COACHES IMRESSION REGARDING THE 2ND SEMIFINAL

JUAN FERRANDO
Our mentality for this game is to play like it is a final and play to win because we want to reach the playoff final. In the first leg, Hyderabad had more rest compared to us, but now, we will be the same situation. The tactical and technical details will be important, but most of all, controlling the game will be a vital part of the match."

MANALO MARQUES
“The mood in the camp is good. They have a very strong squad and we managed to control their players really well. Tactically, we were very good in the first leg. They are more comfortable at home, but we are a very good team whether we play home or away because we don’t make a lot of changes.”

This will be the fourth encounter between the two sides this season. Both have won one game each and the only draw between them came in the first leg last Thursday. In the semi-final last season, Hyderabad FC progressed to the final with 3-2 aggregate win over the Mariners, although ATKMB had won the second leg at home.

The expectation of all four teams in the semis will be the same. All four teams have the ability to win the trophy.”

Juan Ferrando:
“We are not focusing on their individual players. We are focusing on them as a team because that is football. Ogbeche is a very good player and a proven goalscorer. But on the pitch, it is eleven versus eleven and our focus will never be on one player. The team has reached the semi-final and that is not because of just one player. The entire squad has contributed to it.”

Kerala Blasters FC failed to finish the league phase with the best home record after losing 1-0 to Hyderabad FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Sunday in the last Hero Indian Super League (ISL) game before the playoffs. Borja Herrera scored the only goal of the match in the 29th minute as the defending champions handed the Blasters their third consecutive loss.

In the opening ten minutes of the game, Marko Leskovic was quick to block Javier Siverio’s goal-bound shot from close range. However, the rebound fell to Joel Chianese who took an extra touch before volleying it onto the crossbar.

In the 29th minute, Borja Herrera put the visitors in front. The move started with Sahil Tavora’s excellent run in the middle third, where he cut into the midfield from the right before finding Halicharan Narzary on the left. The winger pulled it back into the box where Herrera managed to nestle the ball into the far post with a first-time shot.

Jamshedpur FC gets all three points in the end, but they had to clutch onto the victory right till the dying seconds of the game. The first half belonged to them as they made a strong comeback after going behind. However, Hyderabad FC came out in the second half with intent and got into their groove. They made some good changes and the red card of Eli Sabia helped them as well.

INDIAN SUPER LEAGUE - 2022-23 LIVE SCORE

JFC started to defend more and allowed the home side to put more pressure on them. The pressure paid off when Hyderabad FC got a penalty of their own and converted it to make the last few minutes of the game interesting. They tried their best, but the Jamshedpur FC defense stood strong to keep their one-goal lead intact.

They would think that they should have been playing like this earlier in the tournament. However, they will take this win and they give the away fans something to cheer about. Hyderabad FC have qualified for the play-offs but they will need to change a few things as they need a better performance than this going forward.

The start was good for the home side, HFC, as they were putting pressure on JFC by creating some openings. For some time, the away side was able to defend them, but ultimately conceded to a corner. However, after that, it was all about Jamshedpur FC. It looked like they just needed something to fire them up, and going behind did exactly that.

Ritwik Das scored to tie the game, but they were awarded a penalty for a handball on Bartholomew Ogbeche, which Jay Thomas converted. Soon after that, Hyderabad FC made another mistake at the back, which was punished by Daniel Chukwu. JFC looked like scoring every time they attacked, but Lalbiakhlua Jongte made a couple of brilliant saves to keep them away. They ended the half on a high as well, but Hyderabad FC need to change a few things at the break if they want to get back in the game. Will we see a comeback from HFC? Or will JFC take all three points? Let's find out in the second half.

Odisha FC maintained their stellar record at home this season after a 3-1 win over Hyderabad FC in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) at the Kalinga Stadium on Friday. The win saw the Juggernauts replace Bengaluru FC in sixth place, which adds extra pressure on the Blues who play Kerala Blasters on Saturday. A loss for Hyderabad FC also means that if Mumbai City FC win against FC Goa on Saturday, the Islanders will be crowned ISL League Shield winners.

