end up conceding again. Bradden Inman whipped a cross at the far post for Mauricio who scored a simple tap-in to draw Odisha level. Both sides went all out in the dying stages in hopes of finding the winner. However, the goalkeepers of both teams came up with some stunning saves to keep the scoreline level.

MATCH DETAILS - ISL : Kerala Blasters squandered a lead once again as Mumbai City FC came from behind to win 2-1 in the Hero Indian Super League at the GMC Stadium, Bambolim, on Wednesday. After missing many chances, Adam Le Fondre’s 67th-minute penalty proved decisive after Bipin Singh (46') had earlier canceled out Vicente Gomez first-half goal (27').

Kerala made three changes as Bakary Kone, Prasanth Karuthadathkuni and Yondrembem Denechendra found places in starting XI, while for Sergio Lobera’s Mumbai, Adam Le Fondre, Vignesh Dakshinamurthy, and Cy Goddard were given a start. The half-time talk from Lobera seemed to have worked on his squad as the Islanders got back into the game soon after the restart.

Le Fondre set Goddard on the right as the latter evaded a tackle from opponents and attempted a shot. However, it took a deflection and went towards Bipin at the far post, who found the back of the net from a tight angle.Kerala kept pressing but Amrinder stood strong. The keeper continued to frustrate their opponents as he denied Murray and Rahul once again.

At the other end, Mumbai were awarded a penalty when Le Fondre was fouled in the box by Costa Nhamoinesu. This time, Le Fondre didn’t make a mistake as he smashed the ball past Albino. Mumbai managed to maintain their one-goal lead till the final whistle to extend their lead at the top.

MATCH DETAILS - ISL : Kerala Blasters were made to rue their missed chances as they played out a goalless draw with Jamshedpur FC in the Hero Indian Super League at the GMC Stadium, Bambolim on Wednesday. Kerala were, by far, the superior team overall and created more chances than Jamshedpur but lacked the cutting edge in the final third, which denied them their fourth win of the season.

27/01/21 (ISL: M-73)</b> : KERALA BLASTERS - <b><font color=red> 0-0 </b></font> - JAMSHEDPUR FC

The first half proved to be a pulsating affair but attackers of both sides were guilty of missing chances. Jamshedpur dominated the opening quarter and had the opportunity to take the lead early on, following a blunder from Kerala keeper Albino Gomes. He miscued a clearance, gifting the ball straight to Nerijus Valskis. The striker popped a shot at goal but Albino recovered well in time by managing a finger-tip save, which kissed the far-post before going out.

Valskis missed another gilt-edged chance in the 30th minute after some lovely build-up play from Jamshedpur. Aitor Monroy found the Lithuanian in the box with a delightful lob but Valskis fluffed his chance as he attempted an acrobatic volley. Kerala dominated the second quarter and fashioned three big chances, only to be denied by the woodwork on all occasions.

The first was when Gary Hooper unleashed a long-range shot that struck the underside of the crossbar before bouncing back into play. However, replays suggested that the ball crossed the line but it went unnoticed by the officials. Minutes later, Sandeep Singh whipped a teasing cross for Jordan Murray whose header brushed the upside of the frame.

And then, Lalthathanga Khawlhring rattled the crossbar again from close range in injury time, leaving Kerala assistant coach Ishfaq Ahmed frustrated on the touchline. After the restart, Kerala carried on from where they left off as they dominated the second half.

They had an opportunity to bag the opener after the hour mark when Khawlhring created space on the right and delivered a cross towards Murray at the far-post. The Australian’s looped header, however, flew inches wide of goal. Kerala threw the kitchen sink at their opponents as the game entered its final stages. They created chance after chance but lacked the finishing touch, and were forced to share points with Jamshedpur at the full-time whistle.

MATCH REPORT - ISL : 10-men FC Goa managed to fend off a tough press by Kerala Blasters to settle for a point with a 1-1 draw in the Hero Indian Super League at GMC Stadium, Bambolim, on Saturday.

The Gaurs took the lead through a 25th-minute strike from Jorge Ortiz Mendoza while Rahul KP (57’) scored with a brilliant header in the second half. Goa were reduced to 10 men in the second half after Ivan Gonzalez received marching orders, receiving two yellow cards within a span of seconds.

