His career took off when Air-India took him on during the second window of the 2011-12 season, where he effectively executed his role when deployed as a winger. On his I-League debut (Air India FC vs Pailan Arrows, 14 April 2012) at the Salt Lake Stadium he walked out with a satisfying memory scoring twice in the 2–0 result.

In his first professional season (2011-12), Prakash made 7 I-League appearances and played a role in his side staving off relegation and achieve a mid-table finish.

An overall impressive show helped him earn a permanent move to the Mumbai-based side in 2012-13. In fact, at the start of the season, Prakash was nominated captain when the team began its Durand Cup 2012 campaign. Although he featured at the start, injury ruled him out of the latter stages of the tournament, which Air-India and Prakash ended up winning.

Prakash followed up on his scoring ability netting three in the 2012-13 I-League in the 20 appearances (included 15 starts) he was handed, many as a winger to support the strikers.

The forward said; 'My target is to get settled in fast cement my place in the team, which I will work on immediately. This has been my dream and I want to prove myself in every single opportunity I get."

Nicknamed 'Pappya' by his friends, Prakash made his name particularly when at semi-professional side Deccan XI and Maharashtra State Police.

In 2010, he joined CD Alcoyano and helped them to promotion in his first season top-scoring with 12 goals throughout the campaign. A season in the Segunda Division (Second Division) was followed by a return to third division side Huracan Valencia for the 2012-13 season.

Pune FC signed Goal keeper Arup Debnath.

PRESS RELEASE PUNE FC : 31.07.2013 : Pune FC sign Arup Debnath, complete goalkeeper line-up for 2013-14 season. Pune FC has brought on experienced youngster Arup Debnath to complete their line-up in goal ahead of the 2013-14 season. The twenty-five year old, West Bengal-born custodian joins Pune FC after a season-long stint with Mumbai Tigers FC and joins Shahinlal Meloly and Amrinder Singh in the goal. Interestingly, Arup was part of Pune FC's wish-list back in 2009-10.

..Arup's signing by-far is Pune FC's fourth for the 2013-14 season after Prakash Thorat (striker), Jovel Martins (midfielder) and Anthony D'Souza (midfielder). Arup's signing continues to be in line with the club's philosophy of building a young squad for the future.

Pune FC Head Operations, Chirag Tanna said, "Pune FC welcomes Arup on board. I am sure his age syncs with our objectives of building a youthful and exciting side for the season. I wish him all the best during his stint with us." Arup added: "I always had an eye on Pune FC, I am happy that the time has come. I thank all who kept faith in my ability and want to prove myself now."

"I was very close in joining Pune FC earlier. Fate back then was not to be on my side, but now I have the opportunity to show my worth." Graduating from Steel Authority of India (SAIL), Bokaro, Arup as a 19-year-old began his professional career signing for East Bengal in the 2006-07.

Arup, thereafter, spent another season in Kolkata but had limited playing time owing to the experienced likes of Naseem Akhtar, Abhra Mondal, and Subrata Paul. He then moved to Mumbai signing for Air-India for the 2008-09 season. In Mumbai, as a first-choice keeper, Arup helped Air-India avoid the drop with a string of performances that helped establish himself as a high-rated shot-stopper in the I-League.

Following this breakthrough season, Arup rejoined East Bengal for the 2009-10 season. However, like his previous stint, Arup was in a limited role. The following season (2010-11), Arup returned to Air-India. He had a great start to the season playing the first seven games. However, Arup suffered a serious injury incidentally in a match against Pune FC at the turn of the year.

Falling awkwardly in a collision with then Pune FC striker Keita Mandjou, saw him suffer a serious hand injury. The subsequent operation and treatment saw Arup miss the remaining season and some more of the next. Post a long period of rehabilitation; Arup joined Kenkre FC ahead of the I-League 2nd Division qualifiers stage during the 2011-12 as he looked to re-establish himself, which turned out successful.

Thereafter, Arup joined at Mumbai Tigers in the 2012-13 season. He cemented his position in the goal during the Durand Cup campaign where Mumbai Tigers finished runners-up and throughout their I-League 2 campaign.

While Englishman Johnson has turned out for Middlesbrough in the English Premier League for a season, Kenyan Osano is a product of the Reading Academy and has last played for League Two side AFC Wimbledon.

"It's surely a big change but once the Manager told me about the Club, the vision and projects they have lined up, it wasn't hard to say yes. I've been doing my homework on the I-League and am looking forward to get there," said twenty-four year-old Johnson who spent his last three season at Northampton Town.

Johnson and Osano have played in the Central Defence and Right Back positions but are equally comfortable in the midfield.

"I have played with and against John and Curtis and the two will bring a lot of experience to the Team. The both have played over a 100 Games and that says a lot. John is flexible with positions, is a great athlete and is really strong in the air," Coach Ashley Westwood said.