INDIAN SUPER LEAGUE - 2022-23 LIVE SCORE

The Brazilian came closest in the 13th minute when his goal-bound shot picked up a slight deflection off Odei Onaindia and nicked the outside of the post. Saul Crespo controlled the tempo from midfield and almost contributed with a goal when his close-range header from a corner went wide.

Gurmeet was solid between the sticks, but it was not enough to keep Odisha FC quiet as they got their noses in front minutes after the half-hour mark. Pedro Martin played the ball back to Isak Ralte, who unleashed a curling stunner from about 30 yards out to put the hosts in front.

Just when it seemed that the Juggernauts were going into the break ahead, Hyderabad FC restored parity. Borja Herrera lofted the ball into the box from a free-kick which was cleared only as far as Nim Dorjee. The defender got his head on it to equalize

Six minutes into the second half, after a clever give-and-go with Narzary, Joel Chianese glided into the box with the ball and tried to squeeze it in at the near post, but Amrinder Singh had it covered. This chance came moments after Narzary’s header was saved comfortably by Amrinder.

Hyderabad FC turned their game up a little in the second half, but it was Odisha FC who retook the lead in the final quarter of the game. Mauricio’s marauding run attracted three defenders on the left side of the box before a loose ball fell into the path of Nandhakumar Sekar. The winger flashed it across the face of goal and it picked up a deflection off Dorjee and went into the back of the net.

Mauricio’s persistence was ultimately rewarded in the final minute of stoppage time. Isaac Chhakchhuak lobbed the ball into the box as the Brazilian beat the offside trap before nestling the ball in at the far post from an acute angle, confirming all three points for the Juggernauts.

Mumbai City FC and Hyderabad FC played out a hard fought 1-1 draw at the Mumbai Football Arena on Saturday, a result that is in favour of the current table-toppers. Hyderabad FC came into the game with nothing less than a win that would help their cause in the League Shield Winners race, but were kept in check by the Islanders throughout the game.

Having had a two-week break before this fixture, Hyderabad FC looked like they had deviced a higher press than usual and had the Islanders pinned to their own penalty area at the start.

But in the 20th minute, Lallianzuala Chhangte got involved down the right flank, combining with Lalengmawia Ralte to break into Hyderabad FC's box. That move ended with Chhangte getting his shot over the bar, but it signalled a change in momentum that would eventually hurt Hyderabad FC.

In the very next minute, Chhangte was in action on the right once again. This time, he held the ball under pressure and chipped it across the face of the goal for Bipin Singh, whose header on target was kept out by Nikhil Poojary's hand. Jorge Pereyra Diaz stepped up to take the resultant penalty and drilled it into the roof of the net to move into double-figures for the season and to put Mumbai City FC in front. The home side proceeded to take control of the ball from there on, with Hyderabad FC reverting to a less intense press as they struggled to find chances to break into the final third.

In the second half, it was initially Mumbai City FC who created chances that Hyderabad FC were able to stop. But the visitors found their first big opening in the 66th minute to find the equaliser. Against the run of play, holding midfielder Hitesh Sharma saw a space to run into between the defenders on the left side. Mohammad Yasir played him in from the wing, and the midfielder kept his cool to lift the ball into a narrow opening at the near post.

A big important point for HFC. To be honest, it was not their best performance but they will take a point anyway rather than dropping all three. With that, their five match winning streak comes to an end.

After the goal from Petar Sliskovic, the tides were going one way and it looked like HFC will go home upset but a bit of luck helped them to win the penalty in the dying minutes which Bartholomew Ogbeche converted.

CFC will be disappointed knowing they had the game covered but also a 1-0 scoreline always is fragile. In the end, it turned out to be shaky as they will look as two points dropped.

INDIAN SUPER LEAGUE - 2022-23 LIVE SCORE

Bartholomew Ogbeche produced a vintage performance as Hyderabad FC went back to top of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) table once again after beating FC Goa 3-1 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa on Thursday.

