If the match on 16th evening ends in a draw, then Mohan Bagan will be declared as the Champions of the CFL . East Bengal are the favorites undoubtedly on Tuesday evening. The combination of the two Nigerian stars Dudu Omegbemi and Ranty Martins proved to be effective in the last couple of matches. Dudu join the Red and Gold camp quite late but he is the most danger man in the East Bengal upfront . Dudu is one of the contenders of scoring the highest number of goals in the league currently scored eight goals with two hatricks against Army and SAI. But the East Bengal deep defense are lacking of consistency as they had considered some silly goals in the earlier matches. Even the goalkeeper Abhra Mondal are quite hesitant in reacting. Tollygunje Agragami are in front of a history after fifty six years. This I League playing club are really impressive in the league ,under the able guidance of the experienced coach Subrata Bhattacherjee. Tollygunje have three experienced foreigners in their brigade. In the central defense Belo Rasaq is leading the team. The football experts of Kolkata Maidan feels that Belo will act as a barrier between East Bengal and Tollygunje Agragami . The experience of Daniel Bedime and Koko Sakibo in the striking force cannot be neglected as Koko is still the joint top scorer jointly with Dudu of East Bengal with eight goals. Above all the match reading and strategy of Armando Colaco and Subrata Bhattacharjee will going to be one of the prime factor on Tuesday evening. On the contrary another successful coach Subash Bhowmick would be hoping for favorable result and wait for the conclusion of the penultimate match. ========================================== East Bengal to face Mohammedan Sc in opeining CFL Championship Derby JAYDIP DASGUPTA - 09.08.2014 : The final phase of the Sahara Calcutta Premier League will going to be kick off on Sunday evening as the two giants of Kolkata the defending champions East Bengal and Mohammedan Sporting Club will meet at the opening encounter at Yubabharati Kriangan. The combination of the Nigerian stars Dudu Omagbemi and Ranty Martins are proving to be positive and fruitful. These two Nigerians can change the course of a match by their individual brilliance. Though Red and Gold have to release their footballers for the Indian Super league but Chief Coach Armando Colaso and his deputy Sujit Chakroborty have been successful enough to combine the second line up effectively. East Bengal the last four years champions are in front of their fifth win in a row. Mohun Bagan are still in search of consistency though they had some important win in the league. The marquee footballer Pier Boa are yet to prove his supremacy, but he is regaining his form slowly. The Mariners striking force depends a lot on the ability of Balwant Singh, who has scored six goals so far, but the combination and cohesion between the footballers are not at the desired level. Mohun Bagan are without a trophy for last four years. A chance has came in their way though they have to wait for the result of the last match between East Bengal and Tollygunj Agragami. Tollygunj Agragami are in front of a milestone. This I League playing club lost it's fame in the recent past, but under the supervision of experienced coach Subrata Bhattcherjee Tollygunj showcased an improvised performance in the CFL. Tollygunj have three experienced foreigners in their line up – Belo Razaq, Koko Sakibo and Daniel Bedemi, who are capable of transforming the course of the match. But, above all the match reading and strategy of Subrata Bhattacherjee will going to be the prime factor on Tuesday evening. An important fixture are scheduled at Kolkata football in the coming week. Can Mohun Bagan bag the tittle and win a trophy after a gap of four years. Or it will be the Red and Gold to win the tittle for the fifth time in a row. But one should not deny the fact that Subrata Bhattacharjee, the experienced coach of Indian football are capable of making all the calculations in his favor. The Equations 1.If Mohun Bagan wins against Southern Samity then they will have to wait for the result of East Bengal and Tollygunj Agragami match. Mohun Bagan will be on 24 points. 2.If East Bengal wins against Tollygunj Agragami, they would be declared as champions with 25 points. 3.If Tollygunj Agragami wins against East Bengal, then they would be champion with 25 points. 4. If Mohun Bagan looses point against Southern Samity, then East Bengal will be in an advantageous position over Tollygunj Agragami as they have scored 25 goals. Tollygunj Agragami had scored 23 goals. In that condition a draw against Tollygunj Agragami can declare the Red and Gold as the champions with 23 points. 