The Goan duo Borges (left-winger cum defender) and Gabriel Fernandes (attacking winger) been roped in on-loan from Mohun Bagan and Dempo SC respectively, while Nagpur-lad Nawab Zeeshan Ur Rahman has penned a long 3-year deal. The trio, thus, turns out to be most ever signed by Pune FC during the second transfer window.

Pune FC Head of Operation Chirag Tanna said: “With the upcoming AFC fixtures, it was important for us to get more depth in our squad. We were monitoring Zeeshan's progress for some time now and when an opportunity arose to sign him, we couldn't let it pass. Gabriel and Nicolau have I-League experience will play an important role for us for the remainder of the season.”

Margao-based Nicolau, 34, began his professional career at Sporting Clube de Goa in 2004 after playing for a few amateur clubs. The winger cum defender then spent three years at Sporting before switching to state-rivals Dempo SC in 2007.

During his six-year stay stint in Dempo, Nicolau won three I-League titles apart from two Super-Cups and represented the Goans in AFC Cup and the ACL play-off against Al-Sharjah. At the start of 2013-14, Nicolau joined Mohun Bagan and has made a total of 3 I-League appearances, including one against Pune FC in Balewadi apart from playing frequently in the Calcutta Football League.

Fellow state-mate Gabriel, incidentally, began his as a junior at Dempo SC before moving to Sesa FA and then to Sporting Clube de Goa. Moving out of Goa, the Porvorim-born Gabriel joined Mumbai FC in 2012-13 and made his name. Playing a total of 24 games, Gabriel scored 4 valuable goals to help Mumbai FC to a respectable eighth place finish.

At the start of 2013-14, twenty-five year old Gabriel made the switch back to his first club, Dempo SC. Gabriel, who is comfortable playing as a lone striker or on any wing, has made a total of nine substitute appearances for the Goans. Pune FC’s third signing is Nagpur-born defender Zeeshan who arrives from the now defunct Mumbai Tigers. After playing for a few local clubs, Zeeshan joined Mumbai Tigers (then Dodsal FC) in 2012. During his time with them, the left-back has been a finalist (2012) and a semi-finalist (2013) in the Durand Cup apart from playing the 2013 I-League second division.

Zeeshan, thus becomes the fifth Maharashtra player to represent Pune FC after striker Sandesh Gadkari (2007-2011), winger Paresh Shivalkar (2010-12), winger Nikhil Kadam (2012-present) and striker Prakash Thorat (2013-present) since promotion to top flight.

indian player transfer 2013-14

BFC PRESS RELEASE - 03.01.2014 : Bengaluru FC, on Friday, formally announced the signing of sports performance coach Malcolm Purchase (49) and goalkeeping coach Ali Uzunhasanoglu (53) till the end of the current season. The duo bring with them tremendous experience from England and will surely play a big role in Bengaluru FC's already stellar debut season.

While Purchase has been in the sports performance and nutrition field for the last three decades that include two decades with UK Athletics, Turkish Uzunhasanoglu has been coaching in the United Kingdom for the last twenty years.

"I had a few offers in England, one of them from a Premier League club. But I gave Ashley (Westwood) my word and I wouldn't come here if I couldn't make a difference," said Purchase who started out with Wrexham FC while his last club in England was Wolverhampton Wanderers. Purchase has been in Bangalore for the last six weeks and hasn't wasted time conducting new age tests on the boys along with bringing about a change in the dietary habits.

"Everything used at Bengaluru FC is EPL standard. All the equipment for testing is up there with the best." On asked what he makes of the players, Purchase says that he has worked on some imbalances things are only looking up. "We are still two or three levels away from where we want to on the fitness front," he said.

Uzunhasanoglu, on the other hand, has spent 15 years as a player in Turkey before marriage took him to England where he had been coaching all the while. He began with Scarborough FC in the Third Division in the 1996-97 season and after stints at few more clubs, spent a the 2012-13 season with Preston North End FC before coming to Bengaluru FC.

Among the many goalkeepers he has dealt with across divisions in English football, a notable student of Uzunhasanoglu is current Premier League side Norwich City's goalkeeper John Ruddy. "I trained John when he was fifteen for three years at Cambridge United FC."

Like Purchase, Uzunhasanoglu too had worked with Westwood earlier and had no hesitation in accepting the chance to come to India. "I wanted to experience what coaching in India would be like and so I'm here." Though barely a week-old with the team, Uzunhasanoglu is impressed with the work ethic of the goalkeepers.

"They listen to instructions which is a very important aspect. I have to work on a few technical aspects with them and we will see what April brings. One thing is for sure, If I can't help them, I will walk away," he said.