Ogbeche, who had previously scored only three goals in the season coming into the game, put Hyderabad FC in front on two occasions before sealing the result at the end.

Both teams got off to a slow start in this fixture. Neither had created any big chances in the first 15 minutes, but Hyderabad FC have never needed to be in control of the game to score goals, and they showed that once again. Halicharan Narzary picked out Ogbeche from the left flank, and the Nigerian striker placed his header to perfection to give Hyderabad FC the lead in the 20th minute.

FC Goa got their first real chance in the 28th minute. Edu Bedia played an outstanding pass from deep in midfield, but Noah Sadaoui couldn’t find the right contact. The half-chance led to a period where FC Goa made inroads into the final third more often but could not turn that into big chances. Hyderabad FC were happy to sit back, get into a compact shape, and wait for the half-time whistle. The half ended with Hyderabad FC leading 1-0.

INDIAN SUPER LEAGUE - 2022-23 LIVE SCORE

In the 54th minute, Sadaoui and Iker Guarrotxena combined to test Hyderabad FC's goalkeeper Gurmeet Singh, who made a great save to deny Guarrotxena's volley after picking up a pass from the left. Moments later, FC Goa came up with a similar move but found success. Sadaoui held up the ball on the left before floating it for a rushing Redeem Tlang to power the ball into the back of the net and level the score.

The game had opened up by now, and Hyderabad FC had a great chance to take the lead a few minutes later, thanks to Joel Chianese, but his shot was cleared off the line by Aibanbha Dohling. Sadaoui was finding a lot of joy on the left flank in the second half, and Hyderabad FC seemed to have no answers for him. On one occasion it looked like he’d set up Mohamed Fares to take the lead, but the goal was chalked offside.

FC Goa enjoyed most of the possession but weren’t able to turn that into goals. Ogbeche made them pay for it by putting Hyderabad FC in the lead in the 79th minute. The ISL’s all-time top goalscorer got on the end of a rebound and smashed the ball into the roof of the net to give Hyderabad FC the lead. He got his hat-trick in the 90th minute and confirmed the three points for Hyderabad FC with a sublime header.

Hyderabad FC earned their fourth win on the trot, a dominant 6-1 win against NorthEast United FC as they go top of the table, in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) at the G.M.C. Balayogi Athletic Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday. Javier Siverio bagged a brace, while Borja Herrera, Odei Onaindia and Joel Chianese were on target for the defending champions, with the final Hyderabad FC goal coming in the form of a Gaurav Bora own-goal.

Both sides made a solitary change to their respective sides. Mohammad Yasir returned to the starting XI for the hosts and Rohit Danu dropped to the bench. Sehnaj Singh came in to replace the suspended Jon Gaztanaga in the NorthEast United FC midfield.

Four goals were scored in the first half and the first one came in the eighth minute via Siverio. Herrera whipped a corner in over the defence before Siverio side-footed a volley past Mirshad Michu from close range.

INDIAN SUPER LEAGUE - 2022-23 LIVE SCORE

Herrera turned from provider to scorer in the 24th minute when he cut in from the right flank before making his way past two NorthEast United FC defenders and getting his shot away. Michu got a glove to the ball but it snuck past him at the near post.

At the half-hour mark, the defending champions went three up. Herrera was at the heart of the move yet again. The Spanish midfielder’s free-kick was headed clear by Bora but only as far as Onaindia, who pounced on it and buried it past the keeper.

Five minutes later, Wilmar Jordan’s header was palmed over the bar by the keeper and a minute later, the Highlanders pulled a goal back. Hyderabad FC failed to clear the ball properly as Pragyan Gogoi played it back into the box, where Aaron Evans skipped the offside trap and slotted it past Gurmeet Singh.

In the final quarter of the game, a long diagonal came to Yasir on the left flank. The winger put in a low cross that was tapped in by Siverio. Four minutes later, substitute Joel Chianese was picked out by Halicharan Narzary and scored with his first involvement in the game.

