Jamshedpur FC finished their season on a high and dealt a potentially fatal blow to Odisha FC’s playoff ambitions after a dominant 2-0 win in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) at the Kalinga Stadium on Wednesday. Goals from Harry Sawyer and Ritwik Das handed the Red Miners their third win in four games and kept FC Goa alive in the playoff pursuit this season. Odisha FC came into the game needing just a point to seal qualification, but will now have to count on FC Goa to not win against Bengaluru FC on Thursday.
The opening twenty minutes were a cagey affair, as the ball stayed in the middle of the park for most of that period. Approaching the half-hour-mark, Sawyer had a couple of opportunities that came his way but neither manifested in a goal that broke the deadlock. At the other end of the pitch, Diego Mauricio cut in from the left flank and glided past three players before shooting straight at the keeper to register the host’s first effort on target in the 34th minute.
Five minutes from the break, Jay Thomas used quick feet to get a strike at goal from inside the box, but Amrinder Singh stood his ground and blocked the on-target shot. At the end of the first half, Jamshedpur FC had more attempts on goal despite Odisha FC keeping more of the ball.
Odisha FC’s playoff hopes were left hanging in the balance just past the hour-mark when they conceded two goals in quick succession to Sawyer and Das. The first goal came after a defensive error from Narender Gahlot allowed the visitors to link up for a goal that was headed in by Sawyer. Seconds later, on a quick break, Das slotted the second past Amrinder.
In the 70th minute, Das outmuscled Shubham Sarangi and tried to lob the keeper but Amrinder tracked back and managed to palm it over the bar. The winger kept trying to find a gap in the Odisha FC back line as the frustrated Juggernauts found themselves at the wrong end of the pitch.
Approaching the 80th minute, Mauricio got past a couple of defenders and went for goal from a tight angle. The striker’s shot was blocked out for a corner which resulted in nothing. Moments later, the same move was replicated and, once again, Odisha FC could not find a way past the staunch Jamshedpur FC defence. Even to the very end, it was the visitors who created all the big chances as Odisha FC ended the game with just one shot on target.

Odisha FC climbed back up into the playoff spots of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) after a resounding 3-1 win against NorthEast United FC at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium on Friday. Goals from Nandhakumar Sekar, Victor Rodriguez, and Diego Mauricio picked up three vital points for the Juggernauts, who are now one point away from sealing their first ever playoffs qualification.
Odisha FC kicked off with Pedro Martin and Diego Mauricio up front. The attacking intent was evident, but it was NorthEast United FC who made the better start and ventured forward in the first ten minutes. The first attempt came from Jithin MS as the winger tried to bend one into the far post from the left flank but ended up firing it wide.
At the other end of the pitch, Odisha FC finally started challenging the NorthEast United FC backline. Opportunities fell to the Spanish duo of Martin and Saul Crespo but neither one of them could get their attempts on target.
But in the 36th minute, the deadlock was broken and Odisha FC took a crucial lead. Raynier Fernandes and Sahil Panwar exchanged a couple of passes after a short corner as the latter found Nandhakumar near the edge of the box. The winger took one look at goal and put his boot through the ball to find the top right corner.
NorthEast United FC had a couple of opportunities in the first ten minutes of the second half. From a corner aimed at the far post, Aaron Evans’ header was off target. Moments later, Parthib Gogoi showed excellent awareness on the right flank as he spotted an opening at the near post. The youngster tried his luck from near the touchline and forced Amrinder to readjust his footing and palm it behind for a corner.
But Odisha FC established a two-goal cushion five minutes past the hour-mark. From the right flank, Crespo squared a low ball into the box for Rodriguez. The substitute’s deft touch helped him dodge Evans before driving it past Bhattacharja seven minutes after coming on. In the last ten minutes, Laldanmawia Ralte fouled Crespo inside the box and gave away a penalty. Mauricio fired it straight down the middle to make it 3-0. In the second minute of stoppage time, a first clean sheet in eight games was snatched away from Odisha FC after Wilmar Gil fired one home from the spot following Shubham Sarangi’s foul.