The Gaurs deservingly took the lead in the 25th minute from a set-piece. Ortiz’s freekick from the left took a slight deflection off Sahal Abdul Samad’s head and looped over Gomes.

Kerala had their goal disallowed just before the breather. Facundo Pereyra chipped in a cross from a corner, which fell to Bakary Kone who used his thigh first, and then his arm to find the back of the net. However, the referee ruled out Kone’s goal for handball after consulting the linesman.

In the second half, Kerala restored parity through Rahul. Pereyra delivered yet another beautiful cross through a corner. Rahul timed his run to perfection at the far post and headed the ball past Goa keeper Naveen Kumar.

As Kerala gained momentum, Gaurs suddenly found themselves on the backfoot. Gonzalez received a quick double booking to reduce Goa to 10 men. Gonzalez was initially cautioned for his tackle on Gary Hooper. Then the referee flashed the second yellow after Gonzalez touched him while protesting.

Goa were forced to defend in the final quarter of the game as Kerala tried to take advantage of the extra man. However, their poor decision making in the final third saw them squandering a couple of chances and the game ended all square.

REPORT - ISL : A late injury-time goal from Rahul KP handed Kerala Blasters a dramatic comeback 2-1 win over heated rivals Bengaluru FC in the Hero Indian Super League at the GMC Stadium on Wednesday.

20/01/21 : ( ISL: M-65): KERALA BLASTERS <b><font color=red> 2-1 </b></font> BENGALURU FC

An acrobatic first-half effort from Cleiton Silva (24') handed Bengaluru the lead before substitute Lalthathanga Khawlhring netted an equaliser (73'). The game looked to be heading for a draw before Rahul scored a brilliant individual effort in injury time.

Despite starting the game better, Kibu Vicuna's men lacked the final ball and was promptly punished by a Bengaluru goal that came arguably against the run of play. After threatening in the opening exchanges, Kerala had their first clear-cut chance in the 18th minute when Jordan Murray's shot from inside the box went over the bar. Minutes later, Sahal Abdul Samad's threatening run into the box came to nothing.

Bengaluru promptly punished them for not making the most of their opportunities. Rahul Bheke's long throw from the right was not properly dealt with by the Kerala defence and it fell to Cleiton, whose acrobatic volley gave Kerala keeper Albino Gomes no chance.Bengaluru had a chance to double the lead at the stroke of halftime when Costa Nhamoinesu fouled Sunil Chhetri just outside the box. The resulting free-kick was taken by Chhetri and looked to be going in, but Albino pulled off a terrific save

As was the case with the first half, it was Kerala who started the second period brighter. And similar to the first period, their failure to find that final pass meant that for all their bluster, they had nothing to show for it. Their first chance came soon after the restart with Juanan brought down Lalthathanga just outside the box. Lalthathanga took the free-kick himself but only succeeded in smashing it straight into the wall.

However, he made amends for it, albeit in contentious circumstances. Bengaluru keeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu went down after using his body to block a powerful Gary Hooper shot from close range. With Gurpreet still on the ground, Sandeep Singh fired the ball back into the box. After a melee, the ball finally broke free for Lalthathanga, who netted the equaliser.

Both teams pressed hard for the winner, getting freekicks from threatening positions that eventually came to nothing. Bengaluru came close to scoring, with substitute Leon Augustin finding himself clean through on goal in injury time. However, he failed to get the ball past the onrushing Albino.

There was still time for a late winner, though. After Bengaluru struck the post, a rapid counter-attack from the men in yellow saw Rahul sprint into the Bengaluru half. Instead of trying to find a teammate, he took the shot himself and succeeded in beating Gurpreet for a dramatic winner.

OUR IDEA IS TO GET THREE POINTS IN EVERY MATCH: HABAS

20.1.21: After wasting points against Mumbai City FC and FC Goa, the second placed team in the league ATK Mohun Bagan will play against Chennaiyin FC in a 12th round encounter . The first round match on 29th December ended in a goal less draw.