Ten minutes from time, Chianese rose highest to head a corner towards goal. The effort was parried by the keeper towards Bora and the defender only managed to head the ball back into his own net.

Bartholomew Ogbeche ended his seven-game goal drought as Hyderabad FC eased past Bengaluru FC with a 3-0 win in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday. The striker broke the deadlock from a cleverly-worked free-kick before forcing an own-goal out of Sandesh Jhingan at the stroke of half-time. Joel Chianese came off the bench to wrap the game up in the 90th minute.

INDIAN SUPER LEAGUE - 2022-23 LIVE SCORE

The opening goal came when Halicharan Narzary, Herrera, and Ogbeche combined brilliantly to execute a well-worked free kick near the edge of the box that saw Ogbeche smash a low shot past Gurpreet Singh Sandhu to end his scoring drought in the 26th minute. His last goal before the seven-game drought came in the reverse fixture earlier this season.

A minute before the break, Hyderabad FC doubled their lead. Narzary whipped in a cross from the left before Ogbeche headed it into the grass. The ball was heading off-target before Jhingan’s scuffed clearance sliced it into the back of his own net as the defending champions went in at half-time with a two-goal cushion.

Substitutes combined to put the game to bed as Abdul Anjukandan’s low cross from the right was side-footed into the far post by Chianese in the final minute of the game as the Blues fell to their seventh defeat of the season.

The loss keeps them in eighth position, nine points off the last playoff spot. The Blues will travel to the Salt Lake Stadium next to take on East Bengal FC on December 30, Friday. Hyderabad FC are back at the top of the table, a point ahead of Mumbai City FC, who have a game in hand. The defending champions will host NorthEast United FC on December 29, Thursday.

2nd HALF MATCH ( ISL RELEASE) : HFC have grabbed all three points here. They were more clinical than the away team, and that made the difference. The first half was quite even in terms of chances created, but a stunning volley from Mohammad Yasir gave Hyderabad FC the lead.

East Bengal FC also had a great opportunity, but Gurmeet Singh made a good one-on-one save right at the end of the first half. After the resumption, HFC took control of the midfield and more often than not broke into the opposition box, but they were denied by Kamaljit Singh, who made an excellent double save. However, they could not keep them away for longer, as soon after that, Javier Siverio made it 2-0 and took the game in their favour.

EBFC came close to getting a consolation, but their quality in the final third let them down. So, it is Hyderabad FC who continue their challenge for the top position and are looking like a good unit. EBFC will hope to improve and come back stronger in their next game.

INDIAN SUPER LEAGUE - 2022-23 LIVE SCORE

FIRST HALF MATCH ( ISL RELEASE) : HFC lead by 1-0 goal going into the break. The game started with both teams trying to play some cautious football, but Hyderabad FC were winning the midfield battle.

However, the first chance came through EBFC, which they did not take. They did create some more openings, but did not test Gurmeet Singh that much until the very end of the half when Cleiton Silva fluffed his lines. HFC got control of the game midway through and put more pressure on the East Bengal FC defence.

They did alright to keep them away, but a moment of brilliance from Mohammad Yasir gave them the lead. Hyderabad FC threatened with some more chances, but it remains only a one-goal lead. EBFC will be happy with that and come out with more intensity to get back in the game. We can expect an exciting second half. Stay tuned.

Halicharan Narzary, Chinglensana Singh, and substitute Borja Herrera struck in the second half to push the defending champions back into second place.

Chennaiyin FC made four changes that saw Gurmukh Singh, Vincy Barretto, Edwin Vanspaul, and Abdenasser El Khayati coming in as Vafa Hakhamaneshi, Sajal Bag, and Sourav Das, Jockson Dhas were left out. A couple of changes for the visitors saw Joel Chianese and Halicharan Narzary return to the lineup, as Borja Herrera was benched and Reagan Singh was not in the squad.

INDIAN SUPER LEAGUE - 2022-23 LIVE SCORE

Hyderabad FC almost got their noses in front in first-half stoppage time. Nikhil Poojary crossed the ball from the right flank before Fallou Diagne beat Chianese to it. However, a clearance went straight to Narzary, whose shot rattled the crossbar.