Odisha FC maintained their stellar record at home this season after a 3-1 win over Hyderabad FC in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) at the Kalinga Stadium on Friday. The win saw the Juggernauts replace Bengaluru FC in sixth place, which adds extra pressure on the Blues who play Kerala Blasters on Saturday. A loss for Hyderabad FC also means that if Mumbai City FC win against FC Goa on Saturday, the Islanders will be crowned ISL League Shield winners.
The Brazilian came closest in the 13th minute when his goal-bound shot picked up a slight deflection off Odei Onaindia and nicked the outside of the post. Saul Crespo controlled the tempo from midfield and almost contributed with a goal when his close-range header from a corner went wide.
Gurmeet was solid between the sticks, but it was not enough to keep Odisha FC quiet as they got their noses in front minutes after the half-hour mark. Pedro Martin played the ball back to Isak Ralte, who unleashed a curling stunner from about 30 yards out to put the hosts in front.
Just when it seemed that the Juggernauts were going into the break ahead, Hyderabad FC restored parity. Borja Herrera lofted the ball into the box from a free-kick which was cleared only as far as Nim Dorjee. The defender got his head on it to equalize
Six minutes into the second half, after a clever give-and-go with Narzary, Joel Chianese glided into the box with the ball and tried to squeeze it in at the near post, but Amrinder Singh had it covered. This chance came moments after Narzary’s header was saved comfortably by Amrinder.
Hyderabad FC turned their game up a little in the second half, but it was Odisha FC who retook the lead in the final quarter of the game. Mauricio’s marauding run attracted three defenders on the left side of the box before a loose ball fell into the path of Nandhakumar Sekar. The winger flashed it across the face of goal and it picked up a deflection off Dorjee and went into the back of the net.
Mauricio’s persistence was ultimately rewarded in the final minute of stoppage time. Isaac Chhakchhuak lobbed the ball into the box as the Brazilian beat the offside trap before nestling the ball in at the far post from an acute angle, confirming all three points for the Juggernauts.

Odisha FC held on to seal a 1-1 draw against FC Goa at the Kalinga Stadium on Monday, despite being a man down for the final quarter of the game. First-half goals from Noah Sadaoui and Diego Mauricio had set up a big second half for the two playoff contenders who will, nonetheless, likely be happy with a result that didn't damage either of their prospects.
FC Goa got off to the perfect start when Sadaoui put them ahead in the second minute. Alvaro Vazquez picked up the ball in midfield as Odisha FC were looking to push forward, and found Sadaoui with a through ball on the left side of the box. Odisha FC's defence was spread out and tracking back as the forward found time to compose himself and drive the ball past Amrinder's left hand.
Odisha FC did manage to create the better chances from there on, often from the left with Isak Ralte being their outlet. FC Goa defended narrowly and in numbers for the majority of the half, offering very little for the hosts to breach, until Ralte was fouled a few yards outside the box towards the end of the half. Mauricio stepped up to take the resulting free-kick and powered a curler that was too much for Dheeraj Singh leaping to his right.
FC Goa nearly went back into the lead before the end of the half, with Sadaoui and Vazquez switching roles on this occasion. Sadaoui's cross from the left flank found the striker who had beaten his marker, but got his glancing header just wide.
The two combined yet again in what was an electric period of end-to-end football early in the second half. Sadaoui played Vazquez through, who found the back of the net before he saw the flag raised for offside. In the next minute, Nandhakumar Sekar put in a perfectly weighted cross that found Saul Crespo's powerful header, only for Dheeraj to pounce to his right and save. From there, FC Goa managed to get the ball out to Sadaoui whose long shot was straight at the keeper.
This pace to the game temporarily came to a stop as Odisha FC were forced to slow things down in the 67th minute, when left-back Sahil Panwar picked up a second yellow for a challenge from behind. With no major attacking push coming from FC Goa, the home side made a spate of positive-minded substitutions in the 81st minute, shortly after Amrinder had made a crucial save as Hernan Santana's shot came through a crowded penalty box.
While these substitutions didn't translate into chances for Odisha FC, they also didn't face any substantial threats to their goal until the end of the game, barring a free-kick from Brandon Fernandes that went over and a deflected long-range shot from Santana that Amrinder kept his eyes on.
The result put Odisha FC level on matches with Bengaluru FC, but a point behind sixth place, while FC Goa remain in fourth. Odisha FC stay at home to face Hyderabad FC on Friday, while FC Goa head back home to face Mumbai City FC on Saturday.