In the virtual press conference just before the match the Spanaish coach of ATK Mohun Bagan, Antonio Habas said,"There is no added pressure. In championships, you have good moments and sometimes bad. We have played the last two games against the top two teams – FC Goa and Mumbai City FC who are capable of winning the league. We are in the top half of the table. Maybe we need to improve. We have to continue our work. Our idea is to get three points in every match. After that we can think about the playoffs."

The Mariners has created the least number of chances (81) this season and has attempted just 35 shots on target. They have also scored just 11 — the joint-second-lowest in the league. While discussing, Habas said, "We need to find the right balance between attack and defence. I wouldn’t prefer scoring and conceding 25 goals. That’s not good for me."

The match will kick off at Fatorda stadium at 7.30PM.

MATCH REPORT - ISL : Ten-men Kerala Blasters put up an inspired show to register their second win of the season as they brushed aside Jamshedpur FC 3-2 at the Tilak Maidan Stadium, Vasco on Sunday.

Kerala took the lead early through Costa Nhamoinesu (22') but his opener was neutralised by Nerijus Valskis (36') before the break. The Jamshedpur striker netted once again in the second half (84') but it only came after Jordan Murray's brace (79', 82') which propelled Kerala to seal the game.

10.01.21 ( ISL : M-54) : JAMSHEDPUR FC - <b> <font color=red> 2-3 /b></font> - KERALA BLASTERS

Both sides went into the break locked in a stalemate, after testing each other and creating a flurry of chances in the first half. Jamshedpur started strong and should have bagged the lead as early as the 4th minute after some delightful build-up play. Valskis did well to hold the ball and found Mobashir Rahman, whose cross found Jadhav. But the youngster's effort deflected off the post.

Seven minutes later, Kerala fashioned a gilt-edged opportunity which was the best chance of the opening half. Gary Hooper put Murray through on goal with a decisive pass that split open the Jamshedpur backline. But with only the keeper to beat, the Australian skewed his shot over the bar.

However, Kerala soon made amends for the early miss as they broke the deadlock from a set-piece. Facundo Pereyra swung a delicious cross in the box for Costa, who got ahead of Jamshedpur keeper TP Rehenesh and headed home.

Jamshedpur rallied back soon after conceding and would go on to restore parity from a set-piece after Lalruatthara fouled Alexandre Lima in a dangerous area outside the box. Valskis curled his free-kick over the wall and into the top bottom corner past Kerala custodian Albino Gomes, ending his three-match goalless streak.

Jamshedpur dominated proceedings after the restart, making constant raids into the opposition box but couldn't find a way. The best chances fell for Jackichand Singh, who struck the woodwork twice. Kerala were reduced to ten men just after the hour mark after Lalruatthara was shown a second yellow card for a rash tackle.

But despite being a man down, two defensive errors from Jamshedpur helped Kerala gain an advantage. They took the lead from a set-piece. After Jessel Carneiro's throw-in was cleared away poorly by Stephen Eze, Pereyra won the ball and tested Rehnesh from close range. The ball fell to Murray on the rebound and he scored a tap-in. A decisive blunder from Rehenesh three minutes later allowed Murray to score again, seeing the shoulders drop in the Jamshedpur dugout.

Valskis got on the scoresheet again to revive Jamshedpur's hopes of a comeback. The striker buried his header into the net from Mobashir's cross to cut short his side's deficit. But in the end, his goal came a little too late as Kerala went home with the three points.

MATCH REPORT - ISL : Odisha FC got the monkey off their back as they cruised to their first win of the season with a 4-2 victory over Kerala Blasters in the Hero Indian Super League at the GMC Stadium, here on Thursday.

07/01/21 : (ISL : M-50) : KERALA BLASTERS -- <b><font color=red> 2-4 </b></font> - ODISHA FC

Kerala drew first blood through Jordan Murray (7') but Odisha took the lead in the first half itself through an own goal from Jeakson Singh (22') and a strike from Steven Taylor (42'). Diego Mauricio's second-half brace (50', 60') then settled the tie in favor of Odisha. Gary Hooper (79') scored a consolation for Kerala, but it proved to be not enough to spark a comeback.