Five minutes past the hour-mark, the deadlock was broken with a superb strike from Narzary. Hyderabad FC’s short corner routine saw Chennaiyin FC tackle the ball straight into the path of Narzary, who wrapped his boot around it and buried it into the back of the net. Moments after the opening goal, Chennaiyin FC were reduced to ten men when right-back Ajith was shown a second yellow in the 71st minute.

Approaching the game's final quarter, the visitors doubled their advantage thanks to Chinglensana Singh’s close-range volley. Another corner was not cleared properly by Chennaiyin FC as they only cleared it as far as Chinglensana, who smashed it into the goal from close range in the 74th minute.

Four minutes later, the Marina Machans pulled one back when El Khayati’s cross from the left was headed in from close range by Petar Sliskovic. However, the joy was short-lived as the men in yellow re-established their two-goal advantage seven minutes later. Substitute Borja Herrera picked the ball out of the air at the edge of the box and fired it into the top-left corner.

Towards the end of the first half, Sawyer entered the box and faced the goal from an acute angle. The striker opted to shoot rather than pass and saw his effort fly high. The game’s complexion changed early in the second half as Hyderabad FC drew first blood. Halicharan Narzary’s low cross aimed at Ogbeche was intercepted by Peter Hartley. However, the ball eventually landed in front of an unmarked Yasir, who squeezed the ball in at the near post in the 48th minute.

Approaching the final quarter of the game, the hosts finally tested substitute keeper Anuj Kumar. Boris Singh found Sawyer with a low cross inside the box. Sawyer had his back towards goal as he rolled it back towards Hartley, whose shot was low and hard, but unable to beat Anuj.

Seven minutes from regulation time, Odei Onaindia headed the ball back towards Anuj. Under pressure from Ishan Pandita, Anuj fumbled and ended up handling the ball outside the box. The shot-stopper only saw a yellow card for the offence and Jamshedpur FC failed to get anything from the resulting free kick.

Hyderabad FC retained their place at the top of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) table after a 1-0 victory over FC Goa at the G.M.C. Balayogi Athletic Stadium in Hyderabad today. Javier Siverio (‘10) scored the only goal of the game, whereas FC Goa’s Alvaro Vazquez, who had come on as a substitute, missed a great chance to get an equaliser after sending his penalty wide in the 83rd minute.

INDIAN SUPER LEAGUE - 2022-23 LIVE SCORE

Half-time ended with Hyderabad FC taking a 1-0 lead. FC Goa head coach Carlos Pena made a double switch before heading into the second-half. Marc Hernandez and Redeem Tlang made way for Mohamed Fares Arnaout and Makan Chothe.

The second-half started with both sides showing greater urgency. Hyderabad FC were more aggressive, attempting to put FC Goa on the backfoot by overloading the flanks. FC Goa were also less patient in their build-up, looking to play the ball in behind more often.

Noah Sadaoui was found clear on goal four minutes later for FC Goa, but some good work from Kattimani once again, who was quick off his line, forced the Morrocan to delay his shot, and take it from a difficult angle.

FC Goa made another double switch later in the half. Noah Sadaoui and Brandon Fernandes made way for Alvaro Vazquez and Brison Fernandes. Hyderabad FC were the better side for the next 10 minutes, getting into the final third with more ease, but were unable to fashion some clear goalscoring opportunities.

Not long after, FC Goa were given a penalty against the run of play. Akash Mishra went flying into the path of Alvaro Vazquez in the box. Vazquez took it upon himself to take the penalty, but his shot went wide.

The game was quite frenetic for the next couple of minutes. Six minutes of added time were signalled, during which Edu Bedia had a chance to equalise in the 95th minute after being found on the far post, but Laxmikant Kattimani denied him with a brilliant save. The match ended 1-0 to Hyderabad FC.