It ends 2-2 then! Not the result CFC wanted as it was a must-win game for them whereas OFC won't really mind this result. However, the draw is a fair result in the end. Both teams played brilliantly and it was quite an entertaining game. The sides entered the second half 1-1.
It was OFC who took the lead early in the second half but CFC did not take long to find the equalizer. CFC then kept attacking, Abdenasser El Khayati caused a lot of problems. He also hit the post once and forced Amrinder Singh to make a few saves. OFC failed to create a lot of clear cut chances but were strong at the back. They will be happy to get a point from here and it is a well-deserved one.
An excellent first half of football. It was CFC who started brilliantly and kept up the good work but all against the run of play OFC found the lead through Diego Mauricio. CFC though were quick to square things through Thapa. Minutes later OFC again had a chance to take the lead as Isak Vanlalruatfela tried to score through a deflection but his goal was ruled out due to offside.
As things went on, both teams shared the possession and ended without much to separate. Still, we feel it is CFC who will be the happier side. Both teams are fragile at the back so it shouldn't surprise if we see more goals in the second half.

ATK Mohun Bagan moved back up into third place with a 2-0 victory over Odisha FC in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on Saturday. Dimitri Petratos bagged a brace to end the Mariners’ two-game goalless spell. The loss, combined with Bengaluru FC’s win earlier in the day, dropped Odisha FC out of the playoff spots with a game in hand.
The wait for the opening goal of the match was not long as Petratos put ATK Mohun Bagan in front after just three minutes. Manvir Singh’s cross was deflected by Osama Malik before Hugo Boumous’ clever pass guided the ball straight to Petratos, who slotted it home.
The initial attacks for the Mariners came down the right flank as they came very close to doubling their lead just two minutes after the opener. This time, Manvir opted to go for goal himself instead of crossing it in. The low shot was straight at Amrinder Singh, who got his gloves behind it.
In the 15th minute, Vishal Kaith’s misfired first touch after Boumous’ back pass almost allowed Saul Crespo to tap the ball into the net. But the keeper did enough to deny the midfielder at the crucial moment.
The possession was evenly distributed between the two sides in the first half. However, Odisha FC managed to put just one shot on target in 45 minutes. That effort came in the form of a tame shot via Nandhakumar Sekar in the 37th minute, and it was saved comfortably by Kaith.
ATK Mohun Bagan started the second half exactly like they started the first - on the front foot. Two minutes in, Ashique Kuruniyan waltzed into the box from the left flank, but his eventual shot was wayward. At the other end, Odisha FC failed to keep yet another attempt on target as Carlos Delgado’s optimistic effort from range went sailing over the bar.
In an extremely cagey affair, the hosts had to wait till the 80th minute for their second goal. With a beautifully executed move, Boumous picked Asish Rai on the right flank. Completely unmarked, the right-back galloped into the box before playing a low ball across the face of goal, which was tapped in by Petratos.
Liston Colaco almost made it 3-0 five minutes from time, but the upright denied the substitute his second goal of the season. Odisha FC were ineffective in the final third as they finished the game with just one effort on target. The game came to a bittersweet end for ATK Mohun Bagan after Ashique was sent off in the final minute of stoppage time for an off-the-ball offence.