It was Odisha who started better, enforcing a corner in the third minute but Kerala scored the opener much against the run of play. KP Rahul headed Facundo Pereyra's freekick at goal and a diving Arshdeep Singh could only parry it straight into Murray's path. The latter made no mistake from a tight angle.

Odisha struck back 15 minutes later in somewhat fortuitous fashion. Jerry Mawihmingthanga found Mauricio on the right and his shot took a heavy deflection off Jeakson before trickling past a wrong-footed Albino Gomes.

Vicente Gomez almost came up with an instant equaliser as he headed in Pereyra's cross, but it was straight at Arshdeep. Kerala would rue the misses soon with Taylor taking advantage of some poor defending to give Odisha the lead just before halftime. Jerry's cross found Taylor unmarked at the far post and the English defender calmly slotted in.

Jerry missed a good chance straight after the restart, but Mauricio would soon ensure that his miss went unpunished. First, he scored Odisha's third after Jerry's lob found him clear on goal. Ten minutes later, he scored a spectacular goal to put the result beyond doubt. The Brazilian received the ball from Nandhakumar Sekhar and beat a defender before curling it past the keeper from outside the box.

Kerala would have a glimmer of hope in the 79th minute when Gary Hooper netted their second. Jordan Murray did well to put the ball in the box and found Hooper, who slashed at goal. His shot took a deflection off Taylor before going in.

The goal inspired the previously-downbeat Kerala players as they launched assault after assault on the Odisha goal. However, the Odisha defence stood firm as their coach Stuart Baxter celebrated his first win of the season at the final whistle.

MATCH DETAIL- ISL : Mumbai City FC reclaimed the top spot in the Hero Indian Super League following a 2-0 win over Kerala Blasters FC at the GMC Stadium, on Saturday. First-half goals from Adam Le Fondre (3’ P) and Hugo Boumous (11’) ensured full points for the Islanders who are now unbeaten in their last seven games.

02/01/2021 : (ISL : M-44) : MUMBAI CITY FC -- <b><font color=red> 2-0 </b></font> -- KERALA BLASTERS

Both teams made a couple of changes to their line-ups, Boumous and Mandar Rao Dessai returned to Sergio Lobera’s starting XI while for Kerala, Costa Nhamoinesu and Lalthathanga Khawlhring were named ahead of Abdul Hakku and Rahul KP.

Mumbai punished Kerala for an early error which gifted them the first goal in the third minute. Boumous latched on to a Vicente Gomez back-pass and the Frenchman was brought down in the box by Nhamoinesu and won a penalty. Le Fondre netted his sixth goal of the campaign despite Albino Gomes getting a leg to the ball.

Mumbai doubled their lead in the 11th minute and this time, Boumous got his name on the scoresheet. Ahmed Jahouh sprayed a long ball from his own half towards Boumous from a free-kick, and the Frenchman made it look easy as he got past his marker and slotted past Albino.

Kerala took time to get into the game and had a couple of tries at the rival goal forcing Amrinder Singh into action. Amrinder first denied Gomez with a diving save and later stopped Sahal Abdul Samad’s effort. Sahal should have passed the ball to Facundo Pereyra, who was in a better position to score.

Kerala created chances and showed their desire to get back in the game but the Mumbai defenders were an equal match to their opponents. Mumbai were guilty of squandering yet another chance just before the break. Boumous cut the ball back to Le Fondre, but his chip sailed over the bar.

Kerala put up an improved performance in the second half. They created chances early and nearly pulled a goal back in the 55th minute but Jordan Murray's effort was ruled offside. With less than 20 minutes on the clock, Mumbai had the chance to further extend their lead when they were awarded yet another penalty after Boumous was fouled in the box. But this time, Albino read it right and his strong right arm denied Boumous.

At the other end, Amrinder came up with a brilliant save when he parried Gomez's long-range shot which brushed off the crossbar. The keeper did exceptionally well to help his side maintain their fifth clean sheet of the season.

Abdul Hakku's header (29') put Kerala ahead in the first half before Jordan Murray (88') sealed three points for Kibu Vicuna's side.