5. If Mohun Bagan looses against Southern Samity then Tollygunj would have to win against East Bengal to became the champions with 25 points. A draw against East Bengal will declare East Bengal as champions. 6.If Mohun Bagan wins against Southern Samity and the match between East Bengal and Tollygunj Agragami ends in a draw, then Mohun Bagan would be the champion with 24 points. East Bengal and Tollygunj Agragami will be on 23 points. Top goal scorer after ninth round : Koko Sakibo - 8 goals ( 1 hattick - Mohammedan SC) Dudu Omegbemi - 8 goals ( 2 hattricks - Army, Sai) Ranty Martins - 6 goals Balwant Singh - 6 goals ( 1 hattrick - Army) ====================================================== MOHUN BAGAN to face arch rival MOHAMMEDAN SC in CFL Premier Championship 23.08.2014 : JAYDIP DASGUPTA : Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan Sporting will going to clash in the second exhibition match of the Kolkata CFL on Sunday evening at Yuba bharati Kriangan. Mohun Bagan are with 9 points from three matches, currently placed at the second position in the league table. While Mohammedan Sporting are also at 9 points but they had played 4 matches so far. Mohun Bagan is the most consistent team in the league, has prove their dominance in all the departments. But the mariners require some developments in their central defense. Mohun Bagan after a long time are playing as a unit as the combination and coordination between the midfielders and the attacking force are working satisfactory. The inclusion of their two foreigners Katsumi Yusa in midfield and Piea Boya in the striking zone proved to be effective so far. Mohammedan Sporting had a good start in the league, when they defeated the defending champions East Bengal in their first match. In spite of a formidable performance against Kalighat MS in their second match they had to loose their third match against the Army XI by a brace. Mohammedan is basically a team which comprises of younger footballers except Ashim Biswas and Fhulchad Hembram. But, coach Fuja Topey has been successful enough to combine his team as the Black Panthers are utilizing both the flanks while attacking in sheer speed. It is expected to witness an interesting football match on Sunday evening. Subash Bhowmick are in a target to continue his winning run, while Fuja Topey's target is to depend on the counter attacks and set piece movements. ----------- IFA CFL PREMIER LEAGUE - CHAMPIONSHIP - 2014MOHUN BAGAN to face QUALIFYING LEADER TOLLYGUNGE AGRAGAMI in THEIR opeining CFL Championship10.08.2014 : JAYDIP DASGUPTA : The Mariners will meet against Tollygunj Agragami in their opening match of the Sahara Calcutta Football League at Yubabharati Kriangan on Monday.Tollygunj Agragami was a I-League playing club lost it's fame in the recent past. 'It's a great feeling , because East Bengal have bounced back, this was the feeling of relaxed Armando Colaco just after the Derby. Armando feels that this is only the beginning, East Bengal will prove their superiority in the coming matches. In fact East Bengal regain their form and prove themselves on Sunday evening as they capitalized the opportunities that came in their way. The Red and Gold Brigade could increase the margin if Ranty Martins and Tulunga did not waste the easiest chances that came in their way in the second half. In the first session both the teams had their opportunities though the score was 2-1 in favor of East Bengal. East Bengal took the lead in the 13th minute when Ranty Martins converted from a penalty. The Nigerian central defender of Mohan Bagan Fatai fouled the on rushing Cavin Lobo inside the 18 yards. Mohan Bagan equalized in the 20th minute when Sabeeth placed the ball in the open net. But the goal was rather controversial as the East Bengal goal keeper Abhijit Mondal was fouled just before the goal by Balwant Singh. East Bengal increased the margin just at the 44th minute when a long ranger Jaokim Abranches defected of Fatai and beat Shilton Paul, who had no answer to respond. In the second session East Bengal dominated all through playing a number of passes between themselves. Armando had a strategic change when he placed Mehtab Hossain in front of the central defenders to restrict the run of Katsumi and Sabeeth. The inclusion of Dudu Omegbemi in the second session put the Red and Gold in the drivers seat.
At one time East Bengal played 14to 18 passes inside the Mariners half leading by Mehtab and Lobo in the midfield. East Bengal scored their third goal at the 49th minute when a brilliant center from Abranches was headed towards the net by Ranty Martins. Mohun Bagan were the favorites before the Derby, but it has proved once again that the fate of the Derby cannot be predicted.