MATCH SUMMARY: Bengaluru FC clinched back-to-back wins for the first time this season, beating Odisha FC 3-1 in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday to signal their arrival into the playoffs race.
Rohit Kumar broke the deadlock before Roy Krishna ended his ten-game goalless streak to double the Blues’ advantage. Diego Mauricio pulled one back from the spot in the opening stages of the second half, but the home side managed to close Odisha FC's pursuit for the major part of the game before Pablo Perez came on to score his first goal for the Blues in stoppage time to wrap up all three points. This was the first time this season that Bengaluru FC scored more than two goals in a game.
Despite dominating possession in the early stages, the Juggernauts were at the receiving end of two quickfire goals. 25 minutes into the game, Javi Hernandez’s cross from the right flank was cut back across the face of goal by Alan Costa, straight into the path of Rohit Kumar, who planted the ball into the back of the net.
Just three minutes later, against the run of play, Sivasakthi Narayanan galloped down the left flank and played a perfect through ball for Roy Krishna. The Fijian took a touch before calmly slotting the ball past Amrinder Singh to end his ten-game goal drought. Five minutes from the break, Hernandez pounced on a loose ball near the halfway line and sprinted towards the goal before seeing his close-range effort saved by Amrinder.
The second half got off to a bright start with end-to-end football on display. The hosts had a couple of chances that were dealt with by Amrinder before Mauricio was brought down at the other end by Gurpreet Singh Sandhu after skipping past Parag Shrivas. The striker stepped up to take the penalty and sent Sandhu the wrong way from the spot to pull one back for his team. It was the striker’s fifth goal in three games for his club.
But problems piled up for Gombau as half-time substitute Victor Rodriguez picked up an injury and had to be taken off in the 70th minute with Pedro Martin coming on. In the 92nd minute, the game was put to bed after substitutes Udanta Singh and Pablo Perez combined to score on the counterattack as Odisha FC pushed hard in Bengaluru FC’s third.

Diego Mauricio continued his fine form, bagging his second brace for Odisha FC in as many games as they put an end to their four-game winless streak to move into fifth place on the Hero ISL table on Saturday. Odisha FC fell behind early in the first half at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, but gave their home support much to cheer about as they outscored East Bengal FC for the remainder of the game.
Cleiton Silva, who is now the leading goalscorer of the season, put East Bengal FC in front in the 10th minute after capitalising on Odisha FC goalkeeper Amrinder Singh's mistake. Alex Lima played a lofted pass over the defence on the right side, and Amrinder rushed out indecisively to find himself stranded. Silva showed no hesitation in chipping the ball from a tight angle and put the visitors in front.
Odisha FC nearly levelled the score minutes later, when Thoiba Singh picked up the ball from Mauricio as he drove into the box, and found Jerry Mawihmingthanga unmarked at the far post. The forward couldn't keep his balance as he pushed the ball wide of the far post of an open goal.
But the hosts didn't have to wait for too long after that, with Raynier Fernandes whipping a cross into the six-yard box from a corner and finding no resistance from the East Bengal FC. He found Mauricio a few yards in front of the goalkeeper, and the striker stuck his right foot out to score.
On either side of the half-time whistle, Odisha FC then found the goals to put the fixture to bed. The first of those was a fortuitous one for Nandhakumar Sekar, who was looking to cross the ball in from the left and ended up slicing it with his left foot. The ball kept going in its original path and eventually cleared East Bengal FC goalkeeper Suvam Sen to land in the back of the net.
Not long after the second half began, Mauricio picked up a second goal. Fernandes was the provider for him once again, pushing forward from the right side of central midfield before slipping it into the channel for Mauricio on the right side of the box. The striker picked up the ball, kept his composure with the lack of a press from the defence, and managed to dink the ball into the near post past Sen's left shoulder.
East Bengal FC produced a host of chances from there on, trying to throw players forward in numbers, and came close on a few occasions but never with any conviction. In the 85th minute, Ankit Mukherjee managed to put the ball past Amrinder's near post after a scramble in the box, but the effort was flagged offside. That was the biggest highlight of a period of end-to-end football as the game headed towards the final whistle, where neither team managed to give other anything substantial to worry about.

Mumbai City FC have continued with their hot run and bulldozed yet another team in their path. It was a bit of a cagey affair in the first half, and it came to life only at the fag end when MCFC created a couple of close chances but without the end product. The second half started well as both teams looked a bit more organized.
The tempo of the game was certainly better and soon, the brilliant combination of Lallianzuala Chhangte and Jorge Diaz set up the first goal of the match. Odisha FC were determined though and were not ready to take it lying down. Minutes after the first goal, Diego Mauricio showed his brilliance and joined forces with Victor Rodriguez to earn the equalizer.
It was a productive period of play as Mumbai City FC regained the lead through Bipin Singh and then the floodgates opened. The visitors got one more as Lallianzuala Chhangte scored his second goal of the evening before playing a part in the fourth goal for MCFC.
Odisha FC did pull one back through Mauricio in the added time but it was too late for them. After putting up stern resistance, the home team lost the plot and suffered their fifth loss of the season - first at home.