Hyderabad created a few half-chances with Aridane Santana failing to take them. Both sides fought neck-and-neck but Kerala grabbed the opener just before the half-hour mark through a set-piece. They won a corner and Facundo Pereyra whipped an inch-perfect cross for Hakku, who bagged his first ISL goal through a pin-point header.

Hyderabad threw the kitchen sink in the dying minutes but just like the first half, failed to convert their chances. The best opportunity fell to Halicharan Narzary in the 80th minute, but he miscued his shot. Receiving the ball on the left, the winger cut inside looking to find the far corner but saw his effort sail over the bar.

Kerala started on a bright note and had a chance to break the deadlock early on when an error from Asish Rai got Hyderabad in trouble. Sahal pounced on Rai’s poor touch and squared the ball but Odei Onaindia thwarted the danger with a vital tackle.

However, their hopes of making any comeback were swept away when Murray put the game to bed late on. Substitute Adil Khan failed to deal with a cross in the box and it fell to Murray, who made no mistake and placed his shot in the bottom corner.

WE WILL START AGAINST KERALA BLASTERS WITH A FRESH MINDSET: FOWLER

19.12.20: SC East Bengal and Kerala Blasters FC will will clash in an important encounter in Hero Indian Super League at the GMC Stadium, Bambolim. Both the teams are struggling and are yet to register a win in the competition even after five matches.

The statistics shows that both teams have conceded 10 goals in their five matches. Eight of the ten goals that both sides have conceded have come after the break, highlighting their second-half struggles.

The Head coach of SC East Bengal are desperate for a win against Kerala Blasters FC with a fresh mindset. pre-match Press conference, SC East Bengal Head Coach Robbie Fowler said, "We all need to play better against Kerala Blasters FC and our concentration levels need to be higher. It doesn’t really matter what formation you’re playing with because it can change if a player moves ten yards. We’ve shown that we can compete. Maybe the results didn’t go our way, but we always go out there, believing that we can win."

SC East Bengal won against Kerala Blasters in the pre season friendly by a margin of 3-1, though it will be a match on Sunday evening. As Robbie Fowler said, "Yes, we had a good result against them, but it means nothing in the grand scheme of things. It’s a fresh game for both sides and we both want to win—it’s as simple as that. What happened in the past is irrelevant now. We still have to play well on the day. The players have to recover a little bit better; they need to work hard for each other. We have to work well with the ball and also without it. We’ll go into the game with a fresh mindset."

ISL REPORT : Bengaluru FC walked away with three points after a 4-2 win over Kerala Blasters in the Hero Indian Super League Season 7 at the Fatorda Stadium, Goa, on Sunday. The teams were tied 1-1 at the break with Rahul KP (17’) giving Kerala Blasters a surprise lead which was canceled out by Cleiton Silva (29’).

13/12/2020 (ISL: M-27) BENGALURU FC -- <b><font color=red> 4-2</b></font> --- KERALA BLASTERS FC

The second half saw four goals being scored in the span of 14 minutes. Erik Paartalu (51’) and Dimas Delgado (53’) scored in quick succession to give Bengaluru FC breathing space but Jordan Murray (61’) gave some hope to the away team. Sunil Chhetri (65’) put the game to rest with a fine header.

Bengaluru started sharper than their previous displays with Sunil Chhetri and Kristian Opseth showing confidence and flair every time they got on the ball. But it was Kerala, who had the first shot on target. Facundo Pereyra, with great vision, spotted Jordan Murray with a through ball, slicing open the Blues defence. Murray took a touch and shot at goal but Bengaluru’s Gurpreet Singh Sandhu produced a diving save to deny Kerala the lead.

Kerala finally capitalised in the 17th minute from a counter-attack. Gary Hooper intercepted a Bengaluru free-kick and made a fine run into opposition territory and set up Rahul KP. The youngster took a touch before drilling past Gurpreet with a low shot.

Bengaluru replied in the 29th minute when Cleiton Silva capitalised on a defensive mistake. Lalruatthara mistimed his clearance after Nishu Kumar headed a long ball into his own penalty box. Silva poked the ball past Albino Gomes. Soon after the restart, Bengaluru were awarded a penalty but Chhetri failed to score after Gomes read him correctly.