Hyderabad FC found some space on the wings in the first couple of minutes but weren’t able to find the right cross. Ogbeche, who was the league’s top goalscorer last season, was kept quiet by Bengaluru FC’s five-man backline. Alan Costa, in particular, was impressive from his right centre-back position for Bengaluru FC.

INDIAN SUPER LEAGUE - 2022-23 LIVE SCORE

Bengaluru FC captain Sunil Chettri, who was making his 100th appearance for the club – and became the first player to achieve this for a single ISL club - showed his composure and quality every time he got on the ball, but Hyderabad FC did a good of making sure he wasn’t being supplied with the ball regularly. Jayesh Rane started his first game of the season for Bengaluru FC, but they faced the same ball retention issues again.

Both teams made some attacking changes with 75 minutes gone. Leon Augustine had come on for Siva in the 64th minute, this was followed by double substitutions from both sides 10 minutes later.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 83rd minute by Ogbeche, giving Hyderabad FC a 1-0 lead. Borja Herrera’s corner was tamely pushed by Gurpreet Sandhu into the path of Ogbeche, who headed home his second goal of the campaign. That was enough for Hyderabad FC to get all three points. They now sit on seven points, with Bengaluru FC on four.

INDIAN SUPER LEAGUE - 2022-23 LIVE SCORE

Hyderabad FC secured their first win of the season after a dominant 3-0 victory over NorthEast United FC in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati. Hyderabad FC dominated the game as Bartholomew Ogbeche, Halicharan Narzary and Borja Herrera got their names on the scoresheet. They finished the game with nine shots on target while NEUFC could only muster two.

In the 13th minute, there was a sign of what was to come for the Highlanders on the night, when Mohamed Irshad brought Halicharan Narzary down on the left flank and had his name taken by the referee. From the resulting freekick, Mohammad Yasir whipped a beautiful ball into the box and Bartholomew Ogbeche simply side-footed the ball into the back of the net to give the defending champions an early lead.

Five minutes into the second half, Ogbeche and Siverio played a sublime one-two before the former was taken down inside the box by Gaurav Bora, and the referee immediately pointed to the spot. Ogbeche stepped up to take the penalty but Bhattacharja went the correct way to deny the Nigerian, keeping the Highlanders in the game briefly.

In the 69th minute, yet another instance of sloppiness from NorthEast United FC resulted in a goal-scoring chance that was successfully taken. Bhattacharja rolled the ball towards Bora, who was robbed of it by Narzary. The 28-year-old kept his composure and slotted in Hyderabad FC’s 100th Hero ISL goal. Four minutes later, Narzary combined well with substitute Borja Herrera on the left flank. Herrera scored Hyderabad FC’s third goal of the evening, just two minutes after coming on.

Hyderabad FC's dominance could have resulted in more goals. Four minutes from regulation time, striker Ogbeche rattled the crossbar and the play only resulted in a goal kick. The final scoreline was only the second instance of a team this season not managing to get on the scoresheet, with the previous instance also involving NorthEast United FC.

INDIAN SUPER LEAGUE - 2022-23 LIVE SCORE

Defending champions Hyderbad FC and Mumbai City FC took a point each as both sides kicked their Hero Indian Super League (ISL) campaign off with an enthralling 3-3 draw at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune.

In the 23rd minute, Mumbai City FC drew first blood on the counter. Bipin blitzed down the left flank before whipping a low ball into the box that was deflected into the back of his own net by Chinglensana. Hyderabad FC pulled level in the last minute of first-half stoppage time after Lalengmawia Ralte brought Bartholomew Ogbeche down inside the box and conceded a penalty. Joao Victor sent the keeper the wrong way from the spot to restore parity.

Five minutes into the second half, the game turned on its head as Chianese took advantage of a midfield mixup and played the ball through to Mohammed Yasir. The 24-year-old winger played an inch-perfect pass to Halicharan Narzary who made no mistake in slotting the ball past the keeper. Less than five minutes later, Bipin’s effort was brilliantly saved by Laxmikant Kattimani, denying The Islanders an equaliser.