The home crowd had reason to cheer at the end of a game for the first time at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on Saturday as NorthEast United FC ended a ten-match losing streak to pick up their first points and win of the season. The home side beat ATK Mohun Bagan by a solitary goal, with striker Wilmar Jordan the man to put them in front in the 69th minute, before they kept their discipline at the back to seal a result that ended the Mariners' own unbeaten streak and left them vulnerable to dropping out of the top three.
It was ATK Mohun Bagan that started the game on the front foot - and it would stay that way until they conceded. The visitors had a sizable number of shots on target at almost every point in the game, but an organised NorthEast United FC defense made sure that none of these shots were ever able to be substantial ones.
To their credit, the home side also made sure they kept their scoring options open and didn't allow ATK Mohun Bagan's much higher possession of the ball pin them back into their own halves. They were a continual threat on the counter, and although they couldn't get too many of their shots on target as a result, they did keep asking questions of ATK Mohun Bagan's high line.
The first real sign that they weren't just looking to take a point from this game came in the 22nd minute when Jordan shielded the ball with his strength just outside the box, made a quick turn and got a shot away at the far post. He couldn't find enough curl on it and only hit the post.
For ATMKB, most chances became a case of either being straight at the keeper, going over the bar, or being from a fair distance away. In the 68th minute, Kiyan Giri had perhaps the clearest chance in the second half for the visitors - but even that was from a tight angle on the right side of the box, and he could only find goalkeeper Mirshad Michu with his shot.
That was a sign of ATMKB pushing for a win that would keep them on the heels of Hyderabad FC in second place. But their commitment to scoring would turn into a boon for NorthEast United FC in the very next play. It took them only two passes to find the goal - one from defence to release Emil Benny on the right flank, and then the midfielder's cross to find a rushing Jordan's head in the middle of the box. From there on, NorthEast United FC took control of the game, producing more chances than ATKMB and holding on to the result.

FC Goa broke their losing streak and put an end to Odisha FC's winning after a comfortable 3-0 win in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa on Saturday. Substitute Brison Fernandes broke the deadlock with his first touch in the 74th minute before Noah Sadaoui and Alvaro Vazquez wrapped up the three points for the Gaurs. The Juggernauts were reduced to ten men in the 65th minute when Nandhakumar Sekar was shown a second yellow, and FC Goa made the visitors pay with all three goals coming after.
The visitors kept more of the ball during the first half and had more chances to score. The first came six minutes into the game when Osama Malik dinked the ball across the face of goal before Martin missed it whilst attempting the spectacular. The ball was eventually volleyed at goal by Narender Gahlot and beaten off the line by Anwar Ali.
Six minutes from the break, the ball was cleared off the line again. This time it was Ayush Chhetri who came to FC Goa’s rescue. Dheeraj Singh missed the ball from an inswinging corner completely as Saul Crespo’s goal-bound header was kneed onto the upright by Chhetri.
At the other end, against the run of play, Brandon Fernandes put Iker Guarrotxena through on goal. However, Carlos Delgado’s tackle allowed Amrinder Singh to sprint forward and parry it away from the Spaniard. But the ball was parried straight to Sadaoui, who failed to get the ball into an empty goal from near the edge of the box in the 42nd minute.
Five minutes past the hour mark, The Juggernauts were reduced to ten men after a challenge by Nandhakumar Sekar on Princeton Rebello saw him receive a second yellow. In the 74th minute, Seriton Fernandes played a through ball down the right flank, and Sadaoui pounced on it before pulling it back for substitute Brison. With his first touch, Brison smashed the ball in at the near post to give his side the lead.
Four minutes later, FC Goa doubled their lead courtesy of Sadaoui. Seriton played another sublime cross towards Vazquez, whose effort came off the crossbar. Amrinder punched the rebound only as far as Sadaoui, who finished powerfully. In the final minute, Sadaoui slid Vazquez through on goal, and the striker put the game to bed.