Bengaluru's response was instant, scoring twice in as many minutes. Silva generated the move finding Ashique Kuruniyan on the left. Paartalu, who was left unmarked in the box, turned in Ashique's cross. Then Opseth set up Dimas Delgado, after Lalruatthara gave away possession cheaply. Delgado did not make a mistake

Kerala managed to pull one back in the 61st minute. Pereyra's cross was on the money, reaching Vicente Gomes who flicked the ball to Murray. The Australian found the net with a fine touch. The home side restored their two-goal lead and this time, it was Chhetri who got his name on the score sheet. The India international made amends for his earlier penalty miss and headed in a Harmanjot Khabra cross.

MATCH DETAILS : FC Goa bagged their first win in the Hero Indian Super League Season 7 as they thumped Kerala Blasters 3-1 at the Fatorda Stadium, here on Sunday.

06/12/2020 :<b><font color=blue> (ISL: M-19) </b></font> FC GOA <b><font color=red> 3-1 </b></font> KERALA BLASTERS FC

A brace from Igor Angulo (30', 90') and one from Jorge Ortiz Mendoza (52') ensured Juan Ferrando picked up his first win as Goa head coach. Vincente Gomez (90') scored a consolation goal for Kerala. The home side came close to grabbing the lead once again seven minutes later, only to be denied by the upright. A miscued pass from Rohit Kumar put Angulo through on goal. The striker, with only the keeper to beat, attempted to curl his shot into the bottom corner but it struck the far post.

However, Angulo soon made up for the missed opportunity around the half-hour mark as he put Goa ahead. Gama flicked the ball towards Angulo in the box and the striker delightfully dinked it over Kerala goalkeeper Albino Gomes to bag his fourth goal of the season. Goa returned hungrier after the break and continued to pile on the pressure. Their efforts soon bore fruit as they doubled their lead through Mendoza. The forward received the ball outside the box and traded a lovely one-two with Brandon Fernandes before burying his shot into the far corner.

Kibu Vicuna's side threatened on quite a few occasions but were unable to find the back of the net. When a goal did arrive for them, the contest had already been settled in Goa's favour. Nishu whipped a cross for Gomez, whose header snuck into goal after brushing the underside of the crossbar. Kerala captain Costa Nhamoinesu was given his marching orders late on during injury time after being shown a second yellow card, following a rash tackle on Princeton Rebello. Goa added another goal late in injury time as Angulo pounced on a blunder from Gomez.

REPORT - ISL : Albino the hero as Kerala rescue point against Chennaiyin Kerala Blasters held Chennaiyin FC to a goalless draw courtesy a superb penalty save from Albino Gomes in their Hero Indian Super League encounter at the GMC Stadium, here on Sunday. Chennaiyin named an unchanged side from their opening win against Jamshedpur FC. Meanwhile, Kerala made three changes with Denechandra Meitei being handed his Hero ISL debut.

The first half remained goalless with either side failing to fashion clear-cut opportunities. Chennaiyin were the dominant side but weren’t clinical in the final third. Kerala goalkeeper Albino Gomes was called into action early on, in the third minute, saving a free-kick from Rafael Crivellaro.

29.11.2020 : (ISL: M-11) CHENNAIYIN FC <b><font color=red> 0-0 </b></font> KERALA BLASTERS FC

However, a blunder from Gomes almost handed Csaba Laszlo’s side the lead. The Kerala keeper fumbled while trying to clear the ball inside the 18-yard box. Bakary Kone made a vital clearance to save Kerala the blushes. At the other end, Vishal Kaith also produced a fantastic save to keep his side in the game. Rohit Kumar found space outside the box and fired a long ranger only to be denied by the Chennaiyin custodian. This was their only shot on goal during the first half.

Chennaiyin suffered a huge blow just before the drinks break as Lalchhuanmawia Fanai went down after a tackle. He was replaced by Jerry Lalrinzuala. The script wasn’t different in the second half as Chennaiyin remained the better side. However, Gomes pulled off a couple of fine saves to keep Laszlo’s team at bay. The first came when substitute Fatkhullo Fatkhuloev delivered a pinpoint free-kick into the box during the 67th minute. Gomes stayed alert to avert the danger.

The Kerala custodian then had his biggest influence on the match by producing a fine penalty save, eight minutes later. The referee pointed to the spot when Rafael Crivellaro was brought down in the box by Sergio Cidoncha. Jakub Sylvestr stepped up to take the spot-kick but was denied by Gomes, who pulled off a fantastic save. Chennaiyin pushed hard for a winner but Kerala saw the game out to secure a hard-fought point

REPORT - ISL : Substitute Idrissa Sylla found a goal out of nowhere in the dying minutes of the game to help NorthEast United complete a splendid comeback against Kerala Blasters in the Hero Indian Super League Season 7 at the GMC Stadium here on Thursday. Goals from Sergio Cidoncha (5') and Gary Hooper (45') gave Kerala a first-half lead. But Kwesi Appiah (51') halved the deficit before Sylla's late equaliser (90') in injury time ensured a point for the Highlanders.

After a minute's silence to honour Diego Maradona, Kerala got off to a dream start with Cidoncha heading in a Seityasen free-kick in the 5th minute. The Spaniard's looped header was a thing of beauty — no goalkeeper in the world could have saved that. Sahal Abdul Samad's absence had meant that Cidoncha was playing higher up and that strategy worked a treat.

In the 23rd minute, Hooper fluffed a sitter when NorthEast's defense was caught off guard. Cidoncha, after receiving the ball from Hooper, squared it back to him, with the Englishman facing an open goal. Hooper's first-time shot, though, blazed over the bar.

Both teams struggled to create clear-cut chances until the end of the first half until an offensive move from Kerala ended with the referee pointing to the spot. Rakesh Pradhan was rather harshly adjudged to have slashed Lalthathanga Khawlhring down. Hooper fired the resulting penalty straight down the middle. NorthEast keeper Subhasish Roy Chowdhury managed to get a foot to it, but the touch wasn’t enough to keep the ball out.

26.11.2020 :(ISL- M7): KERALA BLASTERS FC--<b><font color=red> 2-2 </b></font>--NORTH EAST UNITED FC <b>(FT)</b><br>

The Highlanders started the second-half positively and were soon rewarded for their intent. Some poor defending by Kerala allowed Appiah to score from close range. However, Appiah turned villain soon later when NorthEast were awarded a penalty in the 65th minute. The Ghanian tried to find Lalengmawia, but the latter was brought down in the box by Jessel Carneiro. Appiah stepped up to take the penalty but his spot-kick hit the crossbar before ricocheting out.

Minutes after his miss, Appiah was replaced by Guinean forward Sylla who would go on to have a major influence on the game. Nus' side kept knocking on the door and were soon rewarded for their efforts. Sylla missed a chance to draw level in the 83rd minute when he directed a header over the bar. But he made up for that in injury time, superbly controlling a long ball from Gurjinder Kumar with his chest before powering home past Kerala keeper Albino Gomes. In the end, the draw ensured that NorthEast remained unbeaten after two games.

THE TWO CHAMPION COACHES ARE READY FOR A PROMISING START

MATCH PREVIEW - 19.11.20 The seventh edition of Indian Super League will going to kick off on Friday, as ATK Mohun Bagan is all set to play the inaugural match of the tournament against two times runners up Kerala Blasters FC at a close door GMC stadium Bambolim, Goa.

This is the first major sporting event in India to start in the new normal. Though football starts in India a months back in new normal when IFA successfully organised I League qualifyers at Kolkata and Kalyani.

It is expected to be a challenging encounter as two top class coaches of the tournament will implent their stategies on Friday night. Much has changed since these two last met. For Kerala Blasters, there's an element of uncertainty with Kibu Vicuna replacing Eelco Schattorie as head coach. Vicuna, having steered Mohun Bagan to an I-League triumph last season while playing an attacking brand of football, faces his former employers with a point to prove.

The I league winning coach Kibu Vicuna before the match said, "I will always have good sentiments for Mohun Bagan. "I was there for a season and they treated me well. I have a lot of friends there in the board but I'm very happy to be with Kerala Blasters. I'm going to do my best, the people (here) also received me well. I have a good relationship with the members of the club and we're trying to create a good team who will try to play good football."