Odisha FC nabbed three consecutive wins for the first time this season as they edged NorthEast United FC 2-1 in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Friday. Nandhakumar Sekar scored his fourth goal of the season to put the Juggernauts in front in the 25th minute before substitute Rochharzela scored with his first touch to make it all square in the 60th minute. Jerry Mawihmingthanga scored Odisha FC’s 99th Hero ISL goal in the 78th minute to lift the Juggernauts up into second place.
Odisha FC got their noses in front in the 25th minute courtesy of Sekar, who got on the scoresheet for the third successive game. Raynier Fernandes slid a through ball into the box for Mauricio, who whipped a low ball across the face of goal, and Sekar was at the far post to tap it into an empty net.
An equaliser came in the second half when Rochharzela scored just five minutes after coming on. Right-back Joe Zoherliana played a low ball into the box. The ball missed everyone and found its way to Rochharzela, who scored with his first touch at the hour-mark and drew the Highlanders level.
In the 73rd minute, the offside flag denied Odisha FC a goal. However, a goal did come for the Juggernauts just five minutes after that incident. Crespo unleashed a shot at goal, which was parried by the keeper straight to Jerry, who picked his spot and put the hosts back in front.

The deadlock was broken inside ten minutes. Halicharan Narzary was twisting and turning on the left flank before whipping a cross past Meitei. The cross was headed into the bottom right corner by an unmarked Yasir in the eighth minute.
Two minutes later, Nandhakumar Sekar crossed the ball in from the left before Jerry Mawihmingthanga’s header was blocked by Akash Mishra. On the counter, Joao Victor slid the ball through to Hitesh Sharma but the midfielder could not keep his shot on target.

Odisha solidified their fortress in Kalinga, picking up their second win in two games at home, as they pipped Bengaluru FC 1-0 to move to the top of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) with nine points. Nandhakumar Sekar scored a belter in the 33rd minute, and it turned out to be the game's only goal. This was Sekar’s second Hero ISL goal and also his second against Bengaluru FC in the Hero ISL.
The Juggernauts opened their account in the 33rd minute with an absolute thunderbolt from Sekar. Sahil Panwar’s corner was cleared, but only as far as Sekar. The striker bagged his second Hero ISL goal in style with a venomous strike from 26 yards out.
Closing in on the hour mark, the game got quite scrappy in the middle third. Bengaluru FC tried to push the hosts into their own half. Creativity in the midfield was lacking as both sides attempted a few long passes towards their respective strikers. Krishna was tightly marked and so was substitute Pedro Martin at the other end.
In the 67th minute, the Juggernauts ventured forward with Pedro Martin getting the ball into the box. The striker’s scuffed effort eventually landed in the path of Jerry, who was completely unmarked. However, the winger failed to capitalise and fired his shot straight at the keeper.

The Diwali fireworks started early at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar as Odisha FC secured all three points against Kerala Blasters with a dramatic 2-1 comeback win in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL). Harmanjot Khabra scored in the 35th minute before Jerry Mawihmingthanga equalised in the 54th minute and substitute Pedro Martin won it for the Juggernauts in the 86th minute.
The midfielder’s goal-bound shot was blocked by Gill before Jerry tried to tap it in from close range. The goal was chalked off because Gill had a glove on the ball when Jerry toe-poked it into the net.
The visitors got their noses in front ten minutes before half-time. Adrian Luna played a short corner to Lalthathanga Khawlhring before whipping a brilliant in-swinging ball from the left flank. Khabra sprung the offside trap and broke the deadlock with a thumping header.
It was all square in the 54th minute when Shubham Sarangi’s long throw from the right was flicked on by Osama Malik in a chaotic penalty area before Carlos Delgado’s shot was parried into the path of Jerry and the 25-year-old made no mistake tapping it in from close range.
A minute from the hour mark, Luna’s inswinging ball from the corner caught the Odisha FC defence off-guard. Amrinder Singh, at full stretch, could not get a glove on it and was relieved to see the ball hit the far post and roll out for a goal kick.
The game turned on its head in the 86th minute. Amrinder lofted the ball towards the final third, where substitute Pedro Martin took it down with a deft touch before smashing it past Gil with aplomb to give Odisha FC their second Hero ISL win over Kerala Blasters FC.

Mumbai City FC notched a 2-0 win over Odisha FC in a tightly contested affair in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) at the Mumbai Football Arena in Mumbai. A Shubam Sarangi own goal and a 94th-minute Bipin Singh strike were enough to secure all three points for the Islanders.
The first shot on target came seven minutes from half-time when Nandhakumar Sekar cut in from the left flank and fired a tame effort towards the goal. It was comfortably collected by the keeper. In the 44th minute, Diego Mauricio burst into life as he sprinted past two Mumbai City players before getting a shot away. The Brazilian’s effort was off target.
Five minutes into the second half, the deadlock was broken as the Islanders took the lead courtesy of an own goal. Lallianzuala Chhangte was found on the right flank by Ahmed Jahouh. Chhangte unleashed a shot on target after a quick exchange with Greg Stewart. Amrinder Singh saved the effort with his foot but the ball hit defender Shubham Sarangi and rolled into the goal.
Nearing the hour-mark, Mauricio found space in the Islander’s box to get a shot away. The fierce strike was saved by Lachenpa. In the 72nd minute, Mauricio went down in the box, under pressure from Stewart. Appeals for a penalty were in vain as the referee only awarded a goal kick.
In the 82nd minute, Amrinder denied Stewart with an outstanding save. The Scottish striker received the ball from the left flank and struck a low shot at goal. Amrinder’s quick reflexes were enough to keep the ball out. In the last action of the game, Mumbai City FC probed forward towards a scattered Odisha defence. Stewart unselfishly passed the ball to Bipin who smashed the ball past Amrinder to score his 15th league goal for the club with the last kick of the game.
The Islanders, next play hosts to the Hero ISL 2021-22 Shield winners Jamshedpur FC on 22nd October, Saturday. The Juggernauts return to the east coast to host Kerala Blasters on 23rd October, Sunday.

MATCH DEYLAYED DUE TO HEAVY RAIN AND WATER LOGGING CONDITION IN THE GROUND.
Odisha FC scored two late goals to seal a 3-2 win over last year's Hero Indian Super League (ISL) league winners Jamshedpur FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur. Daniel Chukwu and Boris Singh gave the hosts a two-goal advantage inside the opening ten minutes of the game. Diego Mauricio then bagged a brace, including the winner, and substitute Isaac Chhakchhuak got on the scoresheet to nab all three points for the Juggernauts.
Torrential rain delayed kick-off but didn't dampen Jamshedpur FC's spirits as they got their noses in front after just three minutes. Ricky Lallawmawma’s low cross from the left flank was blocked by Thoiba Singh but the rebound fell to Daniel Chukwu before the Nigerian smashed the ball into the net with his left foot.
The Juggernauts reduced the deficit seven minutes later. Raynier Fernandes rolled the ball towards Diego Mauricio near the edge of the box. The Brazilian was given too much space before he curled and tucked his effort inside the far post. In the 67th minute, Pedro Martin found himself in a one-on-one situation with TP Rehenesh as the JFC defence searched for an offside flag. The Spanish substitute saw his effort saved brilliantly by the Jamshedpur FC shot-stopper.
The match was then tied with two minutes in regulation time to go. Odisha FC substitutes Isak Vanlalruatfela and Isaac Chhakchhuak combined brilliantly on the right flank. Vanlalruatfela pulled it back for Chhakchhuak, who smashed the ball into the back of the net. The comeback was complete in second-half stoppage time. Vanlalruatfela was involved in the move again as the 21-year-old picked out Mauricio with an inch-perfect ball before the striker fired in his second of the night and the winning goal for Odisha FC.
The Juggernauts and The Red Miners will both travel to the West coast on different dates to face Mumbai City FC in their next respective fixtures. The Islanders host Odisha FC on 15th October, Saturday, and will welcome Jamshedpur FC on 22nd October, Saturday.